Carter Beauford, the drummer, is a bad dude!
One of my favorite drummers. He doesn't get mentioned nearly enough.
I saw John Bonham, Neil Peart. Neither of them made me move as much as Carter and the Dave Matthews Band did. Of course, the other two you just sat there in awe lol
The best! So versatile with that open handed style
Yes, incredibly great. Reminiscent of Billy Cobham, he plays open handed and is heavily jazz influenced.
Hell yeah!!!!!
Ive been drumming for over 25 years and still struggle with almost all of Daves songs. Carter is in a class all by himself man.
RIP LeRoi Moore. The original woodwinds player for DMB. His live solos were amazing.
Never heard a better horn player…EVER!
LeRoi was just AMAZING!
Carter Beauford, the drummer, is considered the best of the best, top drummer. And of course Boyd Tinsley, the violinist, is legendary. Take a listen to the studio version of this song, it's real tight and the way it all flows and blends and the amazing sounds, it's one of my favorite all time songs. Guaranteed to put anyone in a good mood.
Early 90s caught "this guy from South Africa with a good band" at a tiny club in Victoria, Canada. Everyone there took the next day off work. Insane.
Thanks for introducing this to me. Wow incredible!. I am going to download this. Fantastic reaction fellas! Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Gotta love that improvised 3 minute intro! Dave Matthews Band live is always a celebration of the musical experience! There's obvious reasons why they are one of the perennial and consistent Top 10 touring bands in the US for the last 20 years. Seeing them jamming on stage... doesn't get much better.
Brilliant live band, all 8 times I've seen them. Easily the tightest live band I've ever seen. The standout show for me was 2001 in Dallas at Texas Stadium (openers were Angelique Kidjo and Wyclef, who did a cover of Wish You Were Here) - Roof open, 95 degrees, 100% humidity. When they took the stage, Dave was completely dry. They played 2.5 hours straight, no breaks. By the end the only thing dry on Dave was literally his pant cuffs/bottom hem. RIP Leroi Moore.
There's so much joy in their music.
The DMB (and his solo work) offer a deep well. And as a side note, you should check out various tracks from the concert film ‘Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at Radio City Music Hall’. It’s just him and his guitarist on two acoustic guitars and a grand piano, and it’s awesome. It’s stripped down music with passion. But there’s so much to dig into.
“Bartender” - the first song from that performance - is like a spiritual experience!
One of the best recordings *ever* ❤️
@@brendafloyd1532100%!!’
Came here to say the same thing! Bartender is absolutely amazing!
And all of their live albums sounds just this Damn crispy 😅 9:04
La and Che!!!! There you go again! My (late) son's name was David Matthew, and of course we listened to Dave Matthews Band all the time during his illness. You picked a great live one to review today. Thanks so much! God bless you both! ....May I suggest the Listener Supported live album...full of deep cuts!
Allison, I have the listener supported cd's, fantastic. And of course this song was my favorite of this breakout album. Very sorry for your loss. I'm sure he was up there and right next to you as you watched this. 😇
@@joelong7448 Thank you for your kind words. Peace and blessings to you and yours.🙏
People hate on Dave, but try and play these songs on your guitar and sing them, and we'll talk again. This band is so talented it's insane.
Dude, ive been playing ANTS for years. Since, like ‘95…and i STILL struggle, and nevermind Stone, grace is gone and minarets. I have, though, on more than one occasion… less than 2 hands worth, made it though Warehouse… 😂😂😂flat out, dude’s got amazing skills🤙🏻
@@johnaustin3187 In HS I hated them, if my friends were around, but I owned Under The Table And Dreaming and bumped it...When I was alone. But I have been an unabashed fan for a long time now. As soon as I tried to learn Crash Into You to impress my girl, I decided I should aim a little lower. Playing them is hard enough but singing them AND playing them is different, good luck.
Carter Beauford is a beast on the kit. Top ten for me
Top 5 for me.🙂
Also happiest drummer out there
Dave Matthews live is so much fun. They’re jamming the whole time, and the crowd fully participates. Incredible musicians. Carter’s drumming is amazing, as is everyone else. Ants Marching always the highlight of their shows.
These boys play for the love of playing. The respect and friendship is immense, and I always say that I think they forget that there's even an audience there sometimes lol but it's not in a bad way at all, it's part of what makes DMB who they are. Watching them play live is the closest I'll ever get to heaven.
