Played this at my wife's funeral. She was 37 when she passed. This was one of our favorite
This brings tears to my eyes. A love of mine wanted this played at his funeral. I had to tell the family because I was the only person he told. And they played it as he wished.
We used it for my Mama’s celebration of life, as well ❤️😇
Having it at mine, too 🥰 Very sorry for your loss!
I want it played at my funeral too.
It's definitely on my list!!
I want it played at mine as well. The first time I heard it, I was going thru a breakup. That was 28 years ago. I still cry when I hear it, but for deeper reasons. This is such a moving song. The best!♥️♥️
His music always seems to create a 75 Degree day , near a rushing Mountain Stream , with the filtered Sunlight casting glistening beams on the cascading water , gentlemen .
More , please and thank you .
We played this song at my brothers funeral. He was 41 and passed from cancer. I never new he liked this song but he told our older brother to play it at his funeral when he new he wasn’t going to survive chemo
The Van Morrison rabbit hole is deep.
Amen to that!!
This is one melodic groove. Van the man takes you along with him as you sail into the mystic! Man what a song!
That sublime acoustic guitar that accompanies the singing can be found in many Van Morrison songs. It came as a pleasant surprise to learn it’s Van himself playing the guitar.
Van the Man back in the day!!! Just awesome!
This is my favorite Van Morrison song! Thanks guys!
There’s something extra special about this song. Magical really.
For my money, one of the greatest songs of all time.
I was taken to a Van Morrison concert over 30 years ago in Canada. I did not know any of his music but left the show, saying to my friend ... " That is one of the best shows I have ever been too ! Thanks. "
As a fellow Canadian, I was wondering if you have heard Colin James' great homage to this classic?
@@michellefranco5648 no michelle but I love Colin James ... I will have to check it out.
It's great when you experience an artist live, that you know nothing about, and you leave with that thought in mind.
I once took someone who had never heard of him, to see John Prine, and they had that same experience
Simply put, Beautiful!
Van Morrison's voice is genius and he uses it to take this song to another level!! The song itself is about life and sailing into the unknown that comes after. Everything in the lyrics has a double meaning "And the bonny boat was won/one" "and when that foghorn whistle blows, I want to hear it, I don't have to fear it!" This song was his masterpiece!!
This cat has a library full of songs for rainy Sunday afternoons with the house windows open.
Irish artist still touring at 77. He has a number of hits like this of which are truly legendary.
NORTHERN Irish artist.
@@Reno_SlimNorth west…
He has an album that gets overlooked by a lot of folks. It's called Too Long in Exile. Along with the Tupelo Honey album, it's one of my favorites.
@@Reno_Slim "I'm definitely Irish ... I don't think I want to go back to Belfast. I don't miss it with all the prejudice around. We're all the same and I think it's terrible what's happening.” - Van Morrison 1972.
Must be awful when the actual person you’re correcting someone about makes you look like a prat.
Put Van Morrison in a vocal lineup and you could pick him out every time. Such a unique tone that’s consuming and beautiful. He’s Rembrandt with a microphone. What a gifted talent!❤
I want this song at my funeral. This is my spirit flowing
The whole Moondance album is a joyous treat.
Not as good as Astral Weeks or Veedon Fleece though ;)
@@robbiemontgomery581 Van's albums from that period are all very strong and of a very high standard , so picking a favourite is very subjective. St Dominics preview is right up there for me.
Agreed!
Van Morrison has a catalogue. Keep going please.
One of those songs that still give me chills.
Van has many great songs - "Brown-eyed Girl," "Domino", "Moondancey", Jackie Wilson Said", "Here Comes the Night", "Wild Night", so many others!
And don't Forget "Gloria!"
Thanks guys
And don't forget TUPLEO HONEY
Jackie Wilson Says is so so good!!!
Cleaning windows, And it stoned me
Sweet Thing
Wavelength...❤
Van the Man, always a fav to listen to
effing goosebumps. seriously, this guy, geezus.
A beautiful song about accepting our inevitable fate!
All Van Morrison's songs are celebrations of life. Beautiful.
La and Che. I hope you give others the joy that you give to me in your reactions to great music. Van is a fantastic singer. Thier is an extensive catalog of his to delve into. Can not wait for to react to Tupelo Honey. As always fellas great reaction!! Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Agree 1000%
Tupelo Honey is my favorite Van Morrison song, but I love them all. I do suggest researching what Tupelo Honey is about to fully appreciate it.
