Thank you for another good tip Keith. We have to practice with and know our service info just as well as our tools, after all it's really just another tool in our arsenal as long as we can leverage it properly. I know I've been tripped up by not reading service info closely enough or not knowing where they hide the info.
Calibration and programing?! , now there's a big difference between them . Kris Lewis and I had a long chat about this after a hybrid class at long island couple of weeks ago , and we joke about how even tha carpet in a car had to be calibrated . Great job Keith
NOW I CAN TRULY SAY THE SUN HAS COME OUT . THAT BOSCH SCAN TOOL IS MAKING OUT TO BE ONE HELL OF A TOOL . I AM WONDERING IS THE PASSTHROUGH MODULE ABLE TO DO PROGRAMMING LIKE THE OLD OTC GENISYS TOUCH PASSTHROUGH MODULE AND THANKS SO MUCH KEITH WE ALL HERE ARE SO GLAD THAT THE SHERIFF IS BACK IN TOWN !
Great video thanks brother. Really great information about that. Like every code do your in depth research before anything else. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
They're certainly making it more complicated for us everyday, all the more reason to get this info out there! Would be almost t-shirt weather for you over there now?! Great video as usual! 👍🏼
Hi Keith . I am aware of the suffix and got caught on that years ago ! Why is it when you went to tests it and programming it wasn't there as an option . I have programmed Ford and Mazda SUV's and it does appear in data as Steering Angle Sensor - Not Learned . Once you calibrate a GM does it then appear as data ??? Hope you understood my question
I have a Question..put a 2.5 level kit on my vehicle..had alignment done.. first time steering wheel tight and when wheel straight goes left..second time wheel now has play and can turn with one finger..2018 silverado 1500 crew cab.. ca. I adjust myself like old days. Or do I need a computer and all the goodies
I have a 2018 gmc terrain denali, I replaced the power steering motor and now get the same message. Using Xtool A80 and GM SPS (to reprogram the module) I get a "no communication with steering control module". The new power steering motor is a used motor from a junk yard that was tested working before installing. Any suggestions?
I had this issue with my 2017 Malibu. Dealership gave me several options to fix the issue. The day I was to take it in my battery died. Called a tow truck, the driver asked if I was having any issues. Told him what was going on.... He said once I change my battery it will fix my problems... I did not believe him.... Put a new battery in... Damn, no more issues... When the battery was fully disconnected, it cleared all of the error codes out. Haven't had the issue since... It might work for you....
I have that currently saying that and on my dash it shows abs, stabiltrak, Brake and when I turn the steering wheel it’s hard and when I turn my 2015 truck off it makes a big pop in the back like brakes what is the issue I’m having
This is good knowledge to have, interesting. Do you like pro demand (Mitchell) or alldata better? I’m on the fence with switching to alldata from Mitchell
I have this same exact issue,so I took it to the dealership and they wanted to charge me $2,000.00 I took my truck back home and did some research myself and come to find out it's some loose wire up above the Body control module. I wiggle the wire and the issue goes away
@@martinoliva24 under the dashboard, above the brake pedal. You'll see a small grey box which is your BCM. attached to it are a series of wires all rolled into one. Wiggle that set and at the same time move the steering wheel left and right to see if it turns. I did this to mine about 6 months ago and hasn't acted up anymore
is the new rack somehow requiring this or was maybe the wheel turned out of range with the rack disconnected? my question i guess is why other than the service info says so
Hey man great video I have a quick question My 2016 Silverado has the same steering assist code on the dashboard can I drive the truck like that supposed to go on a road trip with it About 500 miles I hope that I can drive and this is not a safety issue that will put The truck in limp mode with a check engine light. Please advise is it OK to drive steering wheel is squeaking a bit was told it was a bad steering shaft. And info is appreciated Thanks man great video again 👍
Driving it this way could have some potential danger of the steering feeling locked up when you least expect it. I would strongly advise handling it before the trip
@@NewLevelAuto thanks alot man I appreciate your insight I'm gonna try and get it taken care of asap have an appt with dealer hope they don't kill me lol
I have a 2015 GMC Yukon XL 5.3L I had total loss of power steering. The dealer ran the codes and I had no communication to the power steering system. So they changed the mega fuse which sits on top of the battery and boom. Power steering works. That was my fix I hoped I helped some of you
This happened to me after try to programa an additional key with an inexperienced technician, after reading a post that unplugging the battery for 10min the message will disappear, I tried and it works. Be careful not to break the nut that tightens the battery positive pole because it happend to me. So try this first expend money (tahoe 2017)
DIY'ers are going to be screwed once all these vehicles age out. Lost your GM valve stem cap? Well that requires reprogramming! 😂 I wouldn't put that past 'em ... Great info Keith. I only just recently noticed people discussing codes with the 2 digit descriptor at the end. Good to know these things before everything that rolls in has this. Thanks! 👍🍻

If I just change the power steering pump do I need to do this?
Thanks for the video!

Does this also work for the 2008 models? They also don't have reset for steering angle sensors. Thanks

Great reminder to pay attention to the code suffix!
What’s a Two Thousand Teen?
You are awesome master. Thanks for teaching us new things everyday.
Keith what is the tool you use in place of a fuse...?
Thanks for the video.
with what type of tool do you program it
W/alignement and sensor calibration required after that type of repair
Great job
THANKYOU VERY VERY GOOD INFO
Awesome info thanks
What if I have those codes an also another that says lose of steering position and the steering won’t move at all
So you scanned it but what App are you using to program it ?
You mean to tell me , those letters and numbers at the end mean something ? Love it good video , as you said look deeper .

Hey did you ever find out what it was? Mine just started this yesterday.
What's the average price for this service?
thanks for sharing.
This is good knowledge to have, interesting. Do you like pro demand (Mitchell) or alldata better? I’m on the fence with switching to alldata from Mitchell
I'm an Alldata fan through and through
Thumbs up!
Service info..thats great unless your in the uk... We aint got nothing like that over here

What year your truck ?
Where is this wire exactly? This might be my help.

Because the new rack/module has no settings whatsoever. That's why they make you program first and then press the magic button
what’s the price to remove this code?
Very good info. Question. So when you change a rack and pinion on a late vehicle the power steering module has to be reprogrammed?
Yes sir
FIRST... my HEART PLEASE KEITH
Gracias KEITH. ...SALUDOS A ROCKOOOOO

Where are you based out of ? Need to take my truck to you

Just seen this video…. You must go to the SETUP in the GDS screen before you program or it’ll never work
