I made this last night and my bride said it was better than hers! It was cheaper per pound of meat to buy a 1/4 ham than a hambone/shank so I cubed up a portion of the ham. I like mine a little more watery so I added an extra 1/2 cup of water and after the cook I blended about 3 cups and mixed it back in for a creamier texture. Love the recipe, thank you!
I have made this 4 times in the last 5 months. Now I’m making again for a neighbor who hasn’t had split pea soup in years. His son Hates split pea soup so he’ll have the whole pot to himself. 😊 1:30pm
My friend has had her insta pot for about 2 years. Too afraid to use it. I helped her follow your recipe (no ham). She could not believe how I easy it was. Split pea is her favorite soup. She absolutely loved it, she was so proud of herself. She’s so happy her hubby hates spit pea. The whole pot was hers. So thank you for a delicious recipe and great tutorial
Even though it's going to be 90 degrees outside today here in Pennsylvania, after watching your video I just have to make pea soup. That's the beauty of an Instant Pot. Quick, delicious food. Thank You for the video.
I'm surprised I didn't comment on this already. I made this a couple of months ago, and it turned out great. I've never used bay leaves in pea soups before, and it really made a difference. The day after I made it, it really thickened up way more so I added some water before I reheated it. I'm making this again tomorrow, and I will use 8 cups of liquid instead of 6, being careful to not go over the max fill line.
Oh my goodness, you have a Pea soup Andersen's mug. I have several still also!!! My family went to Solvang every year when we lived in CA... (40 years) Always went to get Pea soup at that famous restaurant. I was never able to replicate the flavor of that soup, but your recipe looks amazing and I will be making it this week. Thank you!!
@@cookingwithlori6566 Thank you, I made it yesterday afternoon for an early dinner. Oh wow, it was absolute perfection! I topped the bowls with some scallion and a dollop of sour cream. Thank you again!! PS. I think the Buellton and Santa Nella locations are the only 2 restaurants left. They were so popular back in the day.
@@irenehaugen6143 I’m so glad you enjoyed it and it brought back such fond memories. I love making recipes that were impactful from my childhood. At Christmas, I make a few cookies that are 3rd and 4th generational recipes. Cooking/baking from the heart! 💜
Thank you very much for this: I’m trying this out today - I’ve heard that you can’t pass aromas over the internet, but when you offered a taste of your soup to me it smelled so good I could honestly taste it. I also enjoyed your music selections very much!
Thank you so much I just bought an instant pot and I’m loving it so much and I have a craving for delicious pea soup and I was like I wonder if I could use my instant pot and I found your video thank you so much for making it 🥰
I’m so glad Gina! Split pea is such a comfort food. My recipes show how to make them step by step. I did this so those new to the instant pot can feel comfortable making some favorite dishes. Enjoy! 😊
Just tried this today in my Ninja Foodi, never made soup before in my life. Didn't bother with carrots, only had a 15 oz can of broth so I used mostly water, didn't have ham so I used 1/2 lb. of bacon. Came out awesome! Can pea soup make you fat?

What a great story! That’s the reason I started making the videos. I love helping people learn to use their pot and make delicious recipes! 😊

Thank you. That is one of the reasons why I love my instant pot. It’s easy cleanup and doesn’t heat up the house in the summer. 😊
Nice recipe…gonna make tonight!
I hope it was delicious for you!

Thanks! My family loved this. Could we do the same process with northern beans?
I haven’t tried that but I don’t see why not! Sounds delicious! 😊
Can you add extra ham into the soup after its done to make it more meatier?
Yes - you can add more meat if you want! 😊
if it is that thick it is a stew. soups are thin with much more juice
L = lapsed time 🙃
