A suggestion for when you get your elevators shot off: set flaps to about 10 degrees (aka combat) roll 45 degrees, and say you roll on your right, input left rudder to gain altitude. The amount of throttle you have will affect your pitch, having your gear down will too.
these are actually very basic moves, but very important. Sometimes you just need to be creative. Put some maneuvers together and get to keep the energy. Eventhough sometimes you won't kill your enemy, but you can stay alive... I actually learned maneuvers when I first played this game. I was playing the Ju87... And I didn't know anything about maneuvers, I stuck in a dogfight, and I just tried everything I can to stay alive.. By the time I started to play Japanese, the maneuvers are coming really handy.. I didn't kill a lot of people...Because I never got the chance to partice...
what are the more advanced moves do you know?
Woah! I never thought of the hammerhead stall, it's a sick maneuver!! Great video
I didn't even know the "High Yo-Yo" was thing, I just did it because it was the only thing to do to stop from overshooting a target...
Too bad I usually don't have enough time to practice these kind of maneuvers, because I always have 4+ enemies chasing me...
If you have 4 enemies chasing you, you have made yourself a too nice target. For example being the only one high up or at the outside of the battle.
pauka13 If you have a wingman you just made yourself bait for him to take 4 kills. Also, that usually only happens in arcade.
use your energy to hight tail the hell out of there.
i feel you, playing an american plane with 5+ plane on my tail isn't very fun as american planes generally aren't that manoeuvrable.
I know this comment its from 5 years ago, but if you have the same problem, its completely on you, you are setting yourself as an easy target
Very good video. Much appreciated. I have finally decided to go all in on the Realistic Videos & needed to know a few of those maneuvers a little better. Thanks again. Subscribed!
This dude.....
Deserves the title of Ace in my opinion
The damn dude could still keep his head cool and utilizes his maneuvers with pure excellency even under fire from an enemy
And his ability to beat a YAK in a turn fight, while he is piloting a lugging F4F Wildcat is beyond me
+Danish Farrell well there are 3 types of aces. and this one definitely knows how to read the tides of battle
+Danish Farrell This is in arcade mode, physics are extremely dumbed down.
+TheBawbSaget The scene that he is talking about was performed in realistic
Crouching, I know something better than all of your great maneuvers. THE ONE FROM RED TAILS WHERE HE LEARNED SOMETHING NEW!
IM GONNA SHOW THEM A LITTLE TRICK I LEARNED PEW PEW PEW
Prototype Ultra I'm gonna show you a little trick on how to deny that physics exist
Great video man, thanks so much for these tips! They sure as hell do work
Very informational. The experience is greatly appreciated.
Well done, very informative yet concise.
one of few awesome, useful combat maneuver vides, nice work
nice video man, you explain things well and the video is easy to understand.
Thanks very much! I remember learning many of these by watching the TV show dogfights on the History channel as young kid ( watching it back on Netflix helped me get the edge in aerial combat in battlefield 3), i just got into War Thunder, and was trying to find the show everywhere, but instead i found your CZcams channel! Consider me subscribed!
Vlad The Installer All of the episodes are uploaded to CZcams… I've been watching them. Then I started seeing gameplay for this and am considering trying out this game.
thanks for posting...this has helped me a lot...not only with war thunder but with world of warplanes also.
Nice and very helpful video, CW.
I enjoy and i learn something, great vid man!.
Dude, when I first performed a hammerhead with an He 112 V-5 and succesfully shot down the stalled opponent... Looked sick, and it was the first step to falling in love with WT's arieal combat
This is great! The barrel roll is actually the first maneuver I learned by myself. The rest comes in very useful!
Really nice video and pretty helpful!!
good video, I use some if these moves already and didn't know it or how to properly pull them off in combat. keep it up
Took me 2minutes to remember what the music in the video is from... Ace Combat Assault Horizon, haha
Just another tip: Sometimes when I'm engaging an enemy that turns better than me, I like to "fake" a head on. I begin firing around 1 km out, and preform an aileron roll, which (in RB) will drop your aircraft by about 10-30 meters, depending on the plane. If the situation is good, you can also preform a split S and get on the enemy's tail from there.
Good luck!
Very nice, thanks for uploading.
finally a clear maneuvers tutorial
nice video
Keep up the good work!!
This is great thanks mate!
thank you very nice video, good we got people like you on youtube
Good video, I'd add that the hammerhead is probably best used in situations roughly similar to that of a high yo yo or when someone's on your tail, and you know you have the energy advantage and they will not be able to pursue the climb. If they've been pursuing you and you already have an altitude/potential energy advantage, and know you will beat them in the dive, but they don't and are baited into the climbing chase, you watch them while you're in that climb you'll see their nose start to turn down as their plane stalls or near-stalls. From there you can rudder over (hammerhead) and pick them off while they're in a vulnerable, low energy state. The risk is of course that there may be a brief moment where they have a good firing solution on you in the chase, before they have to nose down when they stall or to avoid stalling. Again, nice video, thanks for sharing, just thought I'd share my opinion on the hammerhead maneuver as it applies to this game.
