This is honestly the perfect content to unwind after drooling over all the new graphics cards nobody can afford, thank you Dawid.
the size and power consumption of the 4000 cards dried my mouth out. really coudln't care about it's performance after seeing those two things. saving my money for a 3080.
Arc also came out recently....
@@Powerman293 arc does me no good , considering i'm on a ryzen 2700 cpu . it'll loose about 20fps since i don't have rebar , or amd's equivilant SAM. (which is only on 3000+ series ryzens). and i need a card that can do 4k. so it's 3080 for me , in 1-2 more pay checks depending on my living expenses.

Okay, considering this iGPU is performing as well as it is with just 2 GPU cores I am with you too, I can't wait to see what actual APUs can do. Dare I say 1080p60 with medium to high settings? If they manage that then that will stir up the entry level market for sure.
the Radeon 680m (mobile iGPU) is exactly that :)

@@Incommensurabilities As someone with a 680M it's surprisingly powerful
@@Incommensurabilities Well it's a look at what to expect for sure but it's a mobile chip that will be limited by power and thermals. A desktop chip will have much more power available so hopefully will be significantly better.
@@machintrucGaming RTX 1030? didn't know nvidia made budget low-profile ray tracing capable cards.
On Gigabyte by default, the Integrated Graphics is set to Auto with 512MB ram. Go to the bios and change Integrated Graphics from Auto to Forces and then you will see another menu UMA mode and change it from Auto to UMA Specified and then you will see another option called UMA Frame Buffer Size and now you can set it from Auto to 4G, 8G, 16G VRAM. But in order to unlock 4, 8 and 16 you need to change another 2 options: Above 4G Decoding to Enable and Re-Size BAR to Auto/Enable. And then the 4, 8 and 16GB are unlocked!
Does this work the same with discrete graphics? I’m not able to find anything outside of resizable BAR for my Asrock B550. I think that it’s a Phantom 4 non pro.
VRAM allocation set on BIOS doesn't matter actually, as the iGPU (and any GPU for that matter) will take up to half of the system RAM as VRAM whenever needed, it's all automatic. Increasing the dedicated allocation only takes away RAM for the rest of your programs, system, cache, etc. and doesn't offer any performance improvements.
MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, and a lot of other system monitors, don't show this dynamic VRAM allocation, that's why it always shows 500MB (the default dedicated allocation), but it's actually using much more.
oh before bashing like an idiot, that extra allocation doesn't help much instead of eating up ram for extra 1 fps.
will this actually do anything ? it should use what it needs.
I wonder if it's only using 500 MB of ram for the iGPU because of a setting in the BIOS. I remember my laptop BIOS had a setting to change how much ram is allocated to the iGPU (from 256mb to 4gb)
Most likely. Those things are usually set to auto and auto doesn't take more than 512MB in my experience. You always have to manually up the ram amount
Meh, the iGPU usually uses as much ram as it needs to, and the manual memory allocation is only useful for those games that requires a minimum amount of vram to run
Constantino is right
Even if I set my vram allocation to the lowest it would still surpass that once the games load.
In short, it does not matter.
@@critiqalerror It's been years and Ryzen iGPUs still show their memory allocation rather than their actual memory usage in this kind of software, I wonder who is to blame.
iirc you should be able to set it to 2gb, but i understand the point that it doesnt actually matter
I think this is pretty impressive for its specification! A dedicated APU variant would be brilliant.
Likely will be in laptops
@@crazybeatrice4555 there will be a G variant I'm sure.....like 5600G and 5700G
@@intriguingfacts5434 Comparing 7XXXG with 5XXXG gonna be good
I agree! APUs are so promising. 😃
@@crazybeatrice4555 There already is. The 6000 mobile chips have RDNA2 mobile (like the 6800U and 6900HS) have a 12 CU RDNA2 GPU - 680m. Even at 30-40w combined power it can handle Cyberpunk at around 30fps, 40fps with FSR. For integrated graphics that's pretty mental.
I think AMD only added the iGPU on these to match Intel's feature set--being able to run without a separate graphics card is really useful in the server sector. Still, surprised how well it handled these games regardless!
It is required for USB4 to be used for display and required display port meaning a GPU in mobo.
it's really useful in many situations, really.
They only added it for troubleshooting mostly. Not really intended for use as your only GPU.
@@BrooklynBalla No, they added it for OEMs. It doesn't matter if your CPU costs less and performs better if the OEM still has to put a $50 video card in there just to sell it for office use, and waiting for AMD to maybe make some APUs with them in there wasn't really worth the wait.
an iGPU is very hand for anything, i don't know why we are fighting over it.
Imagine they just had a really really really thin Low profile cooler in that box 🤣🤣
Hardware Canucks go _nuts_ for low-profile coolers, you can bet they'd have a video on it, lol.
(it’s just a single piece of aluminum foil wrapped around the CPU)
I’m sure the iGPU would run even hotter. 😂
Man, I always have love for AMD and their graphics cores. Like the 200ge - especially now that it's hitting the second hand market - can really help youngsters game even if they weren't born in a wealthy country or to wealthy parents in poorer countries. And it seems the APUs are gonna get a big performance bump for the 7000 series. Nice.

