- A guide on how to change your old Hyundai key shell to a new shell.
Step 1: Open old and new key shells (be careful of the spring)
Step 2: Prepare old blade for new shell
Step 3: Remove circuit board and battery from old shell
Step 4: Carefully break away around the transponder chip
Step 5: Cut away the glue around transponder chip
Step 6: Transfer transponder chip, battery and circuit board to new shell
Step 7: Close new case and secure with screw at the back
Thanks for sharing: changed mine and now the trunk opener button works like a charm again!
Thank you for doing this. you saved me a lot of time and over $120. It's genuinely appreciated :)
Easy as! Key blank arrived from Remote Pro to me in Western Australia within 3 days. Easy to remove the circuit board, key, white clip and transponder block. Did not have to dig out with pliers as in this video. Really simple to replace in the key blank. Spent more time fiddling with the key and spring to get the flip to work right when button pushed, than with electronics. Highly recommended. Easy to do and so much cheaper than going to a Hyundai dealer and being ripped off. If you get the metal key blank cut to match, you can use it your old key body, without circuitry as a spare key-only entry.
Excellent video got me out of trouble as I did know about the transponder. Thanks
Thank you. I was able to fix both of my key FOB's with your video. Breaking the original cases with 2 pliers and not damaging the circuit boards was a bit tricky but in the end it saved me nearly $300.
thank you so much for your video. i had to replace casing on my i30 key and didn't realise the transponder had to be transferred as well ( the immobilizer didn't work obviously with the engine turning but not firiny and the lock key lamp on the instrument panel). It was a bloody nightmare to separate the chip from the case (the glue was so strong, took me about an hour of carefull work with pliers and Stanley knife) but eventually worked. Great work.
Mine was tricky to separate the existing case, pretty much destroyed it in the process. Then the transponder chip was equally difficult to extract, had to literally cut away most of the case to get the little bugger out. Must have had plenty of glue available in the Hyundai factory the day that they built my car. All good now though, works fine.Good product, I'd recommend it.
Ooohhh my goodness atlast I found that this video really helped me......I subbed and liked the video😀😀😀
Thank God u saves my day..
Thank you soo much i can't figure it out with out you with the transmiter
I didn't know step7. Thank you.
Brilliant. Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for posting this. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanka a lot for teh video. I almost chucked the transponder out until I saw your video.
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment :)
Dziękuję za film, zabieram się za naprawę 👍🙂
Saved me £200 😜❤️ and welldone
Thanks very useful
This is what i was looking for
Omg - these keys. What a pain! Great video though - saves me!
Glad it helped!
the small light on the remote didn't blink right?? is it working properly
Thanks. I don't have a soldering iron so trying to force the transponder out with a small flat head screwdriver. not having much luck. :-(
unreal!!!!!!! watching another video and totally forgot the transponder, got the transponder plastic holder thou!
THX!!!
This is very helpful, but unfortunately the length of key that inserts into the ignition is no longer attached to the rest of the metal part which goes into the rotating mechanism. That's my whole issue! So I can't replace that whole metal section into the new key. Is there any way to fix it if that's the problem? Thanks for your help!
You should get the new blank key cut to the same shape as your existing broken key by a locksmith
There is a screw holding the fob together behind the Kia logo on my fob. Also it may be strange but there is no chip in my fob. Car runs just fine. Just have a little trouble with key flipping out. Seems to be too tight.
tiny tiger t Just finished transferring the old guts on to a new shell on a KIA Sportage 2013, I spent a couple of hours looking for the transponder (chip) thinking I had dropped it while opening it, then I tried turning the engine on and it turned on so that proved to me the transponder is integrated in to the board or something else because there was NO transponder inside that case.
Do Kia Sorento 2013 have transponder chip? I had my flip key case replaced by a local locksmith. He told me that it doesn't have one (or maybe he can't remember). Good thing, I can start my engine. Any thoughts?
Hey, your key will not operate your car without a programmed transponder so it sounds like it has been successfully transferred over
very good video but when i put it back together and went to start the car it wouldn't and the alarm went off. Any help will be much appreciated
Ahh Man....thank you!!!
Bonjour impossible d'ouvrir ma clé elle est collée à chaud
How did you manage to open the shell? :( Won't open for me.
plaYabaus did you ever get your original fob opened? I have bought new shells for my mother-in-law's keys and am trying to open the first one and I swear it will not come open! You can get the battery compartment off and the battery out but it's like the rest is made together or something. The replacement case popped right open. I swear it is not as easy to open as he makes it look in this video unless for some reason her original fob is glued together. I am glad that I watched this video to see that transponder chip or I may have damaged it trying to muscle the old case open.
The cases are generally glued and it can take a long time to try get these open.
I know some cases have a screw hidden behind the badge on the back. Might help someone I hope.
Remote Pro is hairdryer heating helpful to open the case??
I used a mini hacksaw to open one. It was super glued together!
Can I do this without changing your key
I folloewd the vidio and changed everything over. What is the little white things, three in my kit?
Hey, thanks for your comment. I'm not sure what the white things are. Did you get the case from Remote
pro?
Please use a camera that can focus!
Thank you I wasted my whole day wondering why it’s not working, it turns out I forget the small chip inside the old one (step4)
Great to hear! lucky you you didn't chuck it out 👍
Where do you get to screw from what size is it
The screw comes with the shell, which can be purchased on our website 👍
Done this, the doors open but the car wont start now.. any clues please
Hi, the transponder is most likely still in the old key, this is under the white plastic cover and is small and black and about the size of a tic tac. We show the transponder at 2:07 here czcams.com/video/F8yqoHXAo10/video.html Once this is transferred, your key will start the car.
u didnt show how to open the original fob
HELP - I swapped the electronics into a new shell forgetting about the RFID chip. Tried to start the car, then remembered the RFID chip, and fitted that (as per your video, thanks :)). But the car apparently won't accept that RFID chip now. The remote locks / unlocks fine, and the engine cranks, but won't fire. My other key fob is fine.
Ant Williams Hi, please email us at sales@remotepro.com.au with photos of the inside of Borge the new and the old key and I will be able to assist.
Thanks - sadly I only saw this when I got to work (without the key). I'll do so tonight.
I have emailed photos - hopefully you can advise me. TIA.
Sent photos by email. Hope you'll be able to advise me. TIA.
Ant Williams mm
Should be more info at the start about the level of difficulty involved . Total waste of time and money. Will have to go get a new key now anyway.
Hi Karmina, really sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. We will certainly update our video to include more detail in the beginning of the process. Please email us with some photos of your current key and we can certainly help you to get this working as soon as possible.
Thanks!
you didn't show how to open!
Turn the bloody music down, and talk us through it.
No key opens like that. Move on. NEXT!!
Do not open the key you risk to broke it
