  • At around 2.00am, emergency services responded to a serious car crash on St Marks Road in Randwick.
On arrival, a 20-year-old male was found trapped inside his vehicle with severe injuries to his lower limbs.
Intensive care paramedics were tasked to the incident and a further upgrade to a medical team was requested.
The male was trapped for 1 hour and 50 minutes. Police Rescue, Fire & Rescue NSW, and Paramedics worked tirelessly to free the male.
A total of three vehicles were damaged, with two being written off.
The force of the impact was so great that a parked truck was forced onto the footpath.
An ambulance spokesman said the male was very lucky to survive.
The male was transported to St Vincent's hospital in a serious but stable condition. He has suffered extensive lower limb injuries.
A blood sample will be taken to determine if alcohol was contributing factor to the accident.

Thank goodness for this wonderful rescue team. Thank God we have them bc they are greatly needed. Otherwise many would have died but they saved many many lives. 🥰

I bet that 'over an hour' seemed like an eternity to that man. And thank you for respecting victims by blurring their faces.

Definately. The very first thing that should be done. What if a fire, from short circuits happens?, wouldn't be fun for ANYONE...

If it was his legs being trapped that was the problem why didn't they just go straight for a modified dash lift cutting straight through the top of the A's at the windshield followed with relief cuts and just use spreaders to lift the dash off him. could have saved a lot of time.

mate, Pulling the car or stretching the car is good idea but not with a trapped person inside, it could possible to pull the trapped body apart or worst rip something off
