- In this gripping documentary, join me on an eye-opening journey as I delve into the heart of Chicago's South Englewood neighbourhood, notorious for its reputation as "The Murder Capital of America."
Prepare to be captivated as I take you along on an immersive exploration of the gritty realities that the residents of South Englewood face daily. From across the pond in London, I ventured into the heart of this perilous city, uncovering stories that need to be heard. Witness firsthand encounters with the streets as I navigate through the twists and turns of South Englewood. I interacted with individuals who have chosen a life on the edge, gaining insight into their world and the challenges they confront. Join me as I step into the shoes of those living in the shadows, experiencing the highs and lows of their everyday lives. With exclusive access, I met with individuals from all walks of life, including the bold personalities behind HoodVlogs and Tommy G, prominent CZcams channels known for their unfiltered content from similar urban landscapes. Brace yourself for an unvarnished glimpse into the realities of the streets - stories of struggle, survival, and solidarity. This isn't your average travel vlog; it's a raw and unscripted journey into the depths of an urban jungle where danger lurks around every corner. As we peel back the layers of South Englewood, we confront the stark truth about crime, poverty, and the drive for survival. This documentary is a testament to the resilience of a community facing unimaginable challenges and a reflection on the factors that contribute to the city's reputation as the "Most Dangerous City in America.

Per Capita...Chicago is NOT the most dangerous city in America. Not even the 2d most dangerous.
You entice viewing with a tag line opening, "Join Me"...
...No thanks. I have an aversion against willfully being led down a propagandist rabbit hole.
The most dangerous part is standing near gang members like you were doing.
the lack of gun discipline is crazy good thing the gun never went off cuz they just pointing it at each other like its no tomorrow
Stfu we kno what we doing
They know better than most what guns do. They see it first hand all the time, so yeah, they point them around. JUst watch the music videos.

Its crazy to see how they are scared to amit they are traumatized from that lifestyle like its some kind of weakness . It is not weakness. Its normal to be traumatized and have ptsd when you are growing up in these types of environments. I used to think the same way but now that im older i can see it for what it is. It is not normal the way we grow up in these poverty-stricken neighborhoods filled with crime and violence. I hope something eventually changes for the youth going through that every day.
Seen the pain in they eyes sad everybody can’t make it out the jungle but the whites judge what they never been through
One of the realest comments I’ve read on CZcams in a long time. More love power and light to you my brother. I was the same. But like you said we grow older and get out of this limited mindset. 💜🙏🏾
Oh most definitely it's natural. But the streets don't give a f*ck bout all that. To them it's weakness to admit it and that ain't ever gonna change bruh
Its definitely a weakness in the life they are living. Any showings of human compassion and empathy could spell disaster. They aren’t living a natural human existence, so expecting them to encompass natural human emotions towards trauma is naive.
These people are the biggest bunch of losers.
Living in Chicago all of my life I know that if you choose that life, you'll get what comes with it 💯 Innocent people fall victim to others choices, but I have been blessed enough to not have to worry about my safety and live a good life . Thanking God for protection 🙏🏿

