      Thanks for posting this, I didn’t know, I’m assuming cancer as I seen someone referring him to a site that had info on curing/treating cancer. My sister just passed from an aggressive type of lung cancer, so reading this about this man, Kenny, is very sad news. This was the only video I’ve watched that was his, as I was watching it I was hoping there were others. He did produce very informative reviews, such a shame he was taken too soon I’m sure. If he had family I offer my condolences to them and anyone his passing affected.

    The rifle arrived today and I dialed in the scope just a couple hours ago czcams.com/users/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL . I haven’t shot with a scope in probably 25 years. The X on the left was my target. (the shot almost in the bullseye on the right X was my father in laws first shot after I made adjustments) The two shots circled are my first 2 shots. Then I brought it down - shot once. Then brought it over to the left. From there zeroed it in to dead center. This all was from 25 yards out. Follow instructions carefully when mounting the scope. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.

    Bought one last year, took a good 400 rounds to get it broke in, switch to a 3x9x40 utg mil dot scope, at 95 yards shoots pop cans off the fence post. Now this gun took a lot of patience to get close to zero at 50 yards, I shoot all kinds of pellets in 22 cal. The best was the 14.3 grams crossman premier doom pellets. Very nice rifle, looks great and feels right, price was right also. Thxs

    I just bought this gun from my local Walmart and I really like it, it has nice power and looks great for the price point. I have had BB rifles for camping and plinking beer cans while camping with friends and I’ve used it for pest control eliminating roof rats at my home. I got this to replace an old Crosman pump BB rifle that had poor power and terrible accuracy, but it was super cheap and it did its job for plinking cans. I gave that Crosman to my friends young son who is now old enough to have a BB rifle to start his plinking journey with his father while camping. I’ve never been big into air rifles and this is my first “good” gun for what I am using it for and it has great power to put down the roof rats which the Crosman pump BB rifle didn’t, so I am pretty happy with my purchase because it wasn’t expensive and it does it’s job well. I can’t wait to take it camping and test it’s accuracy and power more at different ranges.
    Great breakdown of the rifle, you really go into detail and this video is great for real air rifle enthusiasts. Great job! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

Terrible trigger out the box, but changed the panhead adjustment screw for a longer one and it helped. I hope it smooths out with more shots. Had to tighten and apply blue lock to all screws and shim the seal. Scope is junk in my opion and i changed it. Ive been bitten by the bug now. Thank you sir for your reviews. Scope is a pain in the a**, and not worth the time if you have a second to use. Good power. Will be trying differenf pellets soon. Overall great value.

    Thanks for the great review. Noticed a comment indicates this guy may have passed away? If so then happy trails partner and we'll see you back at the ranch. I bought this gun at Walmart a few days ago and couldn't be more pleased. The fit and finish is really top-notch especially at this price, nice looking gun. I was shocked at the accuracy shooting bull's-eyes right out of the box even got a couple at about 200 ft. Using Crosman premier hollow point. Before shooting it I cleaned the barrel with some cotton patches and hoppe's number 9. Barrel was very dirty inside from the factory which could affect your accuracy. Definitely shoots harder than the Benjamin prowler which I also have and (which no longer shoots accurately seems to have a piston problem). As much as I like the Prowler for the heavy composite stock, although I did replace the plastic muzzle brake with a nice metal one, the Prowler was never as accurate as this Ruger. I have cleaned the prowler tightened all the bolts and it is still shooting a 1 foot spread at 30 ft like a shotgun.. definitely something wrong with it going to send it into Crosman. Very pleased with the Ruger impact Max it is a very well-made air rifle at any price. The scope was not that great put on a better scope and had its zeroed within a few shots. The trigger pull is stiff, but very crisp and with a predictable break, have not tried adjusting it but really isn't an issue. the Benjamin Regal 2 that I have is just as accurate but much smoother trigger pull and release, however it was $100 more. I will say the Ruger seems slightly more powerful though and maybe a bit more stable to hold because the stock is more of a square shape. The sound suppressor works very well, you only hear the piston when you fire. Air gun accuracy is kind of a mysterious thing and I noticed that it can vary from one day to the next without anything being different about the gun. A lot of it is the shooter believe it or not, eg. How you are holding the rifle, breathing and your concentration on the day. With the Ruger impact Max as with the Benjamin Regal 2 the rifles will be as accurate as the shooter. Maybe some people have experienced quality control issues or they just need to clean the barrel first. I did not try shooting the rifle before cleaning the barrel so I don't know if that might have been an issue. of course make sure to run patches through the barrel until there is no oil or you will have dieseling. Highly recommended and a nice addition to anyone's collection. My .02

