Irn Bru; "My guess is that this is basically a Fanta."
Oh, how wrong can you be. Fire retardant was closer.
It’s totally different!.
As hundreds will probably point out, it's made in Scotland from girders
😂😂
I hate irn bru
I always thought Irn Bru was made from rusty iron extract lol
You're getting a salty hint with the Minstrels because you still have Monster Munch flavouring on your fingers.
That's what I thought too, so I drank a bunch of water, washed my hands, and they STILL taste salty! 😂😂
@@WanderingRavens Ha! Takes more than one wash to get Monster Munch off your hands. :-)
I know what he means. ive tasted saltiness on them before now
@@annother3350 What on earth are you doing tasting Eric's fingers? I think Grace deserves answers! *wink*
@@mrhedgebull1658 I think she should be Grace-ful !
The best way to drink irn bru is when it’s ice cold and you have a biblical level hangover
Vodka in the freezer and IrnBru in the chiller for afterwards. It's a fluid, full of sugars and enough bubbles to kick out any alcohol nasties. Outsells Coca Cola in Scotland [and Corby]
lucozade used to be my go to thing when I got a hangover
😂😂
@@WanderingRavens already looking forward to that video. “Hello, we’re the Wandering Ravens and this morning we’re pure hangin’ “
It's also good mixed with Guinness, like a black and tan.
You needed to get the real deal when it comes to Jammie Dodgers. The shop-brand ones you have there can't possibly compare!
The shop brand would be because it was a gluten free version so grace can try them. I agree the real deal is better though than shop brand, there’s just something not quite right about about anything else.
Jammie dodgers always taste stale to me
I'll have Eric try some of the actual kind!
I was about to comment "you didn't get jammie dodgers you heathens!!" Jammie dodgers were literally my school's mascot... no joke
Aldi's rip off version is exactly the same!
Irn Bru is like trying to think of a colour you've never seen before. It's impossible to describe the flavour, only that it's good. God bless the Scottish for inventing it.
If you do a third episode, if you haven't already you should try a Terry's chocolate orange.
I love whacking them on the table. You can take bets over whether the chocolate segments will separate before the table breaks! xxx
It's not Terry's, it's mine.
Have you had chocolate orange segsations, especially with popping candy 🤯🥳👍
@@wencireone yes they are amazing
@@oz25 lol
Cadburys was brought by Kraft Foods back in 2010Who changed the ingredients, and nolong tase like Cadburys.
Krafts no longer own Cadbury’s
@@MetalRocksMe. technically they still do. Kraft is the former name of Mondelez, who own the Cadbury’s name
Cadbury's went to shit after Kraft bought it. Galaxy is love.
@Wyn S Na, it tastes waxy / oily. Not creamy like it used to.
Absolutely been eating Cadburys for a few decades and there is definitely a difference since they were sold off.
I'd love to see your reaction to eating the following:
1. Custard Creams
2. Scottish Shortbread
3. Snickers
4. Twix
5. Caramel Wafer bars
6. Galaxy Ripple
Loving these episodes! =]
NI is the best place, right? :D
I prefer the plain wispa to the caramel version.
Same xx
Same
I didn't know there was a Caramel version 😂😂
@@ItzDylanM to be honest me neither 🙈😂
Wispa gold
Irn Bru is made from Girders
The story goes that every time they need to paint the forth bridge they collect some iron scrapings from the girders and include a small amount in each batch so there ya go.
@James Mills the “Fanny” one has got to be my favourite
To quote the Galaxy ads "Why have cotton, when you can have silk"
As you find milk flavour sweets weird, does this mean you've never had milk bottles? I would highly recommend going to an old fashioned sweet shop and getting a selection, such as rhubarb and custard or lemon drops or strawberries and cream.
Omg yess!! They need to tray lear drops and bonbons
And cola cubes!
try 'after eights' one of the best chocolates ever in mu opinion
But you can only eat then after eight. Any other time of day they won't taste right
Thanks for the recommendation!
@James Mills interesting...
Are you referring to the wafer thin mints or the sweet that used to be called Mintola?
@@daviniarobbins9298 after eights are waffer thin.
Wait till you try chocolate hobnobs. It will blow your mind
Never tried them as trying to loose weight 😂 they would add 2 stone instantaneously 😁
Can't wait!!!
I would also suggest the chocolate and caramel hobnobs 🤤
I have been known to polish off a whole pack of milk chocolate hobnobs in one sitting...
