I have the 400w powered 10” JL audio I believe it is the tw1 and it bumps really good for the size! My first one I had to get replaced as the box was leaking air within the first week but I have my second one now and so far so good just gotta break it in first! Love JL audio

I used to be able to get a 8W3v3 for £129.99. Now you'll pay £229.00. That's an increase of over 75%
Look at Morel, no price hike, DD no price hike, Focal no price hike (although people in the U.S. get ripped off when it comes to Focal and Hertz), Sundown, no near 40% price hike. Ground Zero no price hike, DLS no price hike. Even if you were to use home audio subs for your car audio system, Peerless XLS10 no price hike, Scanspeak, SB Acoustics, Dayton, Tang Band ... all no 40-75% price hike!
The Peerless XLS10 sub is around £100 or $150. I could buy three of them for the price of a single JL 10" … and the Peerless subs kill!!!
I love JL with all my heart, but I've just got to the point where I can't justify their products any more, and certainly not in light of the competition. My Morel Tempo 6''s blew my C5 speakers out of the water … and for half the price. My Sundown SA12 killed my W6 in terms of SQ and SPL, and at a third of the price.
JL is quality gear, but so were my DD subs, and so were my Sundown subs, and so were my Alpine subs, and so are my twin Peerless SLS 6.5 subs!
I wish JL all the best in this current climate. I still love JL amps, and the 8W3v3 ... that sub in particular will always hold a place in my heart. Shame it doesn't hold a place in my wallet.
*PS* I'd take my twin Peerless SLS 6.5's over any shallow sub, any day … and @ just over £50 I can buy five of them for an equivalent 10" JL Shallow mount!

The only boxes i can find for my tundra are around 1.2 cu ft and they're ported. What would be the best shallow sub for me? Also i prefer quality over spl
Using a 5 channel amp for my setup so would you run a jl 10tw3-d4 with a jl vx700/5i or jl vx1000/5i. The sub has a 400 watt rms.
The amps: a) vx700/5i subwoofer channel at 2 ohms - 300 watts,
b) vx1000/5i subwoofer channel at 2 ohms - 600 watts or wire it at 4 ohms - 400 watts.
Which should you run?

Andrew, the TW1 and TW3 have nearly identical sound. TW1 uses less volume for tighter applications. Size for size the TW3 should have more output or play the lower frequencies louder on the same power compared to the TW1.

@@juststuff5216 i clearly state why I’m considering the TW1 or TW3 subwoofers in my comment. I don’t want a box that’s as large as the one in the link you provided. 20years ago, I wouldn’t consider getting a shallow mount or thinner subwoofer. My listening taste has changed and my needs outweigh my wants.
@@Phut68 The issue with shallow mounts is that they need more space, not less to perform optimally! The marketing departments won't tell you this. But I stand by my comment. Most 6" and some "8" fall under the TW1 and TW3 depth for mounting. With the right alignment, they'll do a lot better. Also look at the Peerless XLS 10"
The video was just to demonstrate how well a smaller driver can do, when done right. And for me, that's where the problems lie, the enclosures aren't done right, sealed or open!

Hey JL, any idea if these will fit in an under seat enclosure for an 05 Dodge Ram? I have to use one of those funky shape enclosures with another brand flat subwoofer which does not produce very deep bass.

I would love to know why JL has never made a w7-18. It would be so insane!! I wonder if it would not meet JL's strict sq levels or something like that. So if anyone at JL could answer that it would be awesome. I have been rocking JL since my first system at 16. 2 12in wo's.
I would like to know why some sub designs are over a decade old, but the price has increased to near 80% where the competition have kept their prices the same?
OK, DD and Sundown have increased their price a smidge but that's because they're on version 4,5,6 on some lines, but the prices are nowhere near the 40-75% price increases I've seen in the UK for JL gear.

@@jondoe6618 Well Rolls is now owned by one of the most unreliable brands in the game ... BMW. The M-Cars 6, 8 and 10-cylinder cars have all been a well documented disaster in terms of reliability, and the Rolls V12 in terms of overall reliability hasn't done anything to crack that. So good luck with that!