    I had a hell of a time with that trigger. Trigger pull is so hard I kept pulling the gun to the side every time I pulled the trigger,and I just couldn't get good groups. maybe because I'm new at this. But as soon as I took the trigger apart and replaced the spring with a much,much lighter spring from a pen the trigger pull was so much better. Very light and crisp.and my groups got really good. The pen spring was way longer,so I cut it but still left it a little longer than the original spring because it was so much lighter of a spring than the original I didn't want the trigger to be too light. It turned out perfectly

    I bought it. Love it. Very accurate shooting cheap Crosman premier hollow points. The trigger was TERRIBLE out of the box.....like a crunchy 12 lb trigger pull. I replaced the trigger adjustment screw which removed most of the crunchiness, & shortened the first stage of trigger pull, & reduced the second stage trigger pull a tad. Not happy yet with the trigger I disassembled the trigger assembly and polished the mating surfaces & cut 1 loop off the sear spring. This reduced the second stage trigger pull by @ 1/2 and removed all the crunch in the trigger action.

    i have taken mine on two camping trips for some accuracy tests in the field - I have literally dropped this gun and it will shoot a dime at 50 yards, just the same as when i took it out of the box, both with open sights and the included scope. STOCK HEX SCREWS MUST BE TIGHTENED SIGNIFICANTLY after first several uses. THIS is noted in the instructions, and makes all the difference in the inconsistency that this video is stuck on. The Trigger pull is different then i'm used to, but has not been a problem. I have the Elite II as well, and love both, but this is an amazing upgrade. Perhaps the quality control is off? I would highly recommend this air rifle.

  • @benswann5374
    @benswann5374 Před 6 lety +1

    I recently purchased .22 Impact (refurbished?) off Ebay for about $100. Love the look. First one arrived and I noticed the stock was cracked - suspect someone tightened mounting screw down to tight. I received full refund immediately and re-ordered. I have been happy with it. I'm not used to scopes and this one seems a little cheesy, so I took it off - I did look up the scope online as if I were to purchase it separately and the price was more than I bought the gun and scope together. I'm fairly good at using the sight, and once I adjusted have fairly consistent groups using a variety (mostly cheep chinese) pellets. Usually get within a quarters diameter on two of 8 shots with the rest spread out about 4" from center. I find I tend to shoot left a tad - this gun has more recoil than my AR-15. I don't mind cocking force, but my GFs son has a hard time, needing to put stock on knee to break the gun open. I may have the older style trigger and safety is push-in behind the barrel assy. Trigger pull is tight but I guess I'm not that picky. Did serious impact damage to a steel light post I've shot previously with .177 air guns that barely leave a scratch - this thing puts a deep pock mark at 100'. Note - not shooting at this post anymore as my AR-15 went straight thru. Great air-rifle for the price.

    • @AmericanAkosm
      @AmericanAkosm Před 3 lety

      It is extraordinarily naive to think that you could use a break barrel air rifle for a self defense weapon, if "the world goes to hell": that would be suicidal. For self defense, it is best to consider a semiautomatic firearm, such as an AR 15, or a shotgun. If recoil frightens you, get a real Ruger 10/22,. A rifle in 22lr is certainly better than a single fire air rifle, and .22lr is almost universally under appreciated for defense, as it could be plausibly adequate for defense if you were defending your home at a distance, against typical street thugs.