Also wanted to mention, I checked a few boards regarding the 4K60 limitation, this may be down to the board as a board such as MSI PRO X670-P WIFI lists 4K120 for the HDMI port. Whats weird is AMD's marketing slide for the 7000 series iGPU does only list 4K60 even though it also shows HDMI 2.1, so I have no idea if you can actually drive a 4K120 display with a 7600X iGPU...
you havent heard? hdmi 2.1 basically means nothing now. you should look into it
I newly discovered you and finally getting videos that aren’t 6million years old 😂
Haha!! Nice. Glad to see in the present.
That 650000% is kind of a bug which can be fixed by enabling "unified gpu" option in msi afterburner
They haven't fixed that bug since vega integrated graphics.
the real highlight here is how Corsair monitor comes in a crate, truly makes me wanna get one for myself lol
With Dawid's channel around, no wonder we're approaching thermal run off! I could see the ice caps actively melting as you ran that cpu.
I'm only here for the market advice. I was trying to figure out which APU to get, now I know! Thanks Dawid!
kind makes me hopeful for if they eventually bin down the dregs of zen 4 chips to a 700ge or something like that!
I wonder if you could increase the VRAM on the iGPU? I did that on my 5600g increasing from 512mb to 2gb by just fiddling around the bios settings. Not familiar with Gigabyte bios but Asus has that in their bios
that sounds very weird, what did you do, did you share actual RAM to the igpu?
@@x2stefan2701 yes
It makes pretty much no difference. If the iGPU needs to allocate more system memory, it will do so automatically.
The setting is good for games that won't boot and shows a "not enough memory" error.

According to the AMD laptop roadmap, the successor to the 6000 series should be getting RDNA3 CUs, if AMD continues with using those chips for the desktop APUs and allows up to 12 CU again (like 6000 series with 680m) that could be a pretty exciting desktop APU!

Yea, for 500$. lol
Dawid you are great I enjoy watching your uploads and always happy to see one on my CZcams homepage
iGPU? Isn't that the terminology for team blue?
Yeah but people nowadays use both iGPU and APU interchangeably between AMD and Intel.
These tests are more fun than watching $1600 video cards do well.
It sounds like you set stuff in the BIOS correctly, but it sucks it would never use more than 512MB.
I wonder if "UMA Game Optimized" would run better than UMA Specified (which I assume you used to set to 16G by hand). Also wonder if the boards have the same use (typo?) of Forces instead of Forced.

