    This is the most IMPORTANT announcement I have made on my MODEL3MAN channel in the last 5 years. But the MAIN part of this upload deals with FOUR major Tesla developments that have occurred over the past few weeks that are forever changing Tesla's trajectory. Understanding these events in their context will help you understand why the shares are SHOOTING skywards this morning

    Thanks for the updates, Peter. I'll be turning 70 years old next month but have been retired since 2009. We've been to Cozumel and would like to hear more about your buying experience there but with most of my and my wife's relatives where we live now, the chance of us relocating seems slim. I'll be looking forward to more of your content as you have time to post it.

    Congratulations! I got my model 3 on June 2018 as well and have been keeping it ever since. I have been following your channel since then. I am glad we both can experience to see the model 3 starting from very basic features and evolves to FSD and other features that the car did not have at the start. This is a very unique experiences for the earliest model 3 owners can have. I hope FSD V12 comes out in time for you before you sell your red dragon such that you can make another episode on this channel. Thanks!

    Happy for your Retirement!! You are going to love being Retired! It is wonderful 😊. Why are you selling Red Dragon, couldn’t you keep her until the Model 2 comes out???

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci

      Thank you for your congratulations! Well - the reason I’m selling RD is because I am going to need the proceeds of that sale to purchase the new model 2. Now, I could keep it and use it for 2 more years down in Mexico, but when I sell it then, it will be older and less valuable and probably far more difficult to sell in Mexico. Selling it now in Canada (or the USA) it has low mileage, full self driving, great battery condition and is in very good shape. So that’s the basic reasoning behind selling now, banking the money, waiting patiently for the advent of the “2”
      However, I’m open to some logical arguments to make me change my mind, as I’d LOVE to keep it and use it in Mexico. I can’t bear to think of life without a Tesla!!

      @kwsphn Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@model3man Just FYI, I don’t think you’ll be able to transfer FSD to a third party. They are only allowing you to transfer it to a new Tesla that you purchase in quarter 3 - this is a limited time offer. Just think of all the friends you’d make by driving into town with RD 😄

      Thanks Dennis - but I can assure you there will be MORE Tesla videos not less. Not having to attend to my regular work (which I'm always having to do here in Vancouver) will give me both the time and the energy to increase my output. And yes, perhaps a golf cart (or side-by-side) would suffice, I want to use the money from the sale of Red Dragon to buy the new 'Model 2' which will make my car the second Tesla on the island :) The Condo developer has already agree to install my Tesla Charger (240v) unit in the complex and allow other EV owners to share it so it becomes a condo facility,

      Thanks Denis! Glad to hear your endorsement of my retirement strategy :)
      Actually, I would love to keep red dragon, but my deal with Janine is that if I’m going to get a new Tesla, it has to come from the funds raised by selling the old Tesla. And I’m very keen to be the owner of one of the new lower priced vehicles Tesla will be making soon.
      So, selling it here in North America will be better than trying to sell it in two or three years time down in Mexico.
      But it will be devastating to not be driving a Tesla for the next undetermined period. Electric scooter will have to suffice :)

    gripe incoming
    i must have my turn signal stalk,
    i do not want to hunt for the button taking my eyes off the road to use the turn signal while also trying to take a turn.
    during normal driving i can see getting used to the button,
    but it will be either, i get my stalk back, or i just dont bother to signal if i can't get to the button to indicate my turn safely, which i consider turn signals to be a safety item, and therefore the turn signal stalk makes the most sense to keep it.
    now the other changes i can get behind, the new front and rear have gotten a good facelift.
    however the lack of a proper safety turn signal stalk means that its a deal breaker for me to consider swapping my current m3 to the new one.

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci

      Fully understand your reluctance to have the removal of the indicator stalk forced on you. I will be very interested to watch and see how new owners of the Highland version adjust to that, and whether it becomes an ongoing complaint, or, as with the absence of other buttons, just becomes something people get used to. But I fully understand your reluctance to get behind that particular change.

    Thanks for the video.
    #1 - I still say FSD, even done by AI, has a long way to go before we can say it is at level 4 or 5 autonomous driving. Humans do irrational moves when driving a vehicle and will that be built into the AI system. Time shall Tell on how FSD will evolve. How will the police handle FSD accidents when there is nobody driving the vehicle. FSD will not make driving accident free, but will be a little bit better.
    #2 - The affordable 25,000 dollar model 2 vehicle should be made first for the public, not for Taxis. People are waiting for something that is affordable and this vehicle would put a stake into the heart of other manufacturers that sell 50,000 dollar EV vehicles and higher.
    #3 - That is why I decided this year to get my 2023 Model Y LR because of them using NACS charging connections on the Tesla's. Other manufacturers have signed up for doing this, but will it be adaptors or will they put NACS connections direct on the vehicles??? Don't know.
    #4 - I did not want a Tesla Higland model 3 sedan style plus I did not want to wait for the Juniper model Y hatchback. I wanted an Electric vehicle now, so I chose the 2023 Model Y LR hatchback and it meets all my needed requirements and features. I have HW4 and the newer cameras on my vehicle. The Highland is mostly cosmetic changes - they are nice - but I don't need them. Rear display not needed because I am retired and single. The thing that would be nice is the front bumper camera, but then again I don't plan to use FSD - too costly. Current cameras are fine for me on the Model Y.
    Thanks for your video and good luck in your retirement. Hope you don't get any Hurricanes down there.