    Mine is doing the same thing. I'm using Gamo pellets with the steel BB. In the tip. Im certain I'm dead solid on target with sand bags. I will shoot five inside a dime. The next five I might keep 4 inside the bottom round part of a soda can. I do not like the trigger pull. Makes me think of my SKS. I do like it though. Its fun cheap anx accurate. It has already removed a couple feral cats that have destroyed our rabbits locally. Im thinking that the alignment between the scope and barrel is not always returning to the same place. Other times it does. One thing I do know is that my dad has a Crossman 2100 that is 30 years old and It is far more accurate. If you bench it it shoots consistent half inch groups. I wish they made a 22.

    I tightened the adjustable trigger down to its maximum, this eliminates most of the free travel and slightly lessens the amount of force it takes to shoot the rifle, my complaint thus far is the difference between different distances, sighted dead on at 30 yards equals low and right at 45 yards, I elected to sight it dead on at 45 yards and just aim low and slightly left at 30 yards. Alloy pellets seem to be hard to find in my area, I’m going to order some and see if accuracy improves, I’m new to air rifles and was looking for some good sound advice on cleaning the rifle, thus far I’ve only wiped down the outside of the rifle, I seen videos saying don’t clean them and I’ve seen videos saying clean after each 200 shots so I’m not sure which way to go on that one, as you said I think the rifle is capable of great accuracy, I just wish I could figure out its combination.

      Thank you, I will give that a try, I’m toying with the idea of disassembling the assembly and polishing the proper spots to lighten that pull, I’m not sure of my skills in that regard though. It looks totally doable , so maybe. I found a unique use for it, I sighted in the open sights, then removed the scope mounding rail that came on the rifle. Then put an Axeon red dot right on to the barrel and adjusted the dot to land right on the front sight. It turned out to be a very useful rifle for teaching my grandkids to use open sights, they get that scope experience they prefer so much, lol, but fooled into getting used to a proper open site picture.Thanks so much for the making the screw comment, I’m going to try it now!

    The Ruger Max Elite (in my own humble opinion) was built for killing squirrels at exactly 40 yards. For some reason, this gun under-performs at shorter distances- but that’s just my own personal experience. After some experimentation with distance, I sighted in their provided scope at precisely 40 yds and have had no problems hitting 1 1/2” groups of 5 with standard .22 Premier pellets. It’s a good gun.

I just picked up this air rifle and i cant wait to shoot it. the wood is very nice its got a good feel and i love the weight of it. the trigger is very smooth on mine. i think it comes down to the person that assembled it good day or bad day at work. 149$ with tax 09/09/18. i thought itd be a bit cheaper a year later but honestly its a good solid price for a 22. i have also a 177 silent cat and i love that too which i bought at walmart for 65$ in 2017. it was a broken box so maybe thats why. but guys check walmarts or dicks or cabelas for a good one and do research. im glad i came across the silent cat for so cheap.

    I just bought this Ruger, Trigger very crunchy. Shot 25 rounds with Gamo Red fire. Took a few rounds to get center, and get the scope to bring my shots up, but once I got centered the Red Fires destroyed the red zone at 25yrds. The trigger is a beast and defiantly hurts the Ruger Impact Max,as they say learn you trigger, I did back it all the way down, still a monster. A little smaller grip would be a plus.

    Kenneth, do you have any suggestion for lightening the pull on this trigger? Mine needs 6.5 lbs of force to fire, and my similar Umarex Forge needs 7.5 lbs. (I think they are the same trigger - looks like it). I've rounded the sharp tip on the screw behind the trigger - that actually lowered the pull to these numbers as it required even more force before that. But I'd like to get it at least down to 5 lbs or even below that. Any advice? Thanks. And thanks for your *great* vids.

