Akrapovic Exhaust for the BMW M2!

- Before setting off on Fuel Faction ENA we stop by the home of Akrapovič to both install a full exhaust system to the BMW M2 as well as taking a complete look around both facilities that make up the factory.
With rare access to look around it's a special opportunity to see what goes in to making one of the world's finest exhaust systems, as well as experiencing a before and after of the sound that comes from the stock and then new system. Installed on the M2 is a downpipe, full titanium evolution exhaust, carbon tips and gloss carbon rear diffuser.

Why is everybody complaining about the M2 being an automatic?! I mean if Marc wants the car as an auto it's okay, maybe he does a lot of city driving or sits in many traffic jams, so it's more practical... And how cares he has a M2!! :D the car is awesome, doesn't matter if DCT or Manual, it's his car!
this is my biggest dream, to have an m2 with this system and just drive around with no work or stress to worry about
Akrapovic exhausts are pure pieces of art. I have one on my Renaultsport Megane and it´s just awesome, love hearing it everytime I get in it and appreciate the fine notes it puts out :)

Awesome insight into an awesome company. I learned of Akrapovic when I started a new job back in 2003 and the guys there were heavily into their supermotard's. The sound of one of their KTM 540's with the Akro system just blew my mind. The look and finish of them is superb.

Shemee has just sold me an after market exhaust... damn it!! I'm skint enough anyway! Personally with the longbeach blue I would go for the titanium tips so they go blue/purple & work nicely with the cars colour :P

He went for an automatic because he isn't an idiot who thinks manuals are the only way to go or else it makes the car trash. The man clearly wants to drive and take it to everywhere he goes instead of having it as a side car that you could enjoy on open clear roads. Maybe he lives and travels to places with traffic people need to stop being so judgemental. Most of the people I hear cry about automatics have never actually driven a good car not saying someone wouldn't prefer it.
If it's your only car and you take it everywhere it's much better to have pedals to enjoy on open roads and have slightly less engagement than a stick shift car than constantly get tired in tragic day on and day out.
My daily is a 6 speed I take it every where love it in traffic, on open roads, and on the back roads when i'm coming home from work. Manuals aren't a hassle to drive. I'm not bashing this guy for buying an automatic but just thought i'd throw it out there that it is not a hassle to drive a 6 speed everyday at all.
DailyDabber It isn't absolutely! I drive a manual myself. It's simply that people are bashing that poor guy who clearly loves driving his car loads instead of having it sit in a garage.
At max I can hold out 1.5 hours with a manual but past that I get annoyed and start getting less and less attentive to the road in general as it gets very tiresome day in and day out after an already tiresome day.. Currently I have to go for more than 1.5 hours in traffic a lot of the times so I'm going with a an auto very soon. Sure it's fun on open roads but took a TD of an automatic and it's a bliss in traffic. Decision was made right away
People aren't thinking about the fact that maybe he wants convenience as well as fun because he maybe just maybe has to arrive fresh at his job... Are manuals more intuitive and fun than pedals? Sure. Does having pedals on a car rob it off it's fun factor? Absolutely Not.
That was my entire point btw. I still agree with you normal traffic is very easy still in a manual but so many are quick to think his decision was bad!
Pho DF Well said mate, also a lot of people don't realize how fast automatics shift today. This M2 has a 7-speed dual clutch and I guarantee it shifts 3-4x times as fast as the manual if not faster. In terms of performance and numbers on the track the automatic dual clutch is the only way to go. For myself though I just love the sensation of shifting honestly.
I just took delivery of a 2017 M2 with 6 speed manual and executive package on Wednesday, and I couldn't care less that the 7 speed M-DCT is fractions of a second quicker to 60 or in the 1/4 mile or around whatever track. 99% of the driving that I do is on the road, and the car is already so far beyond what anyone really needs on the road. I just go for pure driving satisfaction and for me that includes something for my left foot to do along with my right arm. I've just always driven manual transmissions and I'm just so used to it that its instinctual by now. Also with the new things they are adding to cars like hill hold assist so you never have to worry about rolling backwards when starting on any hill, and even with the M2 something added over my M235i which I traded in on it, they added auto rev matching where it blips the throttle perfectly every time whenever you downshift even if its from 3rd to 2nd at slow speed or say 6th to 2nd during quick deceleration. I wasn't too sure I'd like it since it was taking away another bit of the manual transmission experience, but within 5 miles of driving it I felt it just worked perfectly. So with things like that driving a manual in traffic really isn't much of a bother at all.
Not to mention the M2 is just an epic car, its everything I wanted it to be and more. I can't wait to get my 1,200 miles on it so I can get my run in service done and then really get on it and feel the full potential of the car. Right now its off getting some paint protection film so you can just imagine what the wait is like for me for my new baby to finally be back in my hands and be able to be driven like its supposed to be done.
I know that dual clutch transmissions can be amazing. I've done a few track days with Porsche with 997.2 PDK equipped cars and its just amazing on the track. Even in fully automatic mode its like its telepathic and knows exactly the right gear to be in. If I was buying a car that was going to be tracked often, I would definitely get the dual clutch, but because its almost exclusively for the street, I'll stick to the manual for my own enjoyment.

wow fantastic video, an excellent insight into the workings inside akropovic, definitely a great ad for them. all through the video I was like I want this exhaust for my m2 and then I heard it and stock just seemed to sound better but reserve judgement until i hear it in the flesh. great video, be interesting to know how much the system cost as I don't think any prices are available.

If you don't get why there is so much hate on auto gearboxes, try and look up for the terms "heel and toe, double clutching, rev matching".

It is called the Awron display, and it is only for BMW cars. It is an all-in-one display unit that presents a wide array of real time data from the car. You use it by going through different menus and pages providing performance data, engine information and a lot more. Does the rear box even serves a purpose? It seems only two of the four pipes goes into it and the two outer pipes pretty much goes straight through, unless they have an electronic valve.