I do hope that the G variants (you know, the ones that are supposed to have actually good integrated graphics) utilize the RINA2 cores. It’s clear these were put in here just for basic use, but having 8 RDNA2 (or 3) cores will be sick!
they might ut RDNA 3 in there, like 8 RDNA 3 cores, (allegedly equivalent to 16 rdna2 cores) or mayb even 12 CUs like the 680m in ryzen 6000 apus.
I’ve been looking forward to this!
iGPU does take surface on a chip die. Therefore, when creating iGPU you need to chose between : 1. sacrificing performance of main CPU in order to have decent iGPU (AMD strategy for their G processors) 2. have very basic iGPU in order to have performant CPU (Intel strategy so far with their non-F processors) . Intel was aiming for office and business market, while AMD targeted budget home computers . Looks like AMD now tries to grab part of the "serious" market from Intel.
Actually, Amd's G series processors are repurposed from their laptop's APU. That's why. if you delid the G series CPU, it will have a single die unlike the chiplets they use normally. And although I agree, AMD needs to choose between performance and cost efficiency, they still created the best APU aka 6800H which has 680m and if you see some benchmarks online, you know it performs almost like a GTX 1050ti Desktop.
@@idksurely1578 True, but as CPU 6800H is much slower as CPU than lets say 5800X which is older technology. Things like L3 cache need to be sacrificed to get decent iGPU.

Yeah, when they say HDMI 2.1, it means the feature set, rather than the bandwidth. You'd have to look up the info per device yourself.
Might be worth looking into the ram usage of the igu as if you have set it that amount then it should be using it. The 3200g ipu with 2gb allocated uses that when 16gb ram is installed, so I'm surprised that works without issues, but the 7000 doesn't seem to be using more than a gig

IGPU have limits in bios. You might want to allow it to use 16G as default is 512MB. I believe it's bios specific, and you will have 2 or 4 GB limit, not 16 on most boards. You might want to check radeon software, it might allow you to change it as well. its will be either dedicated or UMA memory for igpu.
honestly i'm surprised on how BAD it performed. my ryzen apu on laptop performs better than this. but i think you're right, it might be the vram.
@@nurphurecarnium The thing is, this isn't supposed to be an APU, it's a CPU with some minimal integrated graphics thrown in, probably just for hardware encoding or troubleshooting a GPU.
Looking at it from that angle, it's pretty damn impressive, especially if it's memory is bottlenecked to 512MB
Correct ! The default on most boards is 512mb as you stated. Yo can allocate up to 16 GB in Bios. However, I believe if not mistaken it will only use 2GB of this. Still better than 512.........I have allocated 4GB with my Ryzen 4650G, just to be sure.
You should’ve tried to allocate more vram to the igpu, because it was pegged at 480MB it might have done better with a little more but I’m not sure

Mid-tiered cpus like the R5 should have ample graphics cores. They can reduce the cpu core count, frequency and add more to the iGPU side of things to get people going that are on a budget. I understand that the R7 and R9 should be bare essentials to get the system going, but if you're buying an R5, you don't have a lot of money to spend on a GPU or girthy power supply so why not put a few more RDNA2 cores in there to get you up and running 1080 AAA gaming on a budget.
I find it very suspicious that less than 512MB of VRAM was used at all times. I wonder if it's an issue with the monitoring overlay, or some obscure settings in the BIOS?
Yup, MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, and a lot of other system monitors, don't show the dynamic VRAM allocation that happens with iGPUs all the time, only the static one (which by default is 512MB). In reality this iGPU is probably using multiple GBs.

I believe you can change the “vram” for the igpu in the bios somewhere but it defaults to 512mb.
I'm still ultra pissed that the 6800u has no desktop counterpart.
Why the graphic usage is 499mb? You not use the resize bar? Witouth this the igpu use only 256mb/core! The G series almost use 2gb! You can tray to increase the shared memory and turn on the resize bar..the igpu is rdna2 based and is essential enable it!

Don't expect it. AMD does not care about their OG fans anymore. 6 core is the low-end now, even though the price is premium still. If the IGP on the new APUs are going to perform, they are gonna ask the price for them. Like 350 or even more maybe.