    • @prfssrleee
      @prfssrleee Před 6 lety

      Hi Kenneth, I just tried doing that. Took apart the trigger and there is a coil spring that controls the tension in the 2nd stage. Replaced it with a ballpoint pen spring. It fired once (definitely less than 3 lbs pull), but then wouldn't cock. I guess the spring I used was too light and it wasn't able to push the seer back up into position? It's the 1st time I ever disassembled a springer, so maybe what I'm saying is nonsense. Any advice? Just live with the 7.5# pull? Try another spring that is lighter than the original but stiffer than the pen? Thanks for your advice! And thanks for your vids.

      @prfssrleee Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Kenny, just an update on my formerly 7.5# pull trigger. I finally got up the nerve and went in and replaced the sear spring with a lighter weight one. Now the trigger is beautiful - 8 oz for the 1st stage and 1lb 4oz for the 2nd stage break. Absolutely repeatable. Banged it around to make sure it wouldn't accidental fire. In case anyone else wants to do this, the spring I used is a 0.156 in OD, 0.016 wire diam, 1-inch long spring that I cut down to match the length of the OEM sear spring (about 0.6"). That spring is $0.40 at the local hardware store.

      Late here,but yes. Put a 3-9×40 hammers scope on it or UTG 3-9×32 bugbuster scope. Throw away the cheap scope that came with it or sell it and get a good scope above mentioned. It will bring out it's true accuracy. Also you might want to get the crosman premier pellet ammo for it.They seem to work good in these air rifles and won't slow it down too much. Also a trick I learned about this one,you can take out the little plastic pieces out of the silencer in the end of the barrel muffler and get a little more speed and power from it,slightly more sound but worth it.Also to keep this air rifle accurate you will need some loc tite blue glue and put a bunch on each bolt in the forearm of the stock and the 2 bolts that hold the trigger guard on. Because she puts power on the bolts from the wooden stock, these bolts come loose after 20 shots or less. Also you will need some 100% pure silicone oil such as crosman RMC silcone oil, put 2 drops in the piston chamber hole on the piston side little hole where you break the barrel.After 150 shots or so to keep your piston in great shape and lubricated!It will keep it accurate. And wear less. Ed The Professional Backyard Sniper Man😀😎✌

These are highly credited air rifle choices. But you will have to purchase a good scope for best results. 3-9×40 hammers scope or a UTG 3-9×32 bugbuster scope. I bought one of these and commented here before. When is comes down to it , it’s a breakbarrel, a moving barrel in front and a scope on the back, I’ve never gotten one of them to group very good. Recently I’ve solved two problems with one hack if you will. I try to get my grandchildren to learn how to use open sights as I think it’s important that they do. They resist and want scope, scope scope. It occurred to me the open sights on the rifle are decent , so I took the scope off and sighted them in, I then got an Axeon red, green , blue dot scope from Wally World for around 40 and mounted it onto the rifle grooves(NOT THE RAIL THAT MAKES IT HIGHER, TAKE THAT OFF-IMPORTANT) then adjust the dot where it’s dead on bullseye with open sights sighted to 6 o’clock of the bulls eye. Now when they shoot the rifle they naturally get a proper sight picture of open sights and learned to use those sights to compensate when the dot seems a little off all on there own to my happy surprise. Using those sights viewed through the cheap red dot scope has made this a super fun practice pinker at my house. I just wanted to share and this was my favorite review of this rifle. My condolences this this mans family, he made very fine review videos, to say the least. I wish he could read all the nice comments I’ve seen here.

      It's a break barrel with a gas piston power plant. When you cock the barrel, it also cocks the gas piston. When you pull the trigger, the gas piston SLAMS forward, compressing air immediately, which then forces the pellet thru and out the barrel. Not co2. Btw, Kenny passed away about 2 years ago.