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci

      What a beautifully organized and explained comment this was.
      You clearly set out your reasons for all your choices and I can’t help but agree with most of them.
      I do however think that AI-based FSD will be better than expected because the training is done by the neural network watching only good driving patterns and behaviors. So, the neural network will not be learning erratic, driving or erratic decisions, but will be trained on correct driving videos.
      Anyway, all of us can only speculate at this stage on how it will turn out, but I am optimistic. But thank you so much for your very well explained and detailed comments. Pleasure to read through

    Elon holding his phone while driving is completely illegal in California. I'm not a fan of the front end of the new Model 3 and prefer stalks over buttons, but it does have other good stuff. But it's always funny how quickly people think a design gets old.

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci

      Actually I don't think Elon was holding it; He had Ashook in the car with him (as you can hear during the 45 minute drive) so I'm sure he was 'staying legal'
      As to the design getting old, I guess (sadly) we are conditioned to think that if something stays the same for more than 2 years, it is "old". Whenever I get into my 5 year old Model 3 it feels fresh, and wonderful, and amazing. I never think of it as old, but I have to confess I look at all the improvements in Highland, and think how great it would be to own it! But - my focus is on waiting for the new Model 2 once it arrives

    • @Resist4
      @Resist4 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@model3man No, he was actually holding his phone. I do like almost everything about the new Model 3 except for the front end it has no character and is just blah. And I hate not having stalks and dislike the blinker buttons together on one side, but at least they put the horn back where it belongs. I’d rather have a refreshed Model Y, my Model 3 is starting to feel cramped and stepping down to get into it is taking a toll on my back. I honestly think the $25k car will be a disappointment, just like the $35k Model 3 was. It will probably lack very little features and range that it won’t be fun to take on trips. I sure hope they get a move on building more service centers because nothing has improved in that area and releasing new models will only make repairs even more difficult.

      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It is true that certain changes will not automatically be appropriate for all situations and contexts. You certainly do have a point, but, I don't know that the bumpiness of the road will make a difference, as your hands are firmly on the wheel even during the bumpiest stretches of road, and you would just be raising your left thumb to tap one of the two buttons. Probably more of an ergonomic challenge that would become easy over time and repetition

    • @davidpearn5925

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 11 měsíci

      @@davidpearn5925 - I do get the points you are making but it is also true that with the ultimate goal of a self driving vehicle (and I have now been using Full Self Driving and watching it improve dramatically for almost 1.5 years) the car itself will (and does) turn indicators on and off with the need for any human input. Of course for those who do not purchase FSD, there will still be the need for a human to activate the indicator, but I am content to wait for the reviews that come in as people begin using the new steering wheel based indicators and get a general sense of whether this is a step forward or a step backwards. But I also grant you that it is quite legitimate for people to have and express preferences,
      I do also remember that Apple said people will not need buttons on phones (and Blackberry bet the farm on that one) and then Apple said we don't need headphone jacks in phones (and bluetooth headphones then becamse all the rage); and then Apple said we're not supplying chargers with new phones and there was an outcry. All of these controversies died down and are never heard of nowadays. So - Elon has been brave about new innovations despite heavy public criticism at different times, and sometimes (in the words of this video episode) we have to allow the dust to settle before evaluating whether some new development or feature is a deal breaker.

      Parking on a hill with the wheel into the curb means straightening up before you can locate the correct button and other such imposed meddling. Profit beats practicality apparently. Jake Broe (Ukraine coverage) has a jaundiced view of Elon Musk and he’s not alone.

      @@davidpearn5925 - I get it.
      By the way, I uploaded a video about 4 years back with a helpful hint on accurately tapping the screen controls. Here's the gist of what I said.
      If the screen 'button' is near the top of the screen, hang your four fingers from the top edge of the touchscreen, and use your thumb to tap on the button. Because you are anchoring your hand firmly against the top, your thumb is not going to randomly tap, but will be very accurate in reaching the button. If the on-screen button is near the bottom edge of the touchscreen, use the thumb on your right hand (if driver seat is on the left side of the vehicle, of course) to hold the bottom edge of the screen and use your index finger to tap the on-screen button. These two strategies work because you are anchoring the hand firmly in a given location and using a free finger or thumb to tap on the button control. Perhaps you already do this intuitively but if not, it's worth a try.

      I'm not sure I understand your comment? What is it that you wonder why I don't keep it? sorry but your meaning is not too clear - perhaps you can explain it and I can answer you?

      I just didn't want to spoil, you sell red Dragon. But when I had sent my comment, I realized, someone had already soiled it.
      I just wonder why you didn't keep it as a secound car, or gove it to one of your daughters. 🤔

      @@benheckendorn2696 - I get it. Well, unfortunately, I can't just give it to one of my daughters because I will need the money I get from selling it to be able to buy the new Tesla (Model 2 if that is what they call it) when it comes out. I would love to buy both my daughters a Tesla but going into retirement, I don't have spare money to be able to do that :) So - if I want to get the new lower-priced Tesla that will come out in one or two years, I need the money I will get from selling Red Dragon