Not only do they still tour, but they are known as one of the best live bands you can ever see. RIP Leroi 😢 everyone of them is the top of their instrumental class. Dave with time Reynolds is also incredible beyond words have fun yall
Play that song so many times on MTV when I was young. I grew to despise it. sounds good now. After all these years, especially live .good stuff, God bless. Thanks fellows
Love you guys. I hope I can convince you to check out Robert Cray Band. Great voice, great guitar & great stories told with the lyrics. Try and see what you think of "Right Next Door" & " The forecast calls for pain"
Great call!
Dave’s band has always been killer!!! Another musical pothole especially for Che 😊
I love that y’all did DMB. Reactors act like they don’t exist!!!!
The Dave Matthews band is the best band that you can still see in concert! Love 'em!
I'm so glad ya'll got around to this one, I'm a big fan of the Dave Mathews Band. This song "Ants Marching" is from their debut album and is one of the bands best known songs. However, the band has a pretty deep discography. Here's another live performance, if interested. "Dave Mathews Band - The Dreaming Tree (Live at Piedmont Park)" this song I've suggested is from their album called "Before These Crowded Streets" released in 1998. (IMO) this band has been hugely successful and definitely overlooked here on CZcams. The Dave Mathews Band has released ten studio albums, eighty-five live albums, three compilation albums, eight video albums, two extended plays, thirty-six singles (including one as a featured artist) and twenty-one music videos...DMB has sold over 33 million albums in the USA. I really enjoyed jamming with you fellas' thanks so much for sharing. peace out~
One of my favorite reaction videos on the internet. I love y’all boys
It was perfect timing with the right people at the right time in the right place in Virginia that formed this band. My favorite band ever. I just learned that DMB's debut album was certified 6x platinum.
This was the best reaction I have seen you guys do yet. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the two of you. One introducing the music to the other. Can’t wait to hear some more Dave Matthews! They have such a deep rabbit hole to go through.
Yea!!! DMB!!! Love this one!
Really enjoyed this reaction. Listened to this gem 1,000 times, have seen the band live many times; but listening to it with the both of you brought the feeling I had when first listening to it so long ago!
"People in every direction...no words exchanged, there's no time to exchange them.. all the little ants are marching, black and red antennae waving....and we all do it the same wayyyy!"
This is from their debut album, Under the Table and Dreaming. For me, their first 4 or 5 albums are just ridiculous, truly amazing music. Frankly don't care as much for their later albums, especially after the first Glen Ballard produced one changed their styles and structure to a more "radio friendly" stuff, but they still come out with some good newer stuff overall, just not as good as those first 5 albums.
First time ive ever listen to that the whole way 😂. Aazing.
first time taking a listen to this Badass!
This is Dope!!
I love your excitement!!
You guys are a vibe..... I came here for the Dave Matthews Band reaction, but I'm subscribing because of you two and your camera presence\chemistry. - from a man from all the way over in Australia 'bout to go binge the s@#t out of your channel.
I would love to see you guys react to Jimi Thing live in Central Park. It's amazing
Best concert atmosphere you could hope for.
And Dave is one of the nicest people to talk with.
A band based on generosity and building on each other’s strengths… and tons of humour.
WOW! That's cookin' with some HOT grease! One UNIQUE band. Amazing talent in every player. They're sizzling hot.🔥& Tastee! More please👍🏻
Careful, a couple more DMB tunes and Che's liable to go on a binge for days!
One of the best most underrated nasty drummers out there Mr. Carter Beauford !!!! The rest of the band is also damn good as is Dave.
That's a Baaad Jam right there.
That was phenomenal! 🔥 Maybe I should put them on my concerts to see list. Pure energy!
“Rapunzel” is the song, and violin performance, that got me hooked. I knew of Dave Matthews but wasn’t a big fan early on (they drew the stoner crowd at college, which wasn’t my crowd). I was given tickets to a show later on, and that song in particular blew me away. (No pun intended 😏)
you guys killed this blind review! huge ass grin through the entire thing :)
In another year we'll make it to Billy Strings.
Hell yeah!!
I've watched them twice in Brazil. It's time to see them again 'tiil it's too late.
The drummer is so good !
WoW !!
Dave has a unique voice. It’s so perfect in these songs. No one can truly cover this song, this band and voice isn’t easily replicated.
That was awesome, thanks..kinda makes you glad to be alive, huh...