Ohhh now I remember why I have choc hobnobs on my online order this week 😂
You know they ain’t British cause he dunked that hob nob without saying “dip me again”
I’m away to watch Peter Kay now 😂
"Where's me brew gone?!?!?".
Marines of the biscuit world
Part 3? Aero mint chocolate. One of my favourite chocolates.
"It looks like a fire retardant".
This felt like a personal attack.
"It's smaller than I expected".
Okay, that's definitely a personal attack.
How to piss off Scotland
@@Matthew-Wood85 Well if they will go round supping bubble gum flavoured drain cleaner...
As a Scot so 😡😡
@@cogidubnus1953 They may take our lives, but they will never take away...our bubblegum flavoured drain cleaner!
😂😂
I actually don't like Irn Bru but I believe it holds an international record for being the only fizzy drink to outsell Coca-Cola in any country, that country being Scotland. 😎
It's pretty much our only export, we gotta make sure it's a success 😂
@@staceycampbell6669 - Don't foregeet about the whisky! 😊
Yep IRN BRU is the second national drink in Scotland - 1st is Whisky.
Yeah but alcohol is gross my bros, I'm more here for the tasty fizzy juice 😉
Irn Bru is like Nicola sturgeon (carcinogenic stuff ), looks poisionous & full of waste materials leftover from a nuclear reactor core but very much loved in Scotland .
I’d like you to try and figure out Flying saucer sweets.
Oh yes!
Oh dear...another Hobnob convert...for the lifetime of craving to come, we're truly sorry!
They are honestly DELICIOUS
Chocolate Hobnobs! Mmm.
@@jlr108 Absolutely, the ultimate evolution of the biscuit.
If you like Hobnobs you’d have LOVED Abbey Crunch....
@@dhdove Oh god yes....
Irn Bru as seen on the window ledge behind Thor and Hulk in Endgame in the village of New Asgard. (filmed in Scotland)
Honestly, I forgot that I’d seen that when I first saw it.
Thor is also seen to be drinking Innis and Gunn Original as well.
Didn't know that!! Will go watch that scene again!
Wasn't there a Costa in Game of Thrones? Brilliant product placement
And they were drinking Innis and Gunn, a Scottish beer.
We brits love our milk flavoured sweets, you should try milk bottles :)
Minstrels are not salty, but you did eat them straight after handling the salty Monster Munch
Either that or salt from tears after putting them on his eyes...
@@nickjeffery536 😂😂
That's what I thought too, so I drank a bunch of water, washed my hands, and they STILL taste salty! 😂😂
I thought the exact same thing haha
Irn Bru IS AMAZING. it outsells coke in Scotland. God I miss my homeland ❤️
Coke the drink maybe! ;-)
same :)
It’s nougat in a double decker.
Yes! I was thinking the same thing!
Double deckers used to have corflakes in the base , now it's crisped rice...
@@redbeki nope it was changed from raisins to crisped rice in the eighties.
Raisins in a double decker !!.erm , as far as I can remember , it started out with broken cornflake pieces ..
@@H0n3yMonstah we were both correct , the base contained both raisins and cornflakes.
Glad you are on the light side. You might like to look at the higher end chocolate like Green and Blacks
I assume a Gregg's taste test will appear at some point
Thornton's is the best British chocolate.

I know it's Swiss, but I prefer Lindt chocolate :)
I love Cadbury’s twirls 😍 you should try a normal twirl bar as opposed to the bites, it makes a difference imo
Thank you for the recommendation!
I second that. Twirl bars are one of my fave chocolate bars, the bites are nothing in comparison. Also, you should try the actual galaxy bars as well as opposed to the share bar. The segments are bigger.
In terms of irn bru, I like it but it does taste quite medicinal
Mars, commonly known as Mars Bar, is a variety of chocolate bar produced by Mars, Incorporated. It was first manufactured in 1932 in Slough, England by Forrest Mars, Sr. The bar was sold in two different formulations. In its original British version the bar consists of caramel and nougat coated with milk chocolate. An American version of the Mars Bar was produced which had nougat and toasted almonds covered in milk chocolate; later, caramel was added to the recipe as well. The American version was discontinued in 2002, and then revived the following year under the name "Snickers Almond".
Good selection, some classics here. Nothing contentious though... You should try the drink dandelion and burdock (like a British root beer), it's pretty unique, and you'll either love it or hate it, but almost definitely hate it. Also Skips, the crisp snack, they're real good and I don't think they have anything similar in the States.
Edit: Also those Twirl Bites were definitely off, they taste like regular Cadbury chocolate. The bag may have had a tiny hole and they went stale.
Loving the dandelion and burdock suggestion!
