She single handedly left a bigger carbon footprint than the entire Roman empire.
I'm trying to find a flaw in that logic ... but ... you're not wrong.
@@ReformedAgnosticthe flaw is that one didn't have jets and cars and the other did. I think i probably left a bigger carbon footprint than the Roman empire by virtue of having a vehicle and a job 20 minutes away
@@alanchung6843 I mean the entire empire still has to cook food and forge steel chances are your car still doesn't come close
@@alanchung6843 Its actually unlikely that you left a larger carbon footprint.
Romans used fire quite often to make construction materials. Their armor, made of metal actually took some effort and carbon to produce. (Metal armor doesn't forge itself.)
However... Taylor beats both your carbon footprint and the Romans. As this was one year of her travel, and one year of her carbon footprint.
Please use your brain and understand the comparison of one civilization filled with thousands of people being less harmful then a single modern hypocrite.
@@alanchung6843 Jets and cars aren't the only sources of pollution. Though the Romans used a lot of renewable resources (olive oil, wood), they also used tons of coal, and millions of tons of lead (particularly for lining aqueducts) which released lead pollutants through smelting. In fact, lead contamination in the soil across Western Europe and as far away as Greenland is still evidence of Rome's obsession with lead. There's plenty of evidence that pollution levels in Europe started to drop off between the years 300 - 400 - about the time Rome's power base was moved to Constantinople. So, yes, you certainly leave a bigger carbon footprint in a day than the average Ancient Roman did, but you, as an individual, are not leaving anywhere near the carbon footprint of the entire Roman Empire.

"Well like, yah she needs to do those trips, she's an artist, dummy"
She could fly commercial like many other artists. She just doesn't like to be together with the rest of us commoners.
It's funny how these types will constantly moan about the need for more public transportation, sharing the ride to minimize environmental impacts, then take *private* transportation _everywhere._

The difference is, she could literally not make another cent for the rest of her life and she, her children, and grandchildren could live very comfortably for the rest of their lives unlike us commoners that need to drive to work. She's doing this for fun, not because she needs to.
This is actually braindead. Its bot safe fir a famous female celebrity to be foying with "commors" so dibt get yiur pantues in a twist. But there still a lot of more private airplane services she could use for privacy, better accommodations and faster time.
Here's another thing. We sometimes hear rhetoric like "we need to stop having cars" or "we need to stop having air conditioners." It's never "we need to stop having entertainers" when the latter is more practical.
And keep in mind this is just ONE celebrity. Imagine how many tons of co2 is being emitted on a yearly basis by the population of Hollywood alone. The same folks who also talk down to us about doing better.
Also think about all of the general public who are flying/traveling to see these celebrities. You might as well double the Co2 emissions Taylor Swift creates with her single jet and you may start getting close to how much her tours create all together.
@@PreCiiSiioN_II Not really, flying is not the issue because planes tend to have 100+ passengers so even if the emissions of a single plane are high, they are somewhat stabilized by that many people using them. Same logic applies to trains and buses.
The main issue is that she is flying on a private jet, which not only produces more carbon than normal planes do, but only serves 1-10 people max, so the emssions don't get cut down if you count it on a per person basis.
They dont really care about the environment, they just care about controlling you and virt signlg. Pretty much the only people that actually care about the environment are gullible wyte people, they're suckers.
You also have to keep in mind that this is merely the footprint left behind by her using a private jet and does not include everything else she is making use of.
Nobody talks down to us more then Republicans calling full grown ass adults working at mc Donald's during school hour's, playground epithets like 'lazy' and 'Hustle'.
Republicans think that any of the millions of latchkey kids that make up the lionshare of the previous two generations. Should be capable up putting up with the same lot in life like that people raised by involved parents that gave them a sense of security and steadyness. That the former can be under constant threat of having their Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs being taken away at any moment .When they never experienced what it was like to be safe and stable in the first place.

the bankers are in the same boat as us lately lol
And her maniacal fans will hand wave it away all the while telling you that you’re evil for owning a truck
Also catholic priests
Banker here and you are absolutely wrong. Some (new) banks actually care and try to offer something most folks would never be able to get from your old fashioned banks and their stupid credit score systems. In latin america there are hundreds of millions of adults that do not have a bank account, do not have access to a credit card or to a loan or any other service from the finance industry. I do work my ass off to provide a good service and experience for those who never had any sort of finances education and are accessing to a bank account for the first time in their lives.
Bankers = greedy, is a very very old idea. If bank costumers go broke, they will pay for less bank services, so there is no way a bank wants to screw their costumers nowadays. No bank that screws its costumers survives that long. With the current legislations and costumer protection laws, banks arent allmighty as before.

If my "carbon footprint" is an issue, show me an alternative way of living that doesn't comprimise my rights and ability to live freely, don't say that I shouldn't be allowed to do something and then go and do it 178,000 times IN A SINGLE YEAR... Celebs aren't smart and shouldn't talk politics...
That's probably over 1000000 gallons of fuel
@@philosopherkingzant2037 I thought you were being hyberbolic, but apparently some private jets do legit take 600-1200 gallons of fuel PER HOUR! She definitely burned more fuel in one year than my entire ancenstry...
@@JustADudeGamer Leading by example doesn't mean that you live a fruitless life. If the result of you living your principles leads to nothing but a hard life, it should wake you up to the reality of your ideas. I will never take the advice or opinion of someone that hasn't been there or done that, so to speak.
Hasan is one of the biggest streamers on the planet and has made corporations countless millions while taking a decent pay out himself. He also claims he is a socialist. He claims he is for workers rights, but he doesn't pay his editors or moderators. He said he is pro unionisation, but says that he will not share his revenue with his workers under any circumstance. He claims he is anti war, but supports t*rrorist organisations and has claimed he has interest in joining one (watch his "interviewing a pirate" video). He believes that using slurs is racist, yet he calls everyone a cracker.
Hasan is the perfect example of not living your principles, and that is the biggest reason why his career is tanking so hard right now. It's not a problem to have an opinion on how society should be shaped, but if you aren't willing to live in that world voluntarily, it should tell you everything you need to know about the validity of your beliefs...

