    The reason the 67 is a one year is because they use a lot of the old parts from the 60-66 body style trucks as the nobs and door handles are just like my own 65 f-100

    A lot of the changes are due to the 1968 motor vehicle safety act. Like the reflector added to the hood badge and on the bed, door latch was changed due to needing to add the door lock knob on the door etc. Another fun fact is you may notice the glove box button has shaper edges. They made ford change that to a rounded button to be better if you smacked your forehead off it 🤣

    • @Project_Low_Expectations
      @Project_Low_Expectations Před 5 měsíci +2

      This is correct. Knobs had to be a little more recessed, heater had to be easier to work without looking as hard at it, side markers and reflectors, steering wheel changes, seats that flip forward had to have a positive locking device. Lots of changes in 68

    I love patina on old trick, but some old trucks deserve full restorations. If for no other reason to protect it. But also to show what a great looking truck ford use to make. I had a 72 4×4 . It was sky view blue but in excellent shape. I fixed what little rust it had, repainted it and drove it 5 years. I had people literally motioning for me to roll my windows down to tell me how much they loved the truth and ask questions. Sadly my brother totalled it and of course insurance screwed me over by claiming it was only worth $800 . Their all crooks!

    1973-94 bed pockets are meant to be washed out, it cleans alot of sand and cursed salt out of the inner parts of the bed. Tail lights, inner fender and front inner box, clean till clear. Don't forget the Tailgate! And relube tailgate mechanisms after a flush.

    Just did this to my 83 Capri I’ve had since 2007 and never washed once. Loved the patina as is but it was accepted into world of wheels show so I did a good buff and it was incredible how much it brought it to life. I’ll be doing my other junkyard rescue hand driven stick shift Capri here soon x

    I was riding around in those trucks when they were new. If you hold the handle up when you are closing the door it I believe it will stay locked. I can't remember if that works on the push button type. That is a dusty memory from long ago, but you can try it.

    I had a '68 F250 a long time ago. If I remember right you could hold in the button on the outside handle and it would lock the door instead of the lock button popping up. Was probably a 'safety feature' to prevent you from accidentally locking yourself out.

    • @john242ti
      @john242ti Před 5 měsíci +1

      I think a lot of vehicles in the late '60s-mid '70s were like that. My parents owned a 1974 Volvo wagon that you had to hold the door handle up to keep the lock button down while closing the door. Between 1978 and 1986, they got rid of that feature, so you could lock your keys in the car. In 1986, it was changed so you could only lock the driver's door when it was closed.

    Damn, I had to sell my 75 short box last year for family reasons. Got it for $200 from a guy that was gonna scrap it. Drove it home and kept driving it for 7-8 years. People just loved that truck, as did I, and several people gave me big parts that were just laying in their yards. Like a nice door, tail gate, etc… got $4000 for it when I sold it…but I woulda still kept it if I could have. Now I drive a Corolla with over 300,000 that’s been rolled once. Miss my truck.

    My dad had one of those way before my time. He rebuult the engine bored 60 over with crower cam 4 barrel carb, he wanted to get his hands on a 390 crank which im no engine builder but would have supposedly made that a 396 ford which would have made the ultimate tow rig, unfortunately he sold it to my uncle who chopped the truck in half and put the engine and transmission In his own truck. Apparently that truck ran really good. I know my uncle got several miles out of that engine using it for towing

    I have looked at my 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed truck and it has been a victim of door swaps and the front doors are red haphazardly blasted flat black with spray paint cans,, and therefore im pretty sure it would look like crap if I buffed it out so the paint would shine so it remains hazed and sunbaked roof and hood, the truck and trim are supposed to be factory black except for the laramie slt High polished aluminum 16 inch wheels which on this option trim truck was a brushed silver outer rim, and the detail section of the wheel was machined aluminum and highly polished but unfortunately it has started oxidizing and the clear coat was dirty so the previous owner plastic dipped the wheel center caps and lug nuts i hate how it looks... It's too much black on this truck, the bumpers were a satin gloss black the factory rear bumper is, the front is a junkyard replacement and was chrome haphazardly blasted when the front doors were with flat black spray paint, and the factory grille was black and it is now but it's a replacement that has no emblem on the center of the top where it goes... The factory one ate a bird had a bowling ball size hole in the grille so it got changed . Truck has factory gloss black paint with most of the white pinstripe since the front doors are from a different truck..
