Summer made a valid argument about Canada and Dr. Fola spoke so well about the UK. I am a Canadian lawyer and have studied and benefited most from the UK's education system. I have lived and studied in the UK for 13 years. I have been in Canada since 1998. So, I understand both countries so well. In comparison, I prefer Canada over the UK. The quality of socio-economic life in Canada is far better. However, I still love the UK, especially the pound sterling. All the best, everyone.

In the end move out of Nigeria first, don't get bugged by going to a certain country if the process is too long to meet for now. @wakawaka I am a lawyer with 10years experience in Commercial law practice in Nigeria, I just completed my LLM with University of South Wales, Uk ( I did a distance learning LLM), I want to relocate to either UK or Canada, However I'm thinking If I should if there's a fully funded scholarship for PHD in either of the countries I could apply for, or I should run a business Analysis course which might give me an edge to get a job faster. Do you speak french? If you speak french, maybe try for the province of Québec. You're going to have an advantage if you speak it and Québec is in desperate need of more nurses.

The basis for comparison can be seen in the HDI and the best places to live. Canada is far better than the UK. The only problem is most of us coming from Nigeria are used to the UK system and can easily integrate into the system. Canada is difficult to settle in because you have to understand the system which takes time and money. Canada is a highly regulated system and the certification process can be rigorous. Canada is too competitive because of the quality of immigrants.

I don't like the idea of telling people to just get out of Naija; home is home, and I would not deny the challenges we face. But people must leave the country with a focus and not rush out without solid plans. I lived in the UK for 6 Years and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Canada. I can categorically tell you people get trapped in the system. Don't be afraid to go back home and plan well before setting out again. I did just that; I let my passion for what I want to do drive me and not my eagerness to leave Nigeria. With the wrong mindset, you will become unhappy when you find those societies don't meet your expectation. Target self-growth and consider which environment will enable you to achieve your goals, I wish you all the best and I implore you to self-reflect on what it is you want achieve in this world.

@@mercysworld8242 The truth is a hard pill to swallow, you haven’t seen so I don’t expect you to understand. I returned and worked in Nigeria for 2 years before leaving again to pursue my degree. I am not against leaving, but if you are going to be careful to not be blinded by desperation. I have met so many along the way stuck in their tracks due to desperation.

The post study visa in UK is damn so expensive with ludicrously neck bending conditions. That is a turn off.
Can you elaborate more on the bottle necks you are referring to?
Then skip that and go for tier2 sponsorship visa which is way cheaper
I will love to advise people, Canada is an overhyped country, where CZcamsrs, want you to listen to them for the money they are making.

For work you need work permit (either open or closed)

Leaving Nigeria is the very first step the next and most important step is settling legally in the country you have chosen.UK doesn't have a proper way to settle in the UK. So many students in the UK are gonna end up stuck after their post-study visa expires.
Think and plan well before leaving Nigeria.
Canada has a lot more to offer to an immigrant than U.K. scholarship opportunities are more , job opportunities are more , houses are more spacious , roads are wider/more spacious , income levels are higher Canada , immigration pathways are enormous compared to U.K. , cars are more spacious . After living in both places I believe Canada will serve the interest of immigrants better. Express entry and pnp programmes has enabled people become permanent residents without ever stepping into Canada .

@@oyin8312 I’ll take it that most of the commentators placing U.K. ahead have not been to or lived in Canada. I applied for permanent residence via express entry and it was approved in one year. Of what use is a temporary residence visa in U.K. approved in 2 weeks compared to a permanent residence visa for Canada approved in one year ? People go to U.K. and struggle with jobs + work permit after their studies . I see that country has one managing their old glory . On the other hand Canada is on the path of growth that’s why unemployment rate is at its lowest 5.4%

I wish they discussed more of the negatives on both the countries as well! I feel like Summer din't do justice when she was talking about Canada because the reality is startly different! Canada advertises that it has a lot of job opportunities but the reality is you WILL BE FILTERED OUT and the pay is the next worse thing. The Average wages thesse days is 3000$ a month and it is inclusive of taxes, mind you! The Cost of living is pretty much crazy around the world and Canada would probably be on the same scale as UK or any other european markets.

Hi dear waka waka doctor I am Zonnad Kenny from srilanka my son applied to Canada for business study's but he was rejected after he tried to Spain for his top up masters as we don't have Spanish embassy her in srilanka through VFS and through agent we send the documents to India eroup embassy but that we got appointment 26 may may 31 there taken the destion to rejected but the embassy called us on 3 of August and after 3 months only we got the results please doctor if you can help me with some good advice how to make sure that we can apply for 100./. Visa to be approved I have spent lot's of money on this but agent. And I have bad experience with Spain and Canada thy took 3to 4 months to give results thy just wasted are time please give me a good advice how to come true my son's DERM come true I feel so bad to see my son in this situation he is broken 💔

I live in Canada 4 years now, living in the UK 6 years with my family, I work as a nurse in Canada and in the UK, good pay in the UK. Before you will say which is better you have to live in both countries that was what I did. UK is better.

People generally do not move to Canada for a better job or more money. It’s all about the lifestyle change. I know Aussie citizens and the working conditions are generally better in Australia than in Canada. The pay is a third higher and the healthcare system is better in Australia. They went to Canada because they wanted the lifestyle and environment that Canada has to offer, things they could not find in Australia or the UK they have citizenship. The cost of living in Australia is expensive - more expensive that some places in Ontario.
Don’t think for a minute that it’s all about finances because it isn’t at all! If it is all about money, you are better off in the UK.
Comparing the UK to Canada when it comes to shopping for groceries, nearly every service-related thing costs more in Canada for poorer quality. Canada could seem perennially 10-15 years behind the curve when compared to the UK in that regard.
I think it depends on where you live in each country. UK has become more expensive since Brexit.
For someone in a developing country moving to Canada could be more advantageous as you can move as a PR and will need just 3 years to apply for citizenship. You also do not to pay high fees to maintain your residence permit as you would in the UK.
In the end, it depends on what you want, why you are moving and what makes you happy.

After legally staying in both U.K. and Canada I’ll advise anyone to pick Canada over U.K. the advantages are enormous . There are more developed cities in Canada with more job options. You earn more money in U.K. Life is more comfortable in Canada and the immigration pathways are more in Canada.

@@wealthdavid3071 You can travel with your family to Canada on a Student VISA. You just have to prove funds for maintenance. So aside your school fees, you have to prove ability to maintain your dependants (family). The more family members you have, the more money you have to prove. Both countries allow for Dependent VISAs and you can process your study permit at the same time as the Dependent VISA.
Don't believe that, Canada is so hold up when you want to move with family

@@aifuwaodia8295 It's true, they will ask for your learning academic progression . Knew someone that was told to submit payslips and academic progression proof after submitting his application. Thank God he had them. It was a life- saver.
