That choice of school reminds of our Common Entrance Days where u make choices of school u want ur child to attend from 1st choice to 3rd choice. Me I sha like that school age system. I finished school really at a young age so I don't actually see any advantage in it, because I see it as rushing a child into adulthood. So I like that age system.

Paying for school meals from year 3-6 depends on the income of the parents. Not all parents even those that are British or have a permanent residency qualifying for free school meals after years 2. It’s means tested. Also in private nurseries not the ones attached to the school. You can pay for lunch or you can send your child to nursery with lunch. The private nurseries also accept the 15/30 hours free childcare from age three onwards.

Yea, concerning the age thing, it means that children born between sept-Dec are typically going to be the oldest in any class. I’ve once stumbled on a group where most mothers talked about it and they said that it can have it’s advantages too, most times they tend to adapt easier and better than their peers born in august of the next year in same class with them because they are older. Don’t know how true it is though, but I think I kind of agree with them.
