  • NSW Police are investigating the cause of a serious single vehicle accident on the Princes Highway in Tempe this morning.
At around 5.30am residents were alerted to a series of loud bangs as a vehicle had rolled a number of times and slammed into a tree and power pole.
It's understood the vehicle crossed on to the wrong side of the road and then crossed back prior to the collision.
Emergency services were contacted and intensive care paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
Mr Uhila who lives nearby was one of the first to respond to the incident. He was able to pull the woman from the wreck and stabilise her airway until paramedics arrived.
The force of the impact was so severe that the car split into two pieces and the dashboard was thrown clear from the vehicle.
The 21-year-old woman is said to be in a critical condition and sustained a number of complex injuries.
A team of four paramedics transported the lady in an intensive care ambulance with two other ambulance crews in tow.
The woman is currently undergoing extensive treatment in St George Hospital.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
