#1 to DO list : fly with a teammate (with voice) and coordinate attack runs, passes on other planes and alternate, Alpha shoots as Bravo moves onto saddle position, then as Bravo engages Alpha regains altitude or prepares to shoot on a 45º deflection for better aim on the cockpit, engine and fuel tank :D Hope i helped
First game ever where I rage at the controls and not the actual game content. Getting one shot killed alot too, seems legit.
The rare very effective tactic what i call the red tails manouver, can be done only with a a6m zeros. Or any other manouverable plane like those, is that u have to pull down a bit then use 2 buttons, yawnleft and pitchdown both pressed at the same time when you are being chased it will get you right behind your enemy in 3 -4 seconds

Getting closer to your enemy before opening fire is probably one of the biggest fails I see especially in arcade and one I suffered from when I first started playing.
A tip for head-ons snap rooll to avoid enemy gunfire. Basically press any aileron (only one) and the press the elevator key. This makes it hard for the enemy to hit while simultaneously putting ur plane below ur enemy's which can either let u run away or get u a slight energy advantage.
one good trick ive taught my friends even though they started playing before i did, if you push F for your flaps you actually can turn faster. which leads into you getting behind the enemy and taking him out before he can turn around

1/2 Some corrections. They aren't "assault", but "attack", or "ground attack" planes. Historically, they were used primarily for close-range support of ground troups, so their main purpose is to engage ground units, e.g. IL-2. You could a more artificial distinction, seeing as it isn't represented wholly in the game, which is to include "heavy fighter" as a class. That would include the Pe-2, the Beaufighter, A-20G, Havoc, Hs. 129 etc.
109s are excellent planes. I only have experience with them in historical battles, but for the most part they are great climbers, good divers, decent turners, and just very agile overall.
Pro tip: press Q, W, & E at the same time. Other ways to do similar trick is pressing E, W, & A; A, S, & E; D, S, & Q. Works best on smaller aircraft, but might work on medium ones too! Works GREAT on P-39.

If you're playing arcade, some planes to look forward to for America are the Airacobras at tier 7, but for Russia, you might want to give those new LA-5s a try, and get the yak-9t once you get to tier 8. If you're playing historical, the P-40 kittyhawk is the first American plane that I think truly accelerates in that game mode. And for Russia, yeah, their planes and players aren't really that good for historical...I might do a video on this if you want me to go more in-depth with every nation.
I just learned a trick! When someones on you, just aim up and do a loop-de-loop and you will catch the person by surprise!

If you have bombs on your wings drop them when engaging because it makes you fly faster
If any of you guys want a well armed plane in a low tier with a good turn time check out the p-400 pr the aircobra they are tier 2 American planes and I highly recommend them

What video editor did you use on this. Mainly the ending where the sides were kinda blackend, the screen was bright in the middle and was slow motion. Looked great.

2/2 Both those and the ground attack planes are generally more sluggish, but generally enjoy better armour. You could also have covered the use of terrain as an evasion tactic: it is good to distract the pursuers from you by zig-zagging among difficult terrain, as they will be more focused on not crashing.
P.S. Kudos on using the Soviet planes.

I think that the game labeled them as "assault" planes, so I just went with that. But what you're saying definitely makes more sense. However, I can site from experience that the IL-2 does NOT enjoy better armor. That thing is practically made out of paper.

I would actually like to see how you physically use the controls to do the maneuvers you are describing. For example when you do the scissor rolls, or barrel rolls.
They are, just been playing the russian tree at the moment and the main planes I fear are the 109s and FW190s

I use mouse and keyboard. I hear that it's difficult to aim with a joystick due to sensitivity issues, but I've never personally tried the joystick.

Has anyone tried playing a bomber with the turret guns and attacking ground units that way? I don't play bombers, but I do this sometimes in test flight.

Hey, I'm a newbie. I just started but learned quickly. If I start tracking my target, the tracking target camera starts up. How do I turn that off and go back to flying normally with the normal crosshairs?
I have ragged many times at this game. The one shot and i'm dead usually did it together with flying arcade battles with my Logitech extreme 3D joystick. Mouse is so much easier to get kills with. Bring on the Joystick only arcade matches!
Can you preform a pugachev cobra maneuver with these planes, or at least the jets?

