I played Apex originally with a controller, because I'd just switched to PC and didn't know M&K. My memory was that the game was easier, and it took way less energy to do well. That said, I've had so much fun on M&K that I'd never switch back. I'm almost Diamond again this season, and wouldn't swap a higher rank for a significantly less fun experience.
That's the rub. M&K is literally a disadvantage. Those of us still using it do it because it's "more fun." People who want to actually compete know that controller is the logical choice. I started with controller, too. I play M&K because I simply hate playing FPS games on controllers. It's unnatural.

Playing shooters on controller is cursed in the first place. Its so bad every game just buffs it with an assist. 🤡 Controllers must be banned from ranked. Assisting in aim in competitive games is pure idioticy. Leave assist to single player games only.
Don't need to ban controllers, just disable the aim assist in (PC) ranked lobbies. If people want to use a controller without aim assist, more power to them. Console has its own ranked league and is a separate beast of course.
If you grow up with console, it not unnatural... also there are games without aim assist that are fun with out aim assist so it possible... example rainbow 6 does not have aim assist... they remove it due to being hard to hold angles with it... even with all of this... ya I don't think aim assist should exist in apex for pc... ruins competition
Best solution is that they remove controller from pc just like console doesnt support kbm input in apex the same should be for pc and controllers must be disallowed as an input in pc for apex
@@AlmostGood-ml8dc well there is so many controller players on pc bcz of other controller players, when all r on kbm, most of them will start switching back to kbm and some who cant digest this should just switch to console if they cant live without the controller they shouldn't be on pc. one of MNK's biggest strengths is its also its biggest weakness. Its using your arm especially if you do a lot of things before you play as you get more and more tired your aim will follow while on controller you could be falling a sleep after a hard day sitting upside down and still beam, obviously you play better well rested no matter the input but on controller the drop in accuracy is much less significant. played mnk 3k and controller about 1k and the only problem for me was movement but if your positioning is the best it can be you don't need movement for the most part at least.
Yep, movement isn't that important really. It's more for fun and style and pub-stomping. There's a reason all these movement gods aren't playing in pro leagues and doing the predator race.
I have similar aim on both M&K and controller so i'm gonna have to say everyone coping on AA needs to hit aimlabs icl, but tbf I don't use AA on controller at all bc it messes up sniping and the little movement controller has.
people always use "movement" as an argument when it comes to MnK vs Roller and use Faide or Aceu,Itztimmy as an example cannot see what makes them good is not their movement but their positioning and decision making + raw aim. The movement is just extra spice. I can do every movement that Faide does and i am not as a good as him. For TGM: i am an MnK main for about 7k hours and am 6x masters. I started to play roller a bit, more or less doing an experiment like you’re doing. I played roller for about 3-4 weeks and have determined my aim is by far superior on it, my movement on it is good* but my positioning is the thing that seems to be not quite as good. I think it comes down to time spent. I think the more I play, the more that positioning error will correct itself. It’s just tough since i’m a comp (competitive) player as well and need to find which is better. As of currently there is a trade-off if i play controller. Sacrifice slight positioning mistakes and get better aim or have worse aim but have better positioning. I think it comes down to needing more time spent. I’m curious how your road will be 👍🏻
Because mnk is what's used on pcs, has always been the 'correct' input for competitive shooters, and mnk players are forced into playing against roller/console players. It's literally like PC shooter players are suddenly forced to play against cheaters. Plus it affects the pro scene. I think what makes mnk hard to use for your average player is the large amount of visual clutter in the game and camera shake and finally (at least for me) not having an option to have a static reticle like in CS2
I've been using controller for years but I still hate it, just doesn't feel good for FPS
Why do you use it then? Is a slightly higher win rate more important to you than having fun?
@@witchinggecko4271 I haven't upgraded my computer since 2011, I decided to switch to console for games so I don't have to worry about my frame rate etc compared to others and to not have to deal with cheaters. I'll use m&k in console games that support it.

@@yahootube90 Its a significantly less immersive feeling. M&K feels like you're in the world & controller feels like you're detached. Its hard to describe.
That said I love controller for loads of triple A games, just not FPS's.
What sense are you using, looks so slow. I recommend linear response curve, once you learn it it is much better than anything else. Also try different sens because sometimes you find the perfect sense that you don't realise is the best for you. I used to play 3 3 and was meh, then changed to 6 sen and 5 ads I became sooo much better
I hit master in the same season I swapped. Trying different sens is a great way to improve on controller
Also up cursor speed to make looting boxes and evo swapping much quicker, it will come with experience
What settings do you use?

