  • While this video features footage from a previous test session on a 2021 Yamaha EX Limited WaveRunner, The Watercraft Journal's Editor-in-Chief Kevin Shaw spends a little time noting on the value that the Rec Lite segment has added to the PWC marketplace in less than a decade. Whether you're a veteran rider or a first-time buyer, a Rec Lite machine just might be perfect for you.

Figure 8s are life. Always a good channel to watch.

I owned a '17 EX and now own a Spark Trixx. In between I had larger more powerful machines. While going 65mph+ is fun and the stability is appreciated in rough water, the EX and Trixx have provided me with the most smiles per mile. Bonus is that they go all day on a small tank of gas, relatively cheap to run vs supercharged machines.

Exactly! It’s a totally unique experience unlike any full sized runabout.

Thank you for all info. I am new with jet ski. I always roll over when I drive it. Do you have any video on how to drive jetski? (Turning, speed, multipul passengers, etc)

Such a loaded question, I'm sure the team can give a better answer than me, which would be (not trying to sound mean): slow down and focus on what you're doing. Safety first, enjoy the rest.

Never in my life have I rolled a modern (built the last 25 years) runabout. Not even in rolling surf, torrential storms or heavy winds. It's hard for me to commiserate to something that seems absolutely incomparable.

Don't Ask Kevin - he is way to good rider and do not understand rookies like us :). I am also new to the Jetski community - bought a Jetski in 2021 and have only 16 hour on it. I do not know what kind of Jetski you are riding but you must look at the maximum load in pounds not in people :) Yamaha EX,EXR, SeaDoo Spark, Trio are definitely not 3 person watercraft. They are fantastic for one and maybe one plus a small child. My EXR has a maximum load of 496 pounds and when I was riding with my son (our total weight is around 400 pounds) we manage to roll it over twice in sharp turns. My advices are as follows:
      1. Do not hold to your Jetski when you feel that you will fall - just let it go and this will prevent from tip over.
      2. Always check the maximum weight (include the oil and gas that you have on board).
      3. In slow speed (

FX if you want to fish or take the mrs out for a ride.. Admittedly, I'd buy a GP1800R in a heartbeat for my alone time, if I could.

Understood, but not everyone really should be on one.

This was a 2021; the 2022 models have hard-mounted speakers in the footwells now.

Those speakers look like they block the view of the mirrors. If i make it rich one day ill buy one of those bad boys and slap a 1.8 na motor in it worked up w all the riva parts. That should move along a lil doggie.

But the weight of a human matters EX, VX, OR FX.
If your a bigger person the EX sinks unless moving. 😂

Sounds like my smallest SUP board. It's fine until I stop paddling 🤣😂

Dude, I weigh 240lbs and I've never sunk or rolled an EX over.