+1 on dandelion and burdock.
Disappointingly no liquorice allsorts yet either.
@@philipellis7039 +1 on licorice allsorts!
I LOVE Dandelion and Burdock to drink brings me back to my childhood xx
I love dandelion and burdock! American root beer is disgusting and tastes of germolene.
Try Lucozade (original) it started as a health drink you would only have in when you were ill , they then remarketed themselves as a energy sports drink....
Wind and water as my Granddad used to say (the polite version).
Thanks for the recommendation!
Glass bottle wrapped in celophane, bought from the chemist. Aah the memories.
And then they took a lot of the sugar our and replaced it with sweetners, removing it's purpose beyond the flavour. The medicinal/sports drink point was that it was full of sugars so gives you a lot of energy quickly and easily. Glucose-ade without the G.
Jammie wheel? That sounds like some off-brand version. You want jammie dodgers!
The ones they tried were gluten free ones
Or wagon wheels lol
As a fellow Englishman, I got very triggered.
@@EpicShots I'm Scottish, but close enough!
looks to be co-op brand
Ah yes Irn Bru from a wine glass. The very epitome of sophistication and class. :)
You should definitely try Dandelion & Burdock drink. It’s a very great drink, like Dr Pepper and coke and another flavour mixed with it. Really good and big UK drink.
Fentimans curiosity cola is nice too as is the rose lemonade
Oh dandelion and burdock is so good! Apparently according to my mum it smells like mouth wash
I see it in Tesco, but I am scared to buy a bottle to try it, as I don't want to waste money on something I won't like!
@@eleanorlyndon865 it’s good tho, go to herons they are only 39p up north. I always get the brand that has a white and purple bottle (Ben Shaws). The other brands are a black bottle I think D&B, nice but reasonable but more expensive than 39p. The expensive one that is bad tasting is Fentimans the glass purple bottle. Too expensive and shite. Ben shaws is the best one next to D&B.
That third flavour is licorice.
Can you try penguin chocolate biscuits next time
Iconic
And don't forget read out the joke from the wrapper
Thank you for the suggestion!
I loved Penguin as a kid, but I've gone off them now. But the jokes are iconic.
@@qwertyTRiG I still eat penguins and the jokes are ICONIC
Crisps (Chips): Squares, Wheat Crunchies, Nik Naks.
Drinks: Vimto, Stouts, Scotch
Choc: Drifter, Picnic, Yorkie raisin and biscuit
Fun facts:
1. The twirl bites are a spin off of twirl bars.
2. When Cadbury was sold to an American company recently the recipe was changed to make it cheaper worsening the chocolate.
3. Twirl was the only chocolate product to keep the old recipe because the new one couldn’t fold like that.
4. The waxy texture you commented on was how all Cadbury chocolate was and was something that was lost in the new recipe.
5. The Cadbury dairy milk was voted Britain’s favourite chocolate.
6. Cadbury used to put sawdust in the chocolate to make them more crispy.
Hope you enjoyed my facts x
They also do chocolate Hobnobs, Eric xxx
they do, and they are the king of biscuits!
Wow!! Someone better hide my debit card 😂
DARK chocolate Hobnobs are great.
Until this video, I didn't know they made them without chocolate! BTW I live in Canada so YMMV!
What does Irn Bru taste like?
It tastes of Scotland and the tears of the French.
Lol jk, it tastes of bubblegum.
😂😂
It;s main flavouring is artificial banana. :P
Not bubblegum!! It's more of a cream soda meets pure iron.
It's made from girrrrders.
Irn Bru is indescribable. It’s amazing and you have no idea what goes in it
hob knobs are the marines of biscuits, you can keep dunking them and they don't break
Currently drinking my 3rd can of irn bru today as I watch this, it’s definitely a favourite here, though you definitely need to try more Scottish snacks!
'Irn Bru smells like child's toothpaste' well, when I first had a root beer my first thought was how much it reminded me of the drink they give you at the dentist.
As Alan Partridge put it, Doctor Pepper is like "fizzy Benylin".
I had it for the first time two years ago and I will never have it again. Brown mouthwash.
Root beer tastes like Germoline smells... not something i fancy drinking again 😂
@@lorlornana8891 Yes, it's Germolene! You hit the nail on the head. Edit: I looked it up and apparently rootbeer and Germolene contain wintergreen (methyl salicylate), which became familiar to me through playing rugby in my youth. It was the active ingredient in the liniment, embrocation or "Deep Heat" sprays we'd use to relax our leg muscles before a game. And people drink this stuff?!!!