Is Merchant playing classic or Linear?
Playing shooters on controller is cursed in the first place. Its so bad every game just buffs it with an assist. 🤡
Controllers must be banned from ranked.
If you grow up with console, it not unnatural... also there are games without aim assist that are fun with out aim assist so it possible... example rainbow 6 does not have aim assist... they remove it due to being hard to hold angles with it... even with all of this... ya I don't think aim assist should exist in apex for pc... ruins competition

one of MNK's biggest strengths is its also its biggest weakness.

ITs roller payers and MnK players both thinking they're getting the raw end of the deal
people always use "movement" as an argument when it comes to MnK vs Roller and use Faide or Aceu,Itztimmy as an example cannot see what makes them good is not their movement but their positioning and decision making + raw aim. The movement is just extra spice. I can do every movement that Faide does and i am not as a good as him.

i use 8/5 linear if i have to use a cintroller, yea i am isane
AA should just not be a thing unless its a contest between two users of AA. It should be for controller only, in their lobbies only. Disable crossplay on Apex, and get rid of AA completely on MnK game versions. i’ve been trying to switch to mnk and it feels more smooth and fast than controller, aiming is easier, and the movement is insane to controller. ik that i’ll get heat for it but mnk is still better then controller to me. you can be on mnk and beat roller players like Exkidsflash on Black Hand or all of Fire Beavers. roller def is the faster route to get good but if you put the time in on mnk you will be better over time. I've been playing my whole life in FPS using mouse. But when I tried roller and practice firing range for 35 hours. My damage and kills improve than playing on PC. I've been playing for 2 weeks now using a roller and working on my speed especially on switching meds, rewiring my brain into its inputs and swap armor. At first, I was looking for the best ALC settings, but I realized no ALC is better than having ALC settings.
The fact your aim is even comparable after less than a week shows that aim assist needs a harsh nerf. It's ridiculous.
I’m curious how your road will be 👍🏻
Me playing on console wondering why people lose their minds over the predominant input used in this game.
Because mnk is what's used on pcs, has always been the 'correct' input for competitive shooters, and mnk players are forced into playing against roller/console players. It's literally like PC shooter players are suddenly forced to play against cheaters. Plus it affects the pro scene. There's never been a shooter where AA is so powerful that it forces pros to learn a whole new input method just to be competitive.
@@edwardchester1 Mnk was never designed or meant for gaming Controller has always been better suited for playing games. Calling aimassist in apex cheating is laughable when you look at cod and other games with AA that litterly Pull the gun towards the guy instead of rotational slow down which is apex AA

That isn't surprising at all. Now imagine a controller player moving to KBM, after 5 days they'd still be running around like a headless chicken for the most part. I know that AA isn't cheating at all, but for me, being someone that grew up on KBM, I used a controller for a few days like yourself but I was playing cod and I honestly felt like I would get accused of cheating because of how powerful AA can be some times up close. It felt so wrong taking advantage of AA idk how to explain it. I haven't tried apex with a controller yet but since everyone seems to be making the move I guess I'll give it a shot. I do understand that it's the only way to make controllers viable on PC as there is a general lack of control and precision on the sticks compared to KBM so I'm kinda fine with it. No hate to the controller enjoyers out there at all. I'm just sharing my experience. I like using my controller for solo games etc, it's comfortable!

This is what's been so infuriating about the whole situation. I've literally never used a roller in my life. Never owned a games console. Yet I could still just about counter recoil enough to beam with a roller in minutes. Like, I am totally useless with it. Spin round in circles and everything. But you lock on pull down a bit and boom, beaming. How it has ever been an argument that AA isn't super powerful and a massive advantage, I just do not know. People love themselves a crutch. Now, arguing that other things balance it?... Well, clearly the pro scene is showing that doesn't count either. Only thing that's left is that Respawn wants to keep console players. That's it. No more or less. Please the bigger player base. Done. But please stop arguing it's in anyway balanced, people.
cope is a helluva drug.
It's also an accessibility thing. Most of the world uses controllers to play FPS games, why balance your game in such a way that you have to devote hundreds of hours to an input to be good at it?