So is the bass player! 👍
I saw DMB open up for Phish back in 94. For phish’s encore both bands played “All Along the Watchtower “. It was great
Marshall tucker band marshall tucker band they're legends of course, toy caldwell and his brother😊
Marshall Tucker man, they hooked up with Charlie Daniels giving my feather and her aunt brother went crazy. A song's called 24 hours. I was doing it on the stage, brother rotten proud of you twenty four hours
Marshall Tucker band I try Marshall Tucker band say hello. Thanks out a song code in my own way. The song is in my own way. It's marshall tucker band they got charlie daniels😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Marshall Tucker band. Question mark that's right a marshall talk about I do a song called virginia lock the state to state of virginia marshall duckers got a song Brother entertain you entertain gifts her entertainment gives her
I was probably at that show, been to many, and they are a huge event, a bunch of amazing musicians, putting on a great show, which turns out to be a great time !
"Dave Matthews Band - #41 w/ The Flecktones - 4/20/02 - Ottawa - [32min Version]" Yes they riff this song out to 32 minutes, Part because they had the Flecktones up as well and I think everyone in both bands had a solo.
Their "Jimi Thing" performance in Central park is pretty fantastic too. 13+ minutes of riffs. Carter Beauford the Drummer you can just see the joy in this performance.
My son is named after that drummer, best on the planet!
Bill Bruford is still alive, no?
Leight weight mosh pit! Priceless. Dave Matthews Band are pretty much genius musicians. Incredible & so gifted with their magic making. Thank you for sharing this one. Never without love for this band. Quite something when you see them live. Keep enjoying.
I love the Dave Matthews stereotype in comedy. It reminds me of my older brother lmao.
Dude that would be a concert for sure
YO YOU C RACKIN ME UP. CUZ THIS IS THE BESTEST... I LOVE MEEEEEE ALL DAY DMB
LOVE DMB!!! It's like a MUSICAL SCHMORGASBOARD!!!! Instrumentals are SO BOLD AND RICH!!! Can't go wrong with THIS rabbit-hole!! HUGS! 🤍☮
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Love this. Subbed.
Thanks for finally getting to DMB. I knew this would be up your alley. DMB is great on record, but is a differnt beast live. You need to check them out when they come your way. La as a drummer you wont be able to take your eye off Carter Beauford. The dude is incredible and may be the best living drummer.
Please check out Grey Street live Central Park. If fact do that whole concert and you wont be disappointed.
That drummer is elite elite at that technical groove style!! Carter Beauford He goes around North America doing drum clinics as a teacher... endorsed by Yamaha drums and some stick company (i forget which one)
I was at this one.
Not the best DMB show I've seen, but we got to sing to Roi for his birthday.
It would be the last time I saw him.
RIP Mr Moore.
I saw Dave Matthews Band for the first time in Vegas in 1995. They opened 3 shows for The Grateful Dead. It was the first time I ever saw an electric violin and they blew me away, they were sooo much fun!!!👍👍👌👌✌✌😁😁
Its A Beautiful Day was a late 60s folk / psychedelic band the was built around Electric violins. Their song White Bird got a decent amount of airplay in the day
Have you guys ever listened to ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)? Rocking strings are strong in that one. They were one of the biggest bands of the 70s. Mr. Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Do YA are popular songs.
must see the video by Carter Beauford entitled Under the Table and Drumming...Epic stuff
My favorite DMB song is "Crash into me".
Dave is INDEED playing with Hall of Famers. He hand selected them while bartending in Charlottesville, NC. He admits to selecting them to exploit them for their magical talents. 30+ shows for me. I absolutely love the diversity of this band- race, style, and creativity. Best ever.
VA - at miller's, which is still open and still has live music almost every night of the week.
Hell yeah I’m always here for some Dave Matthews 🙌🏼❤😎
I love how their intros are just like them warming up like buds 😊
Don't sleep on the drummer either. Carter is phenomenal with the sticks
Absolute BANGER. Dave is built different, in a great way.
That was absolutely beautiful to watch, what a fantastic band.
Dave Matthews Band- The Last Stop (Live In Chicago '98)
YALL REMIND ME OF MY HOMIES.... MATT COHWER AND WADE ANYWAY. ..... I FEEL LIKE IM CHILLIN WITH YALL. GREAT WORK
1 of the Best Live Songs I ever Saw&Heard!
We need some more DMB ASAP fellas. No kidding.. you can't do 1 and leave us hanging like this.
you got to react to Dave Matthews #41 - incredible song!!!
Dave and his band are incredible!!
A great video to react to is Dave and the band with Warren Haynes play Cortez the Killer! Warren is insanely good in the video!!