Fantasic video !! I was looking for such thing !!! Thank you you were really helpfull!!!!
Good video, I enjoyed it.
Very helpful and easy to understand and follow.
Thanks buddy.
I employ barrel rolls constantly, to great profit. It is my second favorite manuver. I don't know what the name of my actual favorite is but I know it's an official manuver and it's reminiscent of a hammerhead, minus the long climb - When flying level, cut the engine, pitch up hard and slam on the rudder, and your plane will sorta twist and stall almost instantly - 300 mph to 95 in half a second. Your enemy will obviously overshoot by a lot. The stall is quite easy to pull out of as the manuver naturally points your nose down and if you pull out of the stall right it will put you into prime firing position. It's quite handy if you're being pursued at short range and it just confuses the hell out of whoever was chasing you.
Well done. Good show.
Really great advices. Thanks
This is great, thanks.
Great video, helps a lot, thanks
Awesome video thx for the tips
Nice video! Cool intro, too.
Nice. I need to practice these.
thank you very much for the vid i recently started using more fighers because of this and ease up on the H bmbrs
A proper hammerhead is pitching up at 90 degrees, cutting the throttle, waiting for the stall then flicking with rudder left or right and as it spins on the spot apply full power. this means you're not climbing for as long and it's harder for a chasing aircraft to shoot you down
Hammer head works great in BnZ planes like US Corsairs, if you can get something like a spitfire to climb with you, once they start to stall out and you see contrails come from their wings, hammerhead over and you can pretty blast through them as they stall in a flat spin, always kills them.
Dat arcade FM! Nice vid Walrus :D
Very nice.
great video i realised that i was using those maneuveurs automaticallys but inev er knew they would have got a special name but they truley are the gamechangers :D
Great video! This video was really helpful because I always get owned in HB without good maneuvers. Lol
I love Ace Combat!
I do a lot of these, but i also do a close ground maneuvers. Very risky maneuvers that either get you killed, out maneuvers the enemy, or as a ditch effort. One time I flew between a small gap to get away (it was a tree and a mountain side) and the enemy pulled out from tailing me. Then I started to tailed him instead.
you deserver more subs. way more
Damn, I’ll use this tomorrow.
Very usefull! Thanks a lot!
very nicely edited video! straightforward and clearly explained! Well Done! what do you use to record your plays besides the built-in replay recorder?
Good video. Gives me a few ideas for RB :)
That one time in war thunder when you and your enemy keep doing every maneuver in the book to kill each other.
And then another comes in and shoots you down .
nice outtro music :)
I naturally learned some of these but nice video
Thanks Milo.
so useful thanks
Adrian is also an awesome composer.
Yes he is.
this should have more views come on people
These videos are beginning to help. I got my first Two Kill battle in RB today :) In my exactly 50th fight.
Won't be long before you get your first ace in a day!
Hits are common. But kills remain elusive...
Then again I've been flying the Pasta Fighters a lot lately and their guns are a bit... lacking.
I do the barrel roll brake all the time, you don't use your mouse, you hit the elevator and aileron key and do it,or stick back and right/left(metaphoricall stick)
Nice Video, quite helpfull to see this Maneuvers in an Diffrent view... some i allready use very often some are really hard. Btw. i use for Hammerhead (if some one try to follow you) landing flaps so he who is on my 6 is than on my 12 ^^
Quite hard some moves in Sim.
Nice up. Thanx :D
I think barrel roll attack works better in FRB mode where you are forced inside cockpit view and with realistic physics. In FRB the breaking bandit must still visually acquire attacker from inside the cockpit.
Barrel roller attacker is comfortably climbing and rolling, so it should be easier to look at the bandit. In real life when you break turn at full 9 Gs, your vision goes black from the outer edge of vision, so it's not easy to see what the attacker does. So, real life, BRA manouver should be better than external view historical battles or arcade battles.
In real life you need to look at the bandit all the time, even when barrel rolling! Then you have to adjust your turn and roll (inside the barrel roll) based on bandit's manouver.
At the end of the barrel roll attack manouver, the attacker should be able to get into lag pursuit or somewhere close to that. Or you could follow up the barrel roll attack with a low yo-yo.
If your plane is really bad at rolling, at high speeds, then you should NOT use barrel roll attack. Because this manouver requires you to roll at healthy rate, at high speeds.