@@ftumschk I remember buying a packet of what I thought were fruit jellies when visiting family in the US once, and putting a green one in my mouth expecting it to be lime flavour. What I got was an awful toothpaste/linament flavoured taste in my mouth, which my American cousin explained was wintergreen. I have no idea why anyone would think it was pleasant to eat!

Irn Bru is basically Barley Sugar.
Don't tell the Scots I told you...
PS if you can find it, try Caramac (a white caramel chocolate), Abernathy (a biscuit you probably can't get gluten free) and any sort of steamed pudding (which should be served hot even if you can't manage to get it with hot custard or ice cream), steamed puddings are a staple of UK cuisine, stodgy, filling and hot)
Your reaction to Hobnobs warmed my heart. Also you are right, hobnobs > digestives :)
Maybe you could do a Gluten Free taste test so Grace doesn't starve ! xxx
Excellent idea!
Yes, just raid the gluten free section!
Unfortunately, there's not a lot of selection for me :(
@@WanderingRavens a gluten free tip, don't just go by the packaging. I think Sainsbury's still does a gluten free product list. Some of their own brand products are gluten free where the big name version isn't. Seem to remember this is particularly true for breakfast cereals.
@@WanderingRavens They do gluten free hob nobs!
Wispa Gold for the win!
I'd have gone with chocolate covered hobnobs, in fact I totally did this week :-D
And I think Roast beef is nicer than the pickled onion monster munch, it's worth a try.
Just to add Galaxy tastes very similar to the Hershey Symphony bar. It's my go-to chocolate when in the States and I want some nice tasting chocolate.
Wispa Gold was grand!! :D
The monster munch factory is in the town where I grew up. It is the same place where they make quavers. You could always tell what they were making as the smell was wonderful!
You guys should definitely do a “best British chocolate” video! If you’ve never tried a Star bar I’d recommend that.. it’s like a Cadbury version of a Reece’s peanut butter cup except its a bar and also has a bit of caramel in it! They’re one of my favourites
Try Green & Black's Organic Chocolate. It's luxury brand chocolate but not too expensive and you can find it in most supermarkets.
Irn Bru's tagline used to be "made from Girders!!" , because of the rusty colour and the iron in it which gives it that tangy taste, it's also deemed Scotland's national drink (apart from Whiskey haha)
There is no iron in Irn Bru, which is why they had to change the name from Iron Brew, because there's no iron and it isn't brewed.
@@replevideo6096 Irn-Bru contains 0.002 per cent iron and it was originally called 'Strachan's Bru'
@@Racheell4520 We both got some of it wrong. It was launched as Barr's Iron Brew in 1901 or 2 years earlier, there is some confusion about the date. The name was changed to Irn Bru in 1946 when it was out of production, and appeared on labels from 1948 when production resumed. It was a government crack down on making false health claims on product labels which triggered the name change. It contains 0.002% of ammonium ferric citrate, which means the actual iron content is close to zero. Only a homeopathic medicine believer would accept that as significant.
whisky in Scotland, whiskey in Ireland and the US..
The top chocolate makes (as opposed to varieties) are: Cadbury, Galaxy, Aero, Lindt, Yorkie, MilkyBar (other companies make white as well, eg. Cadbury), Terry's Orange, Toblerone.
Something I picked up from the lovely Alanna (Adventures and Naps) is that the North American Mars Bar has almonds in it and is closer to a Snickers, aka -Marathon (old school!)
Ooh you could maybe do a video on breakfasts cereals you hadn’t seen before coming to the UK...lots do make GF versions as well!
Yes! These are all my favourite snacks
You should also try Penguins and Crunchie
There are also just Wispas which are the same thing as Wispa Gold without caramel
I love Irn Bru. It is greatly used in Scotland as a hangover cure. It is fantastic stuff.
Try galaxy Ripple but put it in the fridge for a few hours first, totally changes the texture. The original long version, not the bar.
Opening the packages right in front of the camera was very satisfying :D
So glad you enjoyed that! :D
Did you drink the Irn Bru ice cold? Room temperature it's pretty "meh", over ice it rocks.
This is very true.
Bounty bars and crunch bars are delicious, they should try those!! Galaxy bars very creamy chocolate.....yum
I think Wispa is so called because if you let it melt on your tongue it makes a kind of fizzing "whisper" sound.
Pickled Onion Monster Munch are amazing
Deep fried/battered Mars bar is a Scottish delicacy!!
Edit: Irn Bru is made from girders, according to the adverts!!