I'm in Uber Driver in Chicago during night and grave yard shift. I do ALL neighborhoods, no exceptions. Englewood multiple times, Woodlawn, Auburn Gresham etc. Nothing has never happened. 1+ years doing it 3000+ trips. No shootings, nothing. I have heard a shooting once (that lasted only a couple seconds) in Back of the Yards of the thousands of seconds and hours doing this. Also i saw a shooting in Harvey happen in front of me in front of the Popeyes. A dude started blasting from the alley at a group standing in the gas station. It was a big Ak type sh*t. They ran, i realized what was happening, slowly jumped the curb and get tf out of that drive thru. Harvey is waaaayy more dangerous than anything in Chicago
It's shocking and sad to think these young men have this attitude and not many of them will live a long life .
We're looking at the outcome of generational violence and trauma. Imagine growing up in an area where death and violence are an everyday occurrence. Witnessing friends and family members die a violent death day after day after day. Then you are expected to get payback by inflicting that same pain on someone else. And it never ends. It's war everyday. It's all around you and it's all you know. The saddest part of all of this is no one has the first clue on how to successfully break the cycle. Right now, there are young children witnessing this and accepting it as their fate.
@@soft_serve_666you are correct in everything you say I hope some day it can change stay safe.
Because they don't know how to live together
It's not shocking...I use to live a life like that....and that's all I knew as a kid....when you know better you do better...they are products of the environment....I never thought I was gone live past 25 when I was in the streets...so I can relate to what they going through 😢..
@@robsauls5302 glad you made it out mate .
My uncle told me a funny ass story about visiting Chicago(he has family over there). On his first visit, he was driving around with his brother in law and when they were passing thru a neighborhood, his Brother in Law told him to speed up or the people living there would shoot back. Driving slow over means you’ll be doing a drive by. That’s how traumatized and dangerous it is over there.
Lies
Bro was probably in Evanston
Lol don’t hit no block and speed it either brother, drive normally and cruise through like u do anywhere else. Don’t go looking for it and keep negative thoughts far off your mental and you’ll be just fine. Can’t be scared to live your life and go somewhere, they go out and frequently go to nice places to brother, if it’s meant to happen it’ll happen just LIVE YOUR LIFE my friend and do right, you’ll be alright ANYWHERE you go good or bad. P.S on my girls account lol
I love these tiny brothers for not blaming anyone but themselves. Hopefully they get a chance to enhance their lives
Crazy interview bro! Fair play to you risking it all to shoot footage in the trenches for us to get a real life feeling of being there! Love bro Aaron P
I honestly want to say thank you for taking the risks, to show us parts of the world, we would never see otherwise. Stay safe
The thing for me is how much of this has to do with the choices that people make. Not everyone in these neighbourhoods lives this type of lifestyle. I know for a fact that there are many youths in the same neighbourhoods that are studying really hard to be somebody productive.
I know this is a older post. I agree to a extent but you everywhere there's gonna be kids with no support system, or bad parents. Especially in poorer areas, with more single parents forced to work 12-16hrs a day making supervision difficult. Then remeber kids are stupid, imagine your 12 when everyone you know other than dealers are poor, your constantly being tried by other people where there not gonna give you a choice other than to give up what little you have every time they see you or fight. Every kid in these neighborhoods law abiding or not has been searched/detained by police a dozen times,as well as had suburbian people asking to buy drugs at random. It's not so hard for a angsty 12yr going through puberty, that's probably been traumatized in many cases seeing local violence/injustice or general sadness and hardships to start hating the world and not see a realistic way out. It's not hard to understand why people crew up for protection, money, and a support system. Being a kid is hard enough in a good area with support in a neighborhood we're the standards of living, schools, police are much better. It's amazing so many do well
Love the way you have done this video great editing and quality respect to you for going down there to give these guys a voice 🙏🏾

I genuinely felt nervous for man, coming from the same city I spent a lot of my youth, id gladly walk through the roughest estates in Brum as opposed to this, thankfully he came out in one piece. The woman he spoke to earlier was only trying to look out for him, he was visiting one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in America, Englewood is notorious Nationwide for being in one of the worst and most violent and deprived zipcodes/postcodes in America. Ive lived in the States as well and driven through some of these hoods, although I found inner city Baltimore and Philly even more scary and dangerous than The South Side of Chicago.

We dont realise that if we grew up in that environment l, we could easily get caught up and dragged in, even if we dont really want to, if we had brothers or cousins on the roads and grew up in The South Side of Chicago, we could already end up an opp to someone from the next neighbourhood without even wanting anything to do with the beef.

