      I believe that this is supposed to be the core concept in any law regarding the freedom of any individual or group. If you hold any situation to this line, then you should know what is the right way to act.

    3. If they don't, the public should use whatever means necessary to get the rioters out of their way

If the rioters are injured in the course of a member of the public engaging in point number 3, the rioters alone should be responsible for all punitive damages, including those suffered by the members of the public in carrying out point number 3, both to persons AND property. That means, if their car is dented in the process of going through the riot, the rioters are liable.
    That's fair, that's moral, that's justice, that is RIGHT.

    What's also important to note is that the police aren't there to arrest the people blocking traffic or even hinder them. If they so much as lay a finger on them they risk losing their jobs by social media.
    They are there only to arrest those who try to get past those blocking the road, the everyday citizens who want to get to work, because they know that they won't cause as much of a fuss.
    The police fear consequences of doing their job, many have already left or been fired for doing so, leaving many who either don't care about enforcing the law or outright agree with those blocking the road, making them more crooked than ever.

    The first ammendment right to protest in America is for where are known as traditional public forums. Sidewalks, parks, legislative grounds, etc.. not in the middle of the street. I'm Canadian and even I know this.

      there's tons of people here claiming this is how protests were in the past, yeah no they weren't, in the past people would protest in front of Government buildings where the people with real power are at, what we have here is a riot and those typically don't help their movements win over anyone.

      Roads are still government property, so the government is still under a fundamental obligation to respect and protect people's right to freedom of speech, expression, assembly and protest.... on government property.
      Anything contrary to that is rights-violating and tyrannical.
      If you don't like it, then do what I do and advocate for the complete privatization of all roads, bridges and highways.

      @npcknuckles5887 having rights does not mean they are without restrictions.. they are restricted by time, place, and manner. In this case by place. Also I would add that these rights are specifically to ensure that the government doesn't punish or retaliate against the public for things protected by rights. In a situation of protesting in the streets without prior permits, the police can remove protesters - they aren't being removed for protesting, they're being removed because they're blocking the streets, which is not a constitutional right or legal.

      @@zeroremorse24x7 I'm sorry but you've been misled. Rights actually have no restrictions, because rights ONLY pertain to rights-respecting actions. What you really mean is that human action has restrictions (eg. you can't murder someone). Since there is no right to violate rights, that is not a restriction on rights.
      Government has an obligation to respect and protect people's rights. If the government stops protests on government roads, then that is rights-violating/tyrannical.
      Also, there is no such thing as a "constitutional right". There are only the natural and unalienable rights of the individual. All that the constitution (bill of rights) did was UNDERSCORE a handful of rights that the framers felt needed some additional protection in writing. The bill of rights didn't grant us rights. Rights don't come from government. This is basic knowledge ffs.

    When the Vietnam war happened, people protested at senates and the white house as well as at congress. Sadly you will never convince a bunch of fossils of anything, but that was the place to do it. Blocking traffic does nothing but make people originally ignorant or even on their side to instead actively hate them. This doesn't raise awareness, it just ruins your point.

      @@stygian4011 It's not in the constitution but it is in fact a law and in stand your ground states where your car is legally recognized as an extension of your home you can legally use deadly force to defend yourself and your property if you feel threatened and in immediate danger. Which by extension is the police's job to remove said people who are impeding traffic but they weren't doing their job and won't because big cities side with criminals...

There's a trucker who was pulled from his truck and beaten to death a few years ago. Funny enough I believe it was about 20 years prior to that he had been pulled out of his truck and beaten severely. Mobs can turn violent at a moments notice and that's why the police should keep them off the roadway, apart from the obvious reasons such as emergency vehicles needing to respond to, ya know, actual emergencies... People have died in ambulances because they couldn't receive the care they needed because the roads were blocked by "peaceful protestors"

      Pregnant lady is not the worst thing that can get stuck in traffic. She can at least give birth in a car, but what if a doctor doesn't show up for an important surgery, or someone called an ambulance or a firetruck.       The police, or more specifically their bosses, are literally puppets of the administration that promotes such crimes. This isnt a meme or a joke, the chiefs are literally being ordered by their superiors to facilitate these actions. Why? There could be alot of reasons, such as breeding controversy and instability for some gain, but thats besides the point that its on purpose. Its not even a "they must believe its ok to commit crime" thing, their bosses will literally fire them and ruin their livelihood, while also letting the criminals out of the jail free of charge, just for enforcing the laws in a way that doesn't conform with their bosses orders.

      Because the police are very aware that nobody has their back and everyone will paint any form of force used in the worst possible way.
      Reminder when the police used the standard amount of force to break up the CHAZ, which was pretty much rioters taking a city hostage and causing multiple deaths, they ended up getting sued and the city decided to pay the rioters millions rather than fight the suit.

    I think what the post is clearly insinuating is completely insane. However, if the Police refuse to do _their_ job, then this _will_ be the result. It's when the Police refuse to get involved that people start taking matters into their own hands. In the long run, this will affect jobs and business, and if ever you wanted someone to start taking drastic measures, just interfere with their ability to make a living and see what happens. If the Police doesn't solve the problem, someone else will.
