    Not a bad little squirreler at all at 40 yds. The trick is to dial in the scope for that specific distance, because the gun seems to perform better at that range than it does at shorter distances for some reason. (Sounds odd, but it’s true- at least, from my experience with it.)

    I have an older version of that, but it does have the gas piston. I've had it about three years and it's been great, I really like the smoothness of the gas piston. I haven't had any trouble with it, still shoots great. I put a Simmons scope on it and it's providing excellent accuracy out to 30 yards and good accuracy to 50 yards. Just takes some practice to be consistent with it to get the best accuracy but that's typical for any break barrel I guess.

  • @greg6162
    @greg6162 Před 3 lety +3

    Light shoulder pressure and try the artillery hold with is resting the rifle on your palm flat and letting it recoil where it wants. Again, flat palm don’t grip the stock tight. You’ll get the hang of it... it’s almost everything opposite of shooting powder burner’s. It takes some time if you’re just jumping to high powered air rifles because shooters instinct makes you want to tuck that stock shoulder tight and grip the stock. Instead resting it flat on your palm or keep a VERY light grip helps. Every air rifle shoots different but I find the most important factor is finding the balance point on the forward stock and placing your hand in the same spot (non trigger finger) on the rifle everytime will give you dimes, especially from a rest. Every time I’m in Walmart I look for the Ruger impact Elite and it’s always out of stock. But I live in New York State and we have the strictest gun/knife laws it’s almost communist. I envy you southerners being able to carry pocket knives and such. Would be nice to get some land and setup a shooting range without close neighbors. Me and my dad have to drive almost 2 hours when small game season opens for public hunting however my cousin has land which is still 90min drive. Maybe you should do a follow up review after breaking it in and maybe getting a better scope! Them UTG scopes are the best bang for your buck... even at $100 it holds zero on my Hatsan 125 Vortex Camo in .22 which has the most powerful gas piston power plant in a break barrel air rifle period! It’s a beast cocking at 50/lbs compared to most breakers at around 30/lbs and it’s 10.5lbs scoped and at 48.5” in length it’s not great for offhand shooting. I carried that hunting for about 6-7/hours in the woods and my back was screaming the next day... but I’m 40 and getting old Lol. Nice video 👍
    Edit: Also forgot to mention if you plan on using air rifles for hunting you might want to get a Chrony because a lot of these Walmart gas piston box rifles tend to leak gas due bad piston seals. Usually it’s because of a burr that snags the seal causing a slow leak over time. Hopefully you get lucky but you won’t know unless you Chrono the FPS at the muzzle. It’s a cheap fix if you have a clamp for the piston. If need be there are detailed videos on CZcams that explain the process

    A slight step above the other cheap break barrel air rifles.....better than a sling shot : )

    • @greg6162
      @greg6162 Před 3 lety +4

      It can take up to 500 rounds to break in and season the barrel. Every breaker air rifle has a break in period. But most importantly, the included stock scopes are terrible and will almost always having you adjusting your zero. It might hold for 10-50 shots hitting dime groups but then your groups will jump like popcorn. The good thing is this rifle comes with nice weaver rails so I would recommend upgrading the scope to a UTG BugBuster if you can afford the $100 it’s absolutely worth it. That scope will outlast the rifle most likely and the glass is fantastic for the price. Once I upgraded the scope off my Gamo Swarm, Benjamin Prowler and Hatsan 125 Vortex all in .22 I literally shot a dime at 23yds on my first shot and recorded it on my phone in my backyard. Two things when shooting break barrels are important... the “Artillery Hold” which you can lookup and consistent trigger control is crucial! Use the middle part of the pad of your trigger finger (not the crook where the first joint bends) and once your trigger breaks in it will get easier when you know exactly where it breaks and releases the sear. Practicing is obviously your friend but more so is helping to break in the rifle’s trigger and seasoning the barrel. You don’t need to clean the barrel unless you notice accuracy issues and groups won’t hold anymore. In that case using Ballistol to clean the barrel will help (don’t use Hoppes #9 it will damage your breach seal o-ring) clean out caked lead that can build up and negate your rifling in the barrel but most air rifles self clean with each pellet pushing out lead dust from the previous. Your groups should get noticeably better on a new rifle and if after 500 through the pipe it’s still not grouping (assuming you’ve upgraded the scope because it’s necessary to hold a consistent zero) then it could be a gas piston leak on the seal. A Chrony would help isolate the problem, you can see if the FPS drops off drastically. It will over time a very little which is normal when breaking it in because all Walmart rifles will Diesel when you first get them because of the oils that are put in the piston assembly from China. These will naturally burn out from shooting. You probably have noticed the smell and seen smoke coming from the breach when loading a new pellet after firing. That is the oils combusting which will make the rifle temporarily shoot a little faster during the break in period but will go away after 50-500. Good luck 👍

      Don't grip with your hand and leave butt of rifle off your shoulder and you will get alot more accurate, it's the piston that makes ppl shoot everywhere, it goes back and forward with recoil and that's before pellet ever leaves the barrel, break barrels are different than air pump or air can

      Trust me man, it's him, not the rifle. I have one of those rifles and it is VERY accurate. It's just that some people are accurate shooters and some need a little more practice, that's all. It's a good low cost rifle, it really is.