I'm going to try these out with my joystick. Might give me the edge over those mousers
Crazy shit son! I approve this video.
when i try to get someone who is behind me to the front of me so i can fire at them, i usually use a tactic called "dumping speed" which is basically greatly decreasing speed till the enemy pass you up, then you increase speed. Though it is dangerous because the enemy could slow down as well and stay behind you, but that never really happens often :P
Yeah, it's called forcing an overshoot. But as you said, if the guy on your tail is good, he'll stay on your six regardless. Whether that be through bleeding energy of his own, or using some energy conservative ACM.
Thanks for some of these tactics will come in handy. Walrus oh and hello from 7 years in the future.
nice
The last move (hammerhead) is a high risk move, just imagine if your enemy have stronger engine power than your AC,he should be able to get you while you are in the verge of stalling makes you an easy target to shoot. I've tried it before with my Fw-190 A-5 against a USSR Yak. Also, I've killed some people doing that maneuver with my Bf-109. But,for the other moves I really like it.
War thunder terrain and water looked more photorealistic back then. Idk how the devs messed it all up.
good help thanks
It's a pity you dropped off the radar so long ago. These videos are great.
i new this when i was a beginner but thanks nice video
i was gonna as which dogfighter is the best
This girl told me she likes the scissor maneuver.....i never tried it but when I did I was amazed at how good I kept the enemy away from me.😀
i learned all of these naturally. To me the hammerhead is the only maneuver that can come in handy in every plane(if a spit or that kind of a plane on your six(high turn rate, low engine power), just do this maneuver and hope that he doesn't kill u while ur climbing.)
What to do when i am in a hunter and a cl13 comes diving behind me at a faster speed. I cant fly in a straight line or i get shot, i cant turn or i lose energy and the cl13 outturns me...
how do you barrell roll while using the mouse because everytime i try to do tricks i cant do two at the same time my mouse stays fixed while i barrell roll
Thank you so much, Im still new but learning quickly, I use USN planes and i'm able to climb faster than most the team even when taking off last. But still I always seem to find a bogie just a bit higher up than me and it turns into a long chase to the ground as i'm not able to shake him off with out giving up more energy than him. It's been more than frustrating coming into a game with seasoned aces in ever match. I'm currently using the cobra, the middle variation with an extra gun. Do you think that ship should be replaced asap? If not do you think I should use the final variation (p39Q-5?) My preferred atm is (p39N-0) Thanks!
I'll have to try these in my He 51 and my He 112
+Blood Raven these planes have crap elevators..T
Hellcat you men Wildcat for sure!
ok, good video, but was that ACE COMBAT MUSIC YOU USED FOR THE INTRO
Could you try do a "flick stall" ?
6:00 this is literally just my go-to manoover lmao
6:45 oh I usually just do it by looping lol
you only really need to use a hammerhead if your attempting to stall out an enemy on your 6, he stalls, you stall, hammerhead and now your on his 6, and just clean him up
Cool vid man, but some of the manuver is way harder to perform in HB :)
What you refer to as a Barrel roll attack is called a Lag Displacement Roll or Displacement Roll. I actually use this one a lot along with the High Yo-Yo. Hammerhead is new to me. Where did you find that one? Nice vid, thanks.
can you show me how to stop finding dirt in the cockpit.. very good video and simple
Stop looking for dirt in the cockpit
And thanks!
That barrel roll maneuver is actually called a split s
During the flat scissors u almost went in front of him so he could have taken a snapshot to your cockpit
very good! very interesting. but in these situation it's ususally 1 v 1 . what if there are more of them?
I used to play on computer and could do the climb and ruder thing but my pc doesn't work very well anymore so I use ps4 and the controls are so different and it doesn't use rudders so I carnt do the climb know
You didn't show any defensive maneuvers such as the barrel roll and Pugachev's Cobra (I know that only very few jets can perform it but I'm talking about a similar maneuver that I don't know what it's called.
How do i make that red tails manouever?
this is pretty usefull still thanks
I'm new to WT(this is my 2nd weekend), and silly me I've tiered up to IV (with british planes). As is expected, my best showing is 6th... enough prefacing.
Now, a good 60% of the time, i get shot down by "pilot is knocked out). Is there a maneuver that allows you to see the pilot to... knock him out. I'm using mouse and keyboard.
improve your crew points un pilot vitality it will decrease chance of pilot getting sniped
How the hell can u move the plane while looking around? I normally press C but i cant move the plane while doing it
These maneuvers seem to deal with the issue of being so fast that you're about to pass an enemy. Do you have any advice for when your plane is slower than them even after coming out of a dive?
WALRUS POWER!!!! WAHAHWHA VIKING!
