  • The MTHFR gene instructs the body to make an enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. This enzyme helps to process amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.
Paloma Health sits down with Naturopathic Doctor Doni Wilson and Geneticist & Nutritionist Denise Furness for a virtual conversation about the MTHFR gene and how it relates to your Hypothyroidism.

Slow COMT+MTHFR is more common that you think :) we combo types are probably the biggest consumers of info on MTHFR since most practitioners on YT/online don't address what to do. The best advice I've found so far is skip the methylated vitamins, take folinic acid for folate (start really low and work up) and take creatine to reduce the body's demand for methyl donors to make creatine. I also take small amounts of methionine for methyl donors since I don't eat chicken. (Be careful not to take too much methionine/eat too much chicken as cancer cells love methionine).😮 I take the other Bs of course- just umethylated