This was in 2007, a benefit concert to raise money for Piedmont Park in Atlanta. The live show was released on CD in 2007 as well, "Live at Piedmont Park". The Allman Brothers were there too. More than 80, 000 in attendance. One of the best concerts I have ever been to! So glad you chose a live version of this song! Carter Beauford 🔥
Dreaming Tree from the same show is a must!!
Thank you so much for this one! One of my favorite songs ever!
Yay! They are really good live. Virginia in the Rain is one of my favorite songs of his. For those with daughters....or sons for that matter...kids in general, will relate to this song. Lovely song. And the drums kill it!
Beauford should be part of the conversation when people discuss The Great One
GREAT song by the band of the 90s…and beyond! Lots of pool and beer to DMB on the box….what a talented bunch of musicians! Gotta dig their vinyl out now…thanks fellas! Loved the reaction esp La! I enjoyed it all!
Now that you're getting into some Dave Matthews, there's two videos you need to check out. They did a cover of Cortez the killer live in Central Park with special guest Warren Haynes. Then check out a later live version of Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers, with Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Derek Trucks is the nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the drummers from the Allman Bros.
Great to see how much you guys loved live DMB. They were my favorite band for many years. I've seen them live 35ish times (lost count sometime after 30). This performance is a great representation of what their shows are like. That is very much the vibe for most, if not all of the 3 hours they are playing. I'd watch any reaction videos you do for these guys.
I’ve been fortunate to see them live several times and they really put on a show. He usually performs over Memorial Day weekend in the Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA. ❤❤❤
Check out Two Step from the same show. (Live in Central Park 2003). 🤘🏼❤️
Been touring for 34 years, almost consecutively. I think 3 or 4 out of those they didn’t go out. And every stadium, arena, venue of every show is packed, with people from all backgrounds, all age. It’s insane. And once you go to the shows, studio albums just don’t hold a candle.
❤😊❤😊❤DON’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS❤😊❤!!!.
except for every other song/performance these guys have reacted to
Went to see them in concert for the first time last summer, better than I expected. Totally worth going to see
Chills from beginning to end....❤
Dave Matthews is so fun!
2 step at MSG would be right up your alley.
🎉 If you like electric violin 🎻, try on some David La Flame from the band, It’s a Beautiful Day. You’ll enjoy, “White Bird.”
I mentioned them here earlier. Some of King Crimson, The Velvet Underground, Electric Light Orchestra, Seatrain, Amon Düül II, Curved Air, Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, High Tide, Cockney Rebel, Family, The United States of America, Gentle Giant, Blind Faith, Hot Tuna, Roxy Music, Flying Burrito Brothers, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Fairport Convention, Caravan, Van Der Graaf Generator, The Incredible String Band, and Hawkwind's music has some good violin work as well.
@@DMTsmoke Looks like you’ve got this electric-violin-thing, covered! That’s a pretty eclectic list you’ve got going there. The only reason I can remember David La Flame’s name is, back in the 80’s, I stood in line at a bar and they wanted a $2.50 cover charge to hear some guy playing an electric violin. I was pissed; I paid; and I was pleasantly surprised! I never knocked the violin again…or Jethro Tull’s flute!
Crazy talented band. Huge in the 90sbon college circuit
Frat parties all over Virginia!
Oh yeah, you definitely need to go to their concert. Go Warriors. Go Niners. 😊
Before Dave Matthews there was a band in Richmond called "Secrets" and some of them, moved to Dave Matthews in Charlottesville, most notably, the drummer. Here is one of their best songs - Secrets - After Hours - czcams.com/video/qguOPhYBI_U/video.html
Check out the bass player Keith Horne on that one.
Wife here . Love DMB the violin and drummer kill this ! I got into them much later in the game . I’m old ha. I finally got to see live few summers ago and it was such a fail concert . No violinist ( he had legal problems) didn’t replace Boyd for this show . I love like 12-20 songs they did two good ones. I’ve been to so many concerts in My day and I thought they’d be one of the best . Not sure if bad tour or what but they sucked that night! I’m still mad . Still listen at home though. Listen to Stay, Grace is Gone, Crash into me, What would you say , Grey Street, lots of awesome musicianship loved this band. They should stop doing my man Neil Young though can’t be touched! Enjoyed watching your faces during this one . Carter and Boyd and Dave rock the hell out of this song .
That violin riff is exactly the same as the one from Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" from 1986's "Graceland" album.
