On a quick note, be careful when speccing these Alienware systems up with the higher-end Nvidia GPUs. They use blower style coolers unless you pay an extra $200 for the GPU AIO thing (Which is only available with the 2080 Super for some reason). Many people have complained that the blower style cards overheat badly. So please keep that in mind. Sorry about missing that detail in the video and shoutout to Timmy Joe PC Tech for pointing that out to me.
Yes! Timmy Joe dealt with a 2080ti out of one of these.

Yeah. Now that im older I use a heap of high end parts slapped together in a cardboard box. Function over aesthetics !!
Yeah me too. I built a few pcs over the years. But like this review said some of their sales are pretty good as long as you know what your doing. I got one nearly two years ago on a black Friday sale. I was a bit nervous as you could imagine. I know my tech so I made sure I got good dual channel ram a good ssd and most importantly a9900k with a water cooled loop. So far so good I mean the pc is a beast so happy with it. During full load my 2080ti peaks at 73 degrees and I know it sounds crazy but the water cooling and the cpu is flawless. I Have it running at about 4.95ghz and it runs around 55 to 60 degrees max. I got one of these for like 1200$, specced with a 10700KF and 2080Super. Probably the best deal I've gotten and works VERY well for me.
That's an amazing deal considering people on ebay are trying to sell 2070 super for a ridiculous price. It makes alienware and pre built products a more attractive choice.
My homie spent 1000 and got a i5 9400f, 8gb single stick ram and a 1650 💀
It's only a good deal because of current market situation. The problem with Dell pc's is that they are engineering around a 20 year old chassee to make it fit parts from 2021. PC's didn't need much cooling back then.

@@besomewheredosomething Dawid was being way too nice. Firstly, you have to deal with that horrible case referring to the form factor. Secondly, it lacks upgradability because that motherboard was heavily skimped on, also the PSU, memory, and storage were also skimped on as-well, though as you're talking about a Laptop which is just terrible price performance in general I guess it's not an issue for you.
I think only the GPU wasn't skimped on.
Also to fix the thermal issues with laptops, you have to turn them into normal PCs with cooling pads, negating the reason for them, portability, and even that desktop in the video was suffering some serious CPU heat issues which will kill performance and lifespan of it.
So basically the Apple of PC manufacturers

Awesome and entertaining video as always.
When you upgraded the ram you changed 3 things: Single to Dual channel, 8 to 16gb, and speed from 2666 to 3200mhz. It would be interesting to know which of these three changes had the most impact. For example I'm guessing moving to dual channel had the most impact followed by capacity increase, so would most of the performance increase have been possible by adding another 8gb stick at 2666mhz for probably half the cost of the 2 stick upgrade ?
Over a year late but I'm still impressed by how much of a performance boost you can get with a properly set up configuration. Channels like yours have save me hundreds in avoiding upgrades by learning how to configure hardware settings correctly.
On an unrelated note, I'm so happy that non RGB cases and components are slowly making a return. It always bugged me that manufacturers (especially case manufacturers) were sacrificing performance in favor of sticking as many RGB light strips into a system as possible. I'd rather not burn my CPU to a crisp thank you very much!
i have a little conspiracy theory, so dell uses intel A LOT right, and we know that some sources are very biased towards intel like userbenchmark and they hate amd for market share and stock purposes. so hear me out, what if they picked the non hyperthreading version of the ryzen and paired it with only 8 gigs ON PURPOSE and then marketed it as a “ryzen pc” in order to make AMD look bad. it all just lines up too well

Unfortunately, the air-cooled option was not available for the system deal. We have the Dark Side of the Moon cool which does not have the same lighting options as the White system. This is fine as the system would be positioned such that the lights would not be seen. The system looks good but like many have mentioned it has cooling issues. We have the system raised on a mesh stand with plenty of room for cooling. We first noticed the fans making a clicking noise while idling! I checked to make sure all fans are working and they are. We completed all updates and with nothing running while on idle the system CPU keeps jumping from 62° to 100° Celsius while the CPU performance is bouncing around the lowest to the highest. This is occurring while the system is idling without anything installed yet and no overclocking! Not a good omen. Also noticed there are no VRM heatsinks installed on this unit which could account for some of the CPU heat. The stock CPU fan is anemic. The interior design is small and will not fit a stock RTX card if you wanted to upgrade it. It is not a system to upgrade over time but again at the $980 price point, I didn't care. If we could have purchased a water-cooled system at the reduced price point we would have and I believe the design hinders the ability of the system to adequately air cool it. It is noisy when it kicks in cooling. What is surprising we were running a Lenovo Legion 7i notebook on the desk with a docking station (10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10750H Processor, NVIDIA RTX2070 Max-Q) at full settings in games and couldn't hear it but the R12 is like a fan running on high! Again we are so disappointed and will go back to using the Legion 7i.
Great video!
I was thinking same thing, when I went to Linus TechTips to get an honest review... It was an "honest review" but, they got the 4000$ Alienware Desktop/Laptop models to review.
This isn't what the common viewer is looking for...
I’ve always wondered this... if aliens show up... how long until alienware as a brand disappears due to being offensive.
I like how this CZcamsr....responds to all the comments ♥️
Oof
I had an Alienware Laptop, M17xR3, that had a board failure with months left on my warranty. Dell not only sent me a new board but also a new battery and charger. Had picture showing it was only the board but they sent the extras to be safe. Personally not a fan of there desktops but I'm also someone who encourages other to build there own PCs. Now though if your in the market for a sweet laptop Alienware is the way to go.
They tech company I work for is partnered with dell and a tornado hit one of their facilities and we got all the “damaged stuff” and now our warehouse is full of these Auroras and Area 51s and almost anything Alienware lol it’s pretty cool to see someone check them out now we use them as test benches for our sea of graphics cards
Nah, I prefer my space heater laptop over this nuclear fusion core
