  • In this gripping documentary, join me on an eye-opening journey as I delve into the heart of Chicago's South Englewood neighbourhood, notorious for its reputation as "The Murder Capital of America."
Prepare to be captivated as I take you along on an immersive exploration of the gritty realities that the residents of South Englewood face daily. From across the pond in London, I ventured into the heart of this perilous city, uncovering stories that need to be heard. Witness firsthand encounters with the streets as I navigate through the twists and turns of South Englewood. I interacted with individuals who have chosen a life on the edge, gaining insight into their world and the challenges they confront. Join me as I step into the shoes of those living in the shadows, experiencing the highs and lows of their everyday lives. With exclusive access, I met with individuals from all walks of life, including the bold personalities behind HoodVlogs and Tommy G, prominent CZcams channels known for their unfiltered content from similar urban landscapes. Brace yourself for an unvarnished glimpse into the realities of the streets - stories of struggle, survival, and solidarity. This isn't your average travel vlog; it's a raw and unscripted journey into the depths of an urban jungle where danger lurks around every corner. As we peel back the layers of South Englewood, we confront the stark truth about crime, poverty, and the drive for survival. This documentary is a testament to the resilience of a community facing unimaginable challenges and a reflection on the factors that contribute to the city's reputation as the "Most Dangerous City in America.

Per Capita...Chicago is NOT the most dangerous city in America. Not even the 2d most dangerous.

Its crazy to see how they are scared to amit they are traumatized from that lifestyle like its some kind of weakness . It is not weakness. Its normal to be traumatized and have ptsd when you are growing up in these types of environments. I used to think the same way but now that im older i can see it for what it is. It is not normal the way we grow up in these poverty-stricken neighborhoods filled with crime and violence. I hope something eventually changes for the youth going through that every day.

Englewood multiple times, Woodlawn, Auburn Gresham etc. Nothing has never happened. 1+ years doing it 3000+ trips. No shootings, nothing. I have heard a shooting once (that lasted only a couple seconds) in Back of the Yards of the thousands of seconds and hours doing this. Also i saw a shooting in Harvey happen in front of me in front of the Popeyes. A dude started blasting from the alley at a group standing in the gas station. It was a big Ak type sh*t. They ran, i realized what was happening, slowly jumped the curb and get tf out of that drive thru. Harvey is waaaayy more dangerous than anything in Chicago

We're looking at the outcome of generational violence and trauma. Imagine growing up in an area where death and violence are an everyday occurrence. Witnessing friends and family members die a violent death day after day after day. Then you are expected to get payback by inflicting that same pain on someone else. And it never ends. It's war everyday. It's all around you and it's all you know. The saddest part of all of this is no one has the first clue on how to successfully break the cycle. Right now, there are young children witnessing this and accepting it as their fate.

On his first visit, he was driving around with his brother in law and when they were passing thru a neighborhood, his Brother in Law told him to speed up or the people living there would shoot back. Driving slow over means you’ll be doing a drive by. That’s how traumatized and dangerous it is over there.

I know this is a older post. I agree to a extent but you everywhere there's gonna be kids with no support system, or bad parents. Especially in poorer areas, with more single parents forced to work 12-16hrs a day making supervision difficult. Then remeber kids are stupid, imagine your 12 when everyone you know other than dealers are poor, your constantly being tried by other people where there not gonna give you a choice other than to give up what little you have every time they see you or fight. Every kid in these neighborhoods law abiding or not has been searched/detained by police a dozen times,as well as had suburbian people asking to buy drugs at random. It's not so hard for a angsty 12yr going through puberty, that's probably been traumatized in many cases seeing local violence/injustice or general sadness and hardships to start hating the world and not see a realistic way out. It's not hard to understand why people crew up for protection, money, and a support system. Being a kid is hard enough in a good area with support in a neighborhood we're the standards of living, schools, police are much better. It's amazing so many do well

The woman he spoke to earlier was only trying to look out for him, he was visiting one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in America, Englewood is notorious Nationwide for being in one of the worst and most violent and deprived zipcodes/postcodes in America. I walked away and got looked at as an outcast and used to be very bored but I still had friends in that life. I just wish us as black ppl would go back to the mafia mindset we had in the 40s-60s. But it doesn't even matter because the s*** is coming to other areas of Chicago smfh. Also they bs you on some stuff. They weren't going to tell you the truth on camera. I know a lot of people that live over there. You're lucky you made it out of there safe. You couldn't even pay me to walk in that area. And so many kids have been killed because of those a**holes sorry to say because they have to walk around shooting each other. And no their all haters because it has to do with drugs. It’s the culture. Not the environment. Any one of these guys can sign up for a Union apprenticeship and make 100k a year plus benefits like health insurance and pensions . All they need is a GED. Doesn’t matter if they’re a felon or not. You go a few blocks north you got Canaryville. Not a good hood , white trash. But a different world. You go to Back of the Yards right next Englewewood. A tough Mexican hood. But they own their own homes and businesses. They all live in the same environment. Go to the same schools. The difference in those 3 hoods is the culture.
I got a GED. Was homeless as a kid at times. Was involved in drugs and making fast money. Ain’t nothing special about me. I’m average. I got 33 years of union trades. Got a pension coming. Have travelled the world. Lived across the viaduct from these guys. It’s culture man. It’s not the environment. Not a lot of rich privileged people on the south side of Chicago. But there’s one group that keeps falling behind. This group. Pull your pants up. Grow up. Get your GED. Apply for an apprenticeship. Get your union job. And get a life. A real life. Not this bullshit

The part they don't often tell you is that many people live or work in Englewood and don't have any problems. People CAN go about their business and leave the area safely. Hispanics and whites also live in Englewood. They are law abiding just like many black residents and don't get involved in crime or other nonsense. No area is all one thing. People should keep an open mind rather than juding based on the potentially biased perceptions. Derrick Rose and Jennifer Hudson are from Englewood. Ask them and they'll say it was a great place to grow up. But they also had families that kept them out of trouble and in school.

Chicago saw a major rise in violent crime starting in the late 1960s. Murders in the city peaked in 1974, with 970 murders when the city's population was over three million, resulting in a murder rate of around 29 per 100,000, and again in 1992, with 943 murders when the city had fewer than three million people, resulting in a murder rate of 34 murders per 100,000 citizens.
After 1992, the murder count steadily decreased to 415 murders by the mid-2000s, a reduction of over 50 percent. In 2018, there were 561 murders. p.s. never even been in the top 10 mrda capital per capita in decades.... mathematics, the world is much safer than when your parents, grandparents ect. were coming up,