Yes, you would double the gross volume for two subwoofers (net volume plus subwoofer displacement times 2)

Hey Elijah, thanks for reaching out. Two 8” subwoofers is going to be about the same output as a single 13.5 Tw5 (on the same power). If you want a serious increase in output then adding a second TW5 would really be the only option. If you double your amplifier power after adding the second woofer it will be a very substantial difference in output.
I have two 13.5 tw5 .I initially had one but then added the 2nd.They are ridiculously under powered with a 500/1 amp, but the bass I get out of them is more than enough.
Personally, after many years of running JL, Alpine, Hybrid Audio, DD, Sundown ... I went down the Home Audio route. I can buy 3 Peerless XLS10's for the price of a single JL 10".

As for the Dual Peerless SLS 6.5" subs that I currently run in a t-line, you can buy 5 of them for the price of a single JL 10" shallowmount sub ... that's why I don't get shallowmount subs. One can buy any/most 6.5 or 8" subs in multiples that will do a far better job.

Hey Blaine, thanks for reaching out! The TW1 is a great subwoofer when a low profile application is needed, but a 12TW1 in a ported enclosure will have less overall output in the whole frequency range when compared to the 12W3v3 in a H.O. enclosure. The W3v3 will have more power handling, more excursion, and a better engineered enclosure.
@@JLAudioInc sorry I typed my comment wrong so I have the HO112-W6v3 12" had for about 9 months in the back of my 09 silverado. 2 months after having it the box got a bad rattle right above the top ring where the screws fasten I have a wedge in there atm to keep it from rattling. Besides all that how would 2 of these compare to the one I have now or maybe even 3 would they have the same deep lows

@@JLAudioInc or alternatively, just buy a Sundown sub for a third of the price, with far better output and SQ than any JL sub ... or at least that's why I replaced my W6 with an SA-12! It's an option!
Would my jl e6450 run two tw1 10s?
E6450 could have two channels bridge to one TW1 and two more channels bridge to another TW1 as long as they are 4 ohms each.

I've owned a lot of Alpine gear, speakers, subs and amps … they always left me wanting. I like JL amps, but I can''t stand the near 80% price hike (in the UK) for certain JL products.
As for Alpine subs ... again, they always fell well behind the likes of Sundown and DD IMO.
Like JL, Alpine is nice gear, but it's not for me. But in the face of the disgraceful and unjustified price hike (UK) over the years for JL products without any developments in their subs, I'd probably go for Alpine.
But I feel Alpine are one of those default names. When one gets into the game, one should leave those behined for more professional gear from the likes of DLS, Audio Frog, Hybriud Audio, Sundown, DDm Morel, Ground Zero etc.

I don’t understand the giant former that surrounds the voicecoil, why not get a voicecoil that size?? You’re adding weight anyway..
Probably some sort of stability feature so it lasts longer and tuned FS to a specific value.. keeps the coil more linear. tuned suspension stiffness.
The worst part of JL woofers are the dang grille. I have had and still have banged up speakers because the thing came off and I couldn’t get it shut down in time. Other than that great stuff

10TW1 sounds the same as a 10w3 ??? At 300 watts?????
A 10W3v3 or 10TW3 should be able to play a bit louder over all on the same power as the TW1 due to added excursion and cone area. Sound quality is similar between them all.

The subwoofer is impressive or so I have heard. But darn. Every other company did something new every year. 6 year old tec in 2021 is disappointing from a huge company like JL audio. I am a JL fan. JL is right-priced if you value your time. Car audio for adults. And their speakers sound great for the environment they are playing in. Oh, and JL perfectly refurbished a sub for me, not purchased from an authorized seller by the way, after their competitor's PDX threw a DC Offset. Great customer service in my book. Their equipment is so pleasant to hear, and it remains pleasant when the volume is cranked. They have great sounding gear at every price point.

My 2 12" w3s are unimpressive for $600 when you can get 1 bone rattling sundown zv5 12 for another $180.
My c5s blew out on me and they were powered by a jl 360/4 . Absolute junk considering I paid $600 for a pair of "quality" speakers. They should've lasted a lifetime and weren't even loud.
Ok, so maybe it was my fault that the speakers blew because my gains were set to high, right?
Well they also refused to fix my xd 1000/1 amp because it was "purchased from and unauthorized seller". I literally waited a month for my shop to send it to Florida just so it can get denied and waste about $70 for shipping for absolutely nothing . This was the last straw I had with JL since I put so much money into their equipment
Never buying JL again . I'll take my chances with sundown or even skar.