The Cooperative black chocolate bar is a secrete more people should know about. It taste is complex but overwhelmingly fruity, with no bitterness. The one to buy is the Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Single Origin 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate 100g for £1.60. Enjoy.
If you were to try any of these snacks again a whole twirl bar is nice, a plain wispa is really good and also the other flavours of monster munch may be more appealing ( roast beef and flaming hot)
If you do a third episode I really recommend you try J20. (orange and passionfruit is best)
Apple and raspberry all the way
Irn Bru, tooth paste, you ain't never going to Scotland 🤣👍
Scotland fuming
More fuming over being called British tbh 😂😂
The squishies have milk flavouring because they are Drumsticks in different form - squishy rather than chewy on a stick. The milk and raspberry flavours work well mixed as you eat the lolly, but squishy form less well.
Glad to see you guys giving Irn Bru the respect and class it deserves by drinking it from wine glasses 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Love irn bru! Literally fuels Scotland!😂
I always think the best chocolate is 'Easter Egg' chocolate. Thanks guys, tasting all that chocolate so we don't have to.... wait. What am I saying?! xxxx
I agree. Easter eggs chocolate or chocolate Santas.
Hell yes. Easter egg chocolate tastes better.
Cheap easter egg chocolate, the same as you get in cheap advent calendars, is evil.
The reason why they are 'Drumstick' squashies is because you can get lollipops called Drumsticks which are basically the same thing on a stick. Similarly Twirl Bites are chopped up Twirl chocolate bars.
Terry’s Chocolate Orange, After Eights, Crunchie, Bounty, Snickers, Maltesers, Aero, Smarties, Galaxy Cookie Crumble, Raspberry Ruffle, Lotus Biscoff (biscuits or spread) are ones to try!
"Dunk" not Dip ....
Oops!!
I tried Irn Bru once and it seemed like a combination of artificial sweeteners, pez and under 6 calpol.
Awesome snacks you got there Wandering Ravens.
Thank you 😁
Irn bru is made is Scotland from girders flavour...check out the old adverts guys 😀
I’d recommend a boost chocolate bar if you do another snack video 🤤
Hey guy's, you need to try a deep fried Mars bar. A delicacy from Scotland...
Served after a few Irn Bru and Vodkas.
Or deep fried anything! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
As a Scotsman, the only time I've had one of these was from a chippie in Southampton, it was ok.
Irn Bru is the only locally made fizzy drink that outsells Coca Cola. It has a very high caffiene content as well as sugar, although since concern about obesity the sugar content has dropped. When the recipe changed, the old recipe product was changing hands for very inflated prices until stock ran out. It is reputed to be an excellent hangover cure, but is also well liked when added to vodka.
try the gingerbread flavour matchmakers, historically there were only mint and orange flavours but a few years ago they released a limited edition gingerbread flavour that has since returned every year around Christmas. Maybe a Christmas snack taste test is in order, they can try mince pies, stollen, christmas cake and pudding (they are different), sherry trifle also there are two special editions of chocolate digestives out for sale at the moment a gingerbread one and christmas pudding one, as someone who loves gingerbread and is not a fan of christmas pudding i was shocked to discover that the christmas pudding digestives are superior.
I'm pretty sure you have Galaxy in the US, it's called Dove there.
Isn't that the soap? Lol
Careful when you dunk Hobnobs. They drink your brew ☕

I agree, it's more expensive but worth every penny. :)
I'm lucky, the factory is just down the road from us and the outlet can be much cheaper. Our German friends always stock up at Hotel Chocolat to take back as presents.
I’d recommend trying (if you can find it) a battered mars bar. And as drinks go have you tried cloudy lemonade
I was amazed you didn't like the Twirl, I love them. In fact I was eating an orange Twirl while watching the video!
I agree with you about galaxy chocolate though. I'll eat it if someone offers me a piece, but it's far too sweet to have often or too much in one go.
You didn’t get the chocolate hobnob.....why did you subject yourself to that version of it. The chocolate one is supreme.

All your complaints about jammie dodgers come from the brand of gluten free ones you got
Irn Bru was originally called Iron Brew, but a few years back the Trading Standards authority told them to change the name because it contains no iron and is not brewed. The company came up with the ingenious name Irn Bru, which sounds the same but complies with regulations. Mars bar is 100% British, having been first manufactured in Slough, England by Forrest Mars Sr. an American immigrant. He eventually took over his father's business in America when he died in 1964. Now try saying Slough.
)Irn Bru - made in Scotland from girders (or so the advertisement says) - so if you go to Scotland you can try out the Forth Bridge and compare