There's a pretty small list of planes in the world that can actually perform that maneuver, and all of them are very modern jet fighters. Even the jets in this game are only Korean War era. In other words, I don't think so :-/
i must be the odd duck because i get a lot better when i am mad, i can double or even triple my average kills when i get mad.
i have when i was playing bf2 bad company i got 4 kills 9 deaths common and i raged next game i got 42 kills ranked up 2 got 13 badges and pins and 3 deaths it turned the tide of battle

Yeah, this video is mainly directed at new players....especially considering I was relatively new to the game as well at the time that I made it O.o
I've mad a few more videos since this one that are a bit more in-depth dealing with maneuvers and so-forth
2 reasons why i use mouse control
1.i dont have the right price to pay for
2. im cheap

Doesn't more guns are your plane mean more damage? like the FW190A4 it has like 6 guns on board compared to the Heinkle HE112 which has like 3. If those two planes were to do a head on, would the FW190A4 win?

some tricks/tips i use....
targets that are turning are easier to hit since they are vertical and you have a larger area to hit.
it is better to approach bombers from the sides and aim for the engines. if you can take out 1/2 of their engines they will start to slow down and fall. also its harder for gunners to hit you.

but bombers are better to kill from a dive towards them at about 60 degrees there u will have a better view of the engines and pilot when u pass the bomber climb back towards it while shooting it
willy rex correct. i always dive from above but try to angle it so my plane is hitting the closest engine to me, when i pull up my round will move along the length of the wing.

willy rex if you have any of the planes with cannons at level 1-2 it works so well. also check the ammo belt for your guns. AP-I to me is better than just AP since AP-I have a chance to set fire to the plane. the belt should read something like AP-T AP AP-I AP-I for example which is the sequence of which rounds in which order.

keep stock (A,D roll) (W,S throttle) (Q,E rudder) (Page up, Page down for lift can be swapped with W,S if your more into using the keyboard than the mouse) {tips that took me forever to find out: center mouse button selects target, so does the X key, ctrl key fires rockets, holding C allows for free camera view i.e. C + move mouse around} Hope this helps even though the post is over a year old haha.

also what is the best type of bullets you use? I noticed that you shot down alot of planes very fast, and the bullets I use take forever to shoot down my enemy
I'm guessing you're a beginner with mostly biplanes? If so, don't be discouraged. Your aircraft armament will eventually improve when you unlock higher ranked aircraft. I believe the nation with the earliest cannon-armed aircraft is the USSR, with aircraft like the early LaGG-3s and the Yak-1.
CrouchingWalrus sadly no..I LOVE planes, so I want to fly those, and I have grown attached to seeing all the dogfights and want to be just like those pilots, but to be honest, I SUCK! I am more of a bomber and attack aircraft kinda guy, but I want to give dogfighting a chance
Joshua Bayer Tip, for dogfights, get Japan or Britain first. The spitfire is very maneuvrable, as well as the Japanese a6m zero. That is very good in dogfights.

I been playing this game from the start it came out got all the planes from every country this game the shit and well worth the money if you wanna pay a few backs and its alot better than world of tanks but war thunder now has tank matches which aint that good it just came out i would recommend world of tanks in your into tank action

i realized u only use soviet planes, i know they are very agile and well armed, but most of those tricks to get people of your tail don't work with american planes and only with soviet or Japanese can u do a vide of these maneuvers with germans please?
I'm going to do a completely new series for maneuvers to perform during specific scenarios in Realistic Battles. Since I made this video, I've pretty much maxed almost all the nations, so I know that the ones I'm going to show work for pretty much all fighters. So just look out for that new series some time in the future.
if you want agile and well armed have a look at the tier three spitfires with a turn time of 17.9 seconds 2, 20mm cannons and 7.9 machine guns 2 of you have a great dog fighting plane
