I’m a first year optometry student! One interesting strategy we’ve learned for either difficult or too talkative patients in practice is to redirect them back by saying something like “Let’s focus on why you’re here today.”
Absolutely! It’s definitely a learned skill to redirect patients and some are easier to do so than others. Thank you for sharing!
I like the being calm and listening strategies and to add to that- leaving the situation/ that person until you feel you can be in that headspace to be calm so that you can listen and not fight
