hey there mechtrician I completely understand. What we did with my son's 65 is add a third brake light / license plate light from Max-Bilt LED License Plate Light w/3rd Brake Light. It is bright and isn't too hidden. It also is brighter than the old license plate light. I had actually bought that same light you have and didn't like it. This one is pretty good. We also added a plate between the trunk and rear seats. Some sort of peace of mind. The news report was what just pushed me over to install it.
In California, this Mod definitely a must do. CA drivers expect an eye level light. I did my 3rd brake light - but it only worked for a short period of time…. Got to figure out the wiring…
Thanks for sharing this. I have been considering adding this to my stang.
I bought a package tray that included the third brake light but the LED in it was so weak that it was useless until I changed out the bulb for two LED bulbs the size of quarters. It's so bright now there's no way you can miss it.
California driver here also and I typically would never add a 3rd brake light either but yours turned out pretty good and doesn’t look bad at all. Nice work
Thank you. And believe me, I don’t like it either, but I have noticed that people are not coming right up on me anymore.
What gauge wire did you use to run it all the way to the front
Did you use a T-tap splice?
Thanks for sharing. What was the make and model of the light you used? I like the fact that it is bright.I have a fastback so I need to figure out if it will fit.