@@JustADudeGamer I get where you are coming from completely, but one thing you fail to account for is that you aren't a preacher, you are just in the pews. A belief in something is different to wanting to propagate your beliefs. You don't have the responsibility of hasan, because you don't have the ears of millions taking in everything you do or say. Groceries are also not optional. Hasan buying a >$3,000,000 house was completely optional, but he chose material wealth above his moral conviction against it.
As for climate change being an issue, I think you might want to research the topic more, and avoid using articles and news groups for your information. Go directly to the studies. Media places are paid by oil companies to mistranslate the data to mean "this is because of YOU", instead of the reality that is the fact that just 57 companies contribute to over 80% of climate change related pollution.
I did the maths ages ago, and I don't have the numbers to hand right now. When I have the chance, I can have a good look for it, but basically, the climate result in everyone everywhere being prevented from driving privately owned cars on the road would only cause (I think it was) around a 0.9% change in global emissions. To even get a number that high, I had to assume that everyone on the planet owns and drives a car, which is still comically charitable to the argument, and yet it didn't crack 1%. Take those figures with a pinch of salt, but it was based on UK traffic emissions data extrapolated globally.
She flew back to the states between Argentina and Brazil. It was maybe 3 days.
As a private plane pilot, I'm very grateful for Taylor for giving us more job opportunities 😂

Rules for thee, not for me. It's not about offsetting the damage we've already done to the environment, it's about limiting regular folk's ability to travel around and own stuff.
Clearly, we should all just _be richer,_ and the we can enjoy the benefits of our tiered society, too.
Sign me up! Fk poor people... Well fk me first, I guess.
Anyone knows that the Ice Age has passed, the planet's climate has never been static.
And they never like when you point out the greenest people are people like the Amish, who are politically opposite of them. Those, "offsets,' are never real. They describe land they own with trees, doing what they have always done converting a net of CO2 to O2, while they (celebrities, billionaires, and politicians) have a bigger footprint than 99% of the rest of us.
"Offsets," are just an excuse to control us while they pollute. And CO2 is overall healthy. It's plant fuel. It's methane and other gases that should be of concern to environmentalists.
@@dsheep9937 Point being? We are having an effect on the atmosphere and when shit changes, human life is worse off and we end up kill ecosystems. That's worth focusing on

The annoying thing is paper straws emit more greenhouse gases when they rot in landfill compared to plastic ones, they are not only worse for drinking but worse for the environment. I'm stuck carrying around a steel straw now.
I hope atleast a stainless one 😂
Bro what? We aren’t drinking from those shitty paper straws because of the emissions that their production causes, but because the fucking plastic ones will swim in the oceans and integrate into the foodchain for a few hundred years
No shit paper straws create more green house gases because they actually break down lol
They produce methane gasses which are worse for the environment then carbon
When you buy a single product packed in plastic and styrofoam, you're producing more non-degradable waste than you would in several lifetimes of using half-gram plastic straws in your drinks.
The straw thing isn't meant to be helpful; it's meant to be visible. A little F you every time you have a drink to remind you about the thing they want you thinking about nonstop.
oups.. the thing below about x1200 emissions is wrong. It's only x300 emissions than from an average person. My bad :D

- Average carbon footprint is 4 tons per person *PER YEAR*
- Tyler's activities led to 1278 tons of CO2 emissions *IN 3 MONTHS*
*x1200 EMISSIONS*

Is that 1278 tons everything combined or just the flying?

was it not 1278 tons of CO2 emissions in an entire year? based on the logs of her two private jets

i'm sure her fleet of tour busses and everything used for her tour is totally environmentally friendly too
Man imagine if we got the tracking on those too!? and for every music artist to those evil fuck label people and their managers and etc holy shit.

Its worse then that she has traveled more then 100 random people combined would travel in there whole life dam i mean she does more miles in planes then most world leaders combined does. Just a quick reminder that buying Carbon Offsets (like Tay Tay) is an absolute sham, with one study showing that "more than 90% of rainforest carbon offsets by biggest certifier are worthless." But they do make rich people feel better, so that's something.
it's true, they take already protected and privately owned forested land and offer it up as carbon offsets. so trees that were already safe from being clearcut are sold as "saved" trees so you can tell yourself you did something good without actually doing anything. it's green-washing and money laundering on an industrial scale, pushed by the wealthy fossil fuel interests and their owned governments. meanwhile our forests and oceans continue to get destroyed, unabated, by all those same rich and powerful who consume and exploit the most.
For further context: the carbon certifier people will buy forested land and designate it as a preserve so it can't be logged. But the land they're conserving is extremely cheap and so inaccessible that no one could work the land anyway.
They're doing nothing to actually protect the environment while making it easier for companies to continue to pollute.
You cannot make a market out of negative externalities. Carbon offset is 1000% a sham. Maybe a scam even.
If you swap rich and poor people, everything will remain the same. The problem is people in general.
