Lex Luthor, Braniac, Zod, Doomsday, Bizarro, and Cyborg Superman are in a room playing Poker and they all tell stories of how they almost defeated Superman, and when they get to Doomsday he says. "There I was held up on apocalypse when superman came nosing around. He was getting closer, closer!
Lex interjects: And?
Doomsday: and I threw a rock at him!
*Silence*
Doomsday: It was a big rock......and I may have at one point put him in a death like coma for a year.
*Everyone turns to him with eyebrows raised*
They all then proceed to ignore Doomsday thinking he is crazier than Bizarro.
"No, Doomsday, YOU'RE not wearing pants!"
"Wha--NNNOOOO!!! MY DOOMY PARTS ARE SHOWING!!!"
Note: Desaad sent Doomsday to Caloton purposefully. he KNEW that the Radiant had defeated Doomsday in the past. The Calotonians put Doomsday into their ceremonial funeral garments after his defeat, the green suit that Doomsday was wearing on Earth during the Death of Superman.
This was truly a tale of APOKOLYPTIC proportions.
The problem with this and other comics: The more they try to use science to explain things, the more it sounds like magic. I think Charles Darwin just rolled in his grave.
True... except Darwin isn't actually dead. Thanks to the collision of two parallel time fields, his conciousness was displaced and propelled into an artificial body in 2020.

Just two points. Desaad sent Doomsday there because he knew they stopped him before. Secondly the Radiant was a being created from the lifr energy of the ruling family who were all bssically metahumans and sacrificed themselves to save their home. The ultimate noble sacrifice.
One of my faves! Doomsday stomping Darkseid is too glorious. 10/10

with doomsday i really feel he should have been a monster of the week, kills superman and is never heard form again after that fact. by this point doomsday may just as well be invincible as there will be a point where nothing super man will do will work.

I want to get that comic to read..Superman/ Doomsday Hunter/ Prey...I really like the story and even though you may not like it it is awesome and I could see the guys though poking fun at it were interested as well. I enjoyed Kingdom Come as well with the older superheros. While the comics do mix fantasy and spiritism with their pseudo science it is still a interesting exploration of the stories and not just an adventure but goes further to explore the psychology of people...which is what I like most. The fantabulous tales sometimes have ancient roots.

I've always wondered how prehistoric Kryptonians survived such a harsh environment of their prehistoric world as portrayed in Hunter Prey. If they were immune than 'baby' could not be Kryptonian.

Guys, it wasn't a coincidence that Desaad sent Doomsday to Calaton. He deliberately sent him to Calaton because he knew that it was the place where Doomsday lost. He was counting on the Radiant to beat him again.
Oooh, that makes sense. But how did Desaad know about that? Is Doomsday a notorious villain in the galaxy?
Yes. They later retcon that before reaching Calaton, Doosday actually killed Darksied's friend, Mayhem, destroyed the Green Lanturn Core among other planets before being killed by the Radient. And the legend of this Doomsday monster survived through the ages.
P.s - If ur wondering why Darksied doesnt remember hin in this books, its cause this is actually an avatar who is temporarily ruling Apokalyps in place of the actual darkied (obv cus the writers did'nt want actual Darkseid to look like a wuss who lost to Doomsday)

I hate to be that guy, but the reason Darkseid lost to Doomsday was another case of the writers not realising how powerful the New Gods are. Kirby's New Gods are actually giant for starters and are so powerful that Superman would be less than a fly to Darkseid.

I still have the individual issues for this series. I actually read it again recently, and while it's definitely not good, it's ridiculous and 90's enough in all the right ways that I actually enjoyed myself.
Favorite moment: When Cyborg Superman makes himself a gigantic body by absorbing tanks or some shit, and his tiny little head remains unchanged on the front. Also, Superman's costume in this... oh lord. I dare somebody to cosplay it.

They pretty much did what you suggest (the 4 replacement "Supermen" fighting different kinds of Doomsdays) in what was the final story pre-New52. It was awful.
As for the confusion why Doomsday sees Superman as Bertron, those other human-looking scientists working with Bertron were Kryptonian. Back in the Byrne era Kryptonians were obsessed with tampering with their genetics, cloning, and whatnot, which is why they ended having a genetic link to their planet (an explanation as to why no one could escape the planet's destruction, except baby Kal-El), and then there was that whole thing with the Cleric and the Eradicator (the device, not the antihero). So, technically, Doomsday started off as a Kryptonian baby.

I recommend you guys do a back issues on Gail Simone's Secret Six series, I prefer the pre-flashpoint series but that is more because I read that first, it's really interesting because it's very well written and lets lower tier characters shine.

I found out while watching a TV talk show that Kevin (Hercules/Kull) Sorbo was on the "short list" for the part and HE sported a mullet in those days. These books are published months in advance of release after all...

Parts of that story sounded great but I think the dumb stuff outweighs it. Like the shooting the bone claws. That part was dumb.