This was the first dance song at my wedding (12yrs strong!) 🎉
Nice. Mine was “Moondance.”
Love this song!
Van Morrison's music is not easily defined. He's equally adapted to soul, blues, folk, rockabilly, adult contemporary, jazz, pop rock, and all points in between. Van's catalog of music is deep and varied, there's something for all music tastes. You won't be disappointed if you jump into this rabbithole.
One of the best ever by one of the best ever. We had it as our wedding song.
One of my favourite artists and song
YES !!!
And, strings - low strings, like a cello -
to simulate a foghorn. I always wondered whether there was some horn mixed in - a trombone or a bari sax, maybe even a tuba - but really i don't think so. I think he achieved his purpose with just those low strings. Really clever, though.
I was in Seal Beach, one day, on the beach, looking for a girl i'd met - thickest fog i've ever seen. 'Literally could not see my hand in front of my face. And i remember the foghorn blowing. I never found her again. Her name was Sean.
But i love this song, and it always makes me think of that experience.
Beautiful Song !! Van The Man !!!!!!
absolutely ♥ this song!
Such an emotional, amazing song
Excellent choice! Time for a deep dive. Don't miss out on the album Astral Weeks - it's filled with delights. The track "Sweet Thing" just takes me to another world.
Second that!
"When that foghorn blows" is a bass sax if memory serves. It's a beast.
Wikipedia says it's Morrison on his tenor sax which gives it that distinctive sound.
I'm with La - sounds like strings to me. Interesting that it's some flavor of sax.
Sounds like the bow slowly drawn across the strings of a cello
Hammond B-3. When Van The Man played at SUNY Stony Brook early 70’s a Hammond B-3 was on stage and that airy sound was duplicated exactly.
It’s cellos.
Such soul in his voice! Irish soul and Van is THE MAN!
Van the man makes beautiful music. good on you guys.
Just a beautiful song.
I am not surprised that the comments are all loving Van Morrison. I can see why he appeals to so many. He always had top-flight musicians playing with him. And, his voice is very good. I have tried and tried over the years, but . . . his music just bores me to tears.
My favorite Van Morrison song!!
this one is my favorite, but I also love... Tupelo honey, moondance and brown eyed girl. I just love his voice
Van the Man!
That's the brilliance of Van! You're supposed to imagine the foghorn guys... it makes you part of the song in a personal way 👋😎👍
Saw Van at Stony Brook University when this album was released they used a Hammond B-3 Organ / Lesley Tone Cabinet to identically nail that “ foghorn” sound live . Not a horn or cello !
The album this song is on, Moondance, is one of my favs of all time. So smooth. I got to see him once at Memphis in May in 96. My mom and her girlfriends went also. I was bragging to her that I was 20 feet away from the stage. She said, "Hell, i got to meet him". He is notoriously a private individual. They were staying at the Peabody where Van was (he rented out an entire floor) The day he was checking out, they went to go find him. He was walking down the hall and they tried to speak with him and he ignored them. They would not take no for an answer, chased him down, and got his autograph on his new book her friend had bought. Always tryin to out do me Mom! Love you!
When I was a young, dating thing, seeing this CD at a guy's place made me know they were the right kind of dude.
Van is a world treasure. Love to have you hit more of his: Jackie Wilson Says, St. Dominics Preview, Moondance, Have I Told You Lately, Domino, Wild Night, Cleaning Windows, Crazy Love, Caravan. That can get you started. More Van please!
I think the foghorn was a cello or stand-up bass played with a bow, not a horn. You can hear vibrato in the strings
Counter assumption (cause I don't really know) I thought the "fog horn" was playing the deepest bass notes on a Hammond b-3 ( the guys usually refer to it as the church organ) . My $.02 .
The only thing about the foghorn sound is that no musician on the song is credited with playing a cello, stand-up bass, organ or vibraphone. So that leaves us with sax.
Great Sunday morning music❤️
Always amazed me that such a grumpy guy could produce such joyous music. Such a strange juxtaposition.
Beautiful melody, emotive lyrics and sublime performance.
Incredible musician with a salted butter voice.
yes, Van Morrison good stuff! The Belfast Cowboy!
Man, I'm loving your choices of classics to react to from that golden age of music. So many great songs and artists and you guys are jumping around to lots of different styles. Really fun. Gonna have to get on the Patreon and make some recs! Happy Sunday fellas.