Aaron, God bless your work. I hope you spend time alone and in prayer to mentally and spiritually recover from these demonic spirits. I stopped working in the prison system for that reason. You can't stay among darkness for a long period of time.
The south side of Chicago used to be nice like 20 years ago even. When the housing projects were up the crime was a lot lessor. You used to be able to go to the south side and enjoy yourself.
Crime rate was double back in da day than now actually. It was 1200 to 1500 homocides from 1980 to 1996 but it was more disciplined that's the word u trying to say because it was structure nobody was reckless outside wit weapons unless they had to. All the Big Heads locked up or dead so that leave these youngings out here with no guidance so this what u get., recklessness....
🤔
@@coreypatterson1007right I find that hard to believe lol
@johncovington3065 he ain't lying tho. When the projects were there, the crime and violence was contained ti those buildings. Once they came down, everyone expanded around the city and the criminals along with them so now it was a 4 block radius now it was a 60 Block radius.
Same thing happened to Baltimore. Taking down a project is the worst thing for a inner city with crime.

A lot of people here say, “it’s okay to admit you’re traumatized. It’s okay to admit that you’re in a shitty spot, why aren’t they admitting it?” If they admit that they’re weak, because they are human, they will end up dead. In this environment they force upon themselves a war like mentality. It never ends until it ends. So they do a defense mechanism for their subconscious.

Where I grew up wasn’t the best neighborhood (don’t get me wrong it definitely wasn’t south side Chicago or Baltimore or anything) but that looking over you shoulder is ingrained in you. Look at every car, watch to see if there’s someone behind you or following you. Never know when there’s a whole group of guys trailing you or just stray dog looking for an ass to bite
Yeah i do it from years of being an addict, if im stood near an alleyway or somewhere i dont like i find myself still doing it automatically and it drives me mad. I still stand at bus stops if i have to stand in the street so i dont get robbed or picked up. Hate that feeling. From a fairly normal british city as well. Id never stand somewhere like this

Damn. They actually are pretty intelligent and squared away young adults, just in a terrible environment with no guidance and little opportunity. If there was a legal way to get them paid well as a team without the constant threat of violence I’m sure they’d take it and change their lives around (at least some of them)
Easy bro! Thanks for watching and I agree they were cool guys man and super welcoming but they are a product of their own environment unfortunately! Aaron
It’s the culture. Not the environment. Any one of these guys can sign up for a Union apprenticeship and make 100k a year plus benefits like health insurance and pensions . All they need is a GED. Doesn’t matter if they’re a felon or not. You go a few blocks north you got Canaryville. Not a good hood , white trash. But a different world. You go to Back of the Yards right next Englewewood. A tough Mexican hood. But they own their own homes and businesses. They all live in the same environment. Go to the same schools. The difference in those 3 hoods is the culture.
I got a GED. Was homeless as a kid at times. Was involved in drugs and making fast money. Ain’t nothing special about me. I’m average. I got 33 years of union trades. Got a pension coming. Have travelled the world. Lived across the viaduct from these guys. It’s culture man. It’s not the environment. Not a lot of rich privileged people on the south side of Chicago. But there’s one group that keeps falling behind. This group. Pull your pants up. Grow up. Get your GED. Apply for an apprenticeship. Get your union job. And get a life. A real life. Not this bullshit

The part they don't often tell you is that many people live or work in Englewood and don't have any problems. People CAN go about their business and leave the area safely. Hispanics and whites also live in Englewood. They are law abiding just like many black residents and don't get involved in crime or other nonsense. No area is all one thing. People should keep an open mind rather than juding based on the potentially biased perceptions. Derrick Rose and Jennifer Hudson are from Englewood. Chicago saw a major rise in violent crime starting in the late 1960s. Murders in the city peaked in 1974, with 970 murders when the city's population was over three million, resulting in a murder rate of around 29 per 100,000, and again in 1992, with 943 murders when the city had fewer than three million people, resulting in a murder rate of 34 murders per 100,000 citizens.
After 1992, the murder count steadily decreased to 415 murders by the mid-2000s, a reduction of over 50 percent. In 2018, there were 561 murders. p.s. never even been in the top 10 mrda capital per capita in decades.... mathematics, the world is much safer than when your parents, grandparents ect. were coming up,