If you hear the foghorn, 1. you're in the fog and can't see where you're going and, 2. You're approaching land/rocks! You're in danger. Nowadays, we have radar but in the olden days it was guesswork.
Typical greatness from one of the best Irish balladeers…😊just want to thank you both for such insightful reactions..i know others feel the same…i have also noticed your reactions have increased markedly….you both are appreciated.:…Louie
This song is UNIVERSAL.
The legend that is Van Morrison, never made a bad song.
My favorite artist and this is one of his best songs.
This is a contender for my favorite Van Morrison song ever, but Brown Eyed Girl and It Stoned Me both just beat it out and put it in my 3rd place. Great song, Van is such a great vocalist!
IMO this is a far better song. :)
Van is amazing so glad you got to hear and liked him because there's so many great songs by him
Some faster ones are Bright side of the road , Moondance and Jackie Wilson says
And really good slow ones are Tupelo honey and brand new day
Enjoying the reactions!!!
The foghorn sounds like a B3 organ with a rotating leslie speaker to me fellows!
you guys are the best bobble heads EVER! Love it!
I literally tear up every time I hear this beauty.
Now you’ve stumbled into a rabbit hole that will do your soul good 😎😎
thank you for another beautiful piece of music.
This is one of my after work Outside on the deck as the sun comes down.with a drink in hand. great song
Someone Like You and Brown Eyed Girl are my favs of VM....great artist and music!❤
🍀🥃🥃Now y'all done it 😂 ... Van Morrison makes the day complete ☺️✌️
Love Van the Man! Another great artist in “The Last Waltz “. You guys really need to watch that. The Band is amazing and so are the musical guests. We were so spoiled by the music created during our youth/teens. So diverse, so magical!
This song is definitely on my playlist. 🎵🎶
Bass lake. On my boat with fireworks flying from the middle of the lake and van Morrison blaring from the stereo. Thanks for the memories.
Beautiful song by Van Morrison. Whole album is great.
It’s an organ doing the foghorn. Listen to “ here comes the night, brown eyed girl, Tupelo honey, wavelength “ to name a few
Correct, so many ask that question....nice to know more than me just know
You guys! All great the music here... Love your work🥰
❤fav Van Morrison song ❤
Thanks guys. This man drips class. Well done
Van used the last line of the song "It's Too Late to Stop Now" as the name of his 1974 live album recorded during the 1973 tour with his eleven-piece band, the Caledonia Soul Orchestra. In 2016 Van released a box set with recordings of multiple shows from the tour which gives an appreciation for how they performed the songs differently on different nights.
Perfect song. Fun to watch you guys groove on Van’s special magic.
This is classic Van Morrison. You have impressive taste. ❤
Always get the chills 💗
Excellent choice. Please explore more
Love this song! Thanks for checking it out
My generation's music being discovered😍😍

His voice is perfect.
Van the man!. Great song for a Sunday morning. One of a kind
That was a standup bass using a bow
Yes, my first thought was cello but, yeah you’re right
My Favorite Van Morrison song .
Ahhh Mr Morrison.
Just glorious!
Lord luvs ducks!
Wait till you hear my fav... Moondance, Brown eyed girl, ohhhh Tupelo Honey, Domino.
To name a few. This was another in our list, for all age guests!
Just warms your heart, cheers.
"Into the Mystic" is from Van Morrison's 1970 album, Moondance, an album that ranks high among the very best of the 20th century -- "And It Stoned Me", "Moondance", "Crazy Love", "Caravan", "Into the Mystic", "Come Running", "These Dreams of You", "Brand New Day", "Everyone", "Glad Tidings" -- Morrison swings in some way on every song, like drifting down a lazy river on a warm sunny day, a hot bowl of soup at home after months at sea, a couple dancing in the moonlight. Every track on that album is worth a reaction.
Completely agree
You two are great to watch because you know music and appreciate music and production of all genres. You're having fun. BTW, the fog horn are strings.
Love van Love you guys great content
Van The Man! This is such a Cool vibe. I always thought that was a Foghorn too. The bass line slays me throughout.
A true legendary music icon,, Van (The Man) Morrison "Moondance",, "Domino" & "Tupelo Honey"
Van started out in Northern Ireland and was in a Rock band named Them. Later he became very famous for his music and he settled down in Marin County outside of San Francisco
Best Morrison song ever ❤
Van Morrison - Moondance, if you haven't heard it. It is one of his hits and a very cool song.
Great song!!!
Me and Van share the same birthday.
Nice reaction!
Thank you for reacting to Van!
