    You are doing an excellent job providing quality information on all these guns. It is nice that you show such a wide selection of airguns at varying price points. I would enjoy seeing some ballistic demonstrations comparing different guns. Perhaps where you shoot clay at different distances with different pellets

    Nice review. I did the same thing with a Gamo swarm fox. Paid $100 for it on sale. Swapped out the spring and piston seal for a gas piston and full faced seal. The rifle was super accurate to begin with but now its super smooth to shoot. I average 730 fps with crosman 14.3 hollows. So yup tuning a gun makes a huge difference!!👍👍

      Honning is part of the process to make sure there are no burrs or sharp edges especially when you are replacing the piston seal. When the rifles are mass produced often the little details are overlooked, especially on the less expensive rifles. So a good tune should include the honning of the piston chamber. Thanks again for tuning in👍

I sell a few things which maintains the expense of keeping the channel going. You can compare the two by just watching each video. The advantage to the G2 is the magazine, the Ruger is a smoother shooter, less recoil but this was also upgraded with the PG2 kit. They are both great rifles. Thank you for your support and I am glad you are enjoying the Bipod kit👍😉

    I enjoyed your video. I love bang for buck finds. I have a ruger air magnum as well and was a little disappointed with accuracy out of the box. I opened it up and found a number of little metal curlies in-bedded in the seal. I cleaned the sleeve and put a new seal on and the numbers smoothed right out. Mine seems to like 14-16 grain pellets best. It does well with destroyers and the gamo red tipped ones. The best I've tried are the H&N sport FTT. With good pellets it is capable of 1"- 1 1/4" groups at 40 yds. ps I also upgraded the scope.

    Looking to get a pellet gun to round out my collection...appreciate the great review! Thinking this'll be what I go with.
    I will say I'm surprised at the short distances everyone seems to expect out of pellet rifles. As an airsoft sniper, I'm used to hitting [human] targets at 250-300ft even with wind, so I was expecting that range to be typical for a pellet gun too.

    • @dwmaddawgs
      @dwmaddawgs Před rokem

      A human target is about 50 times the cross section of the typical pellet gun target 😅. At that distance we could still hit a tennis ball, but couldn't make repeated humane takedowns. Also the small weight doesn't maintain speed for impact on target even if it's hit.
      That's why most people don't worry about that distance, but could still hit smaller than any airsoft I've ever seen.

    Good review of a project gun if one can get it for under $100 and specifically in .22. This gun in .177 and .25 is not worth the money and effort of tuning - the stock is made of cheap thin and hollow plastic and the fit to the platform is rustic at best. The major fault I have found with this Ruger Mag even on .22 is that it is super sensitive to the hold , that being because the platform is too heavy for the cheap stock. Another problem is droop , one has to find a good scope and mounts to deal with this problem. The fact that you have a bipod mounted on it an that it shoots well is exceptionally lucky. My gun shoots reasonably well in 22 but it has to be from a rest position on a good sandbag - as for shooting it off hand for hunting it’s a nightmare - too big , too long and too heavy. The trigger as you well say is clone / copy of the Diana TO5 but it hurts to even mention Diana in the same sentence with this gun. I would advise anyone that is not accustomed to tuning springer air rifles to steer away from this gun , it is a puzzle of a project gun and you don’t want to spend more on the icing than on the cake. The B28 in 22 with its wood stock is much better gun , never as good as the Diana 350 mag 22 but it will do the job well at 20 to forty yard ranges. If you happen to buy a Ruger Mag in 177 don’t waste good money and time on it , use it as a fence post- MHO. Thank you for your good video reviews.

      @greg6162 Před 3 lety

      For around $120 for a magnum break barrel it seems a little over critical. All I’m saying is if you want better accuracy magnum breakers are definitely going going to make shooting accurately little more difficult than a sub 20FPE. I just got a Hatsan 125 Vortex Camo a few days ago and it is close to 10lbs out of the box. Now my groups have been varying, but I was stacking pellets at 17yds with less than 150rds through it. I adjusted the trigger and my group consistency has improved even more, but keep in mind it takes about 500 pellets before you should judge a breaker’s accuracy. My Gamo Swarm Whisper 10x was the same way. Just terrible (I almost retuned it)... shooting all over the place, but after 400-500 shots and a $43 Pinty 3x9 (BugBuster clone) scope I can hit a quarter 4/5 times with it at 20yds. Now the Hatsan Magnums are 2-3 time the price of this Ruger and it still suffers some of the same issues you specify... very lengthy, stocks too long for good eye relief and it’s loud (no moderator with this model) probably because it’s still dieseling, but in time it will settle a little. Just understand that there will be a trade off with ease of use for magnum power in breakers. My Hatsan is averaging 28FPE and the lowest I Chrony’d it with any pellet was 27FPE. I just put a UTG (no clone this time) 3x9-40 IR True Hunter scope and I only put maybe 20-30 through her today and she’s shooting all over. Some is user error and some is it just isn’t broken in yet and most importantly I’m not used to it yet. You think you got it sited and then it jumps all over again. But until I put at least 400-500 through the barrel (I’m aware Hatsan is known to have some QC issues) I won’t blame the gun just yet. Just understand, Magnums are very hard on scopes and shooters alike with the power they produce and require to cock. If after 500rds it’s still not grouping then it could be the gun and I would contact the manufacturer. I almost did with my Gamo but now it shoots like a dream for a 16FPE breaker with a 10 shot mag. This is just my experience but YMMV. Don’t give up and remember practice makes perfect.

    I really like what you did to replace the front sight. I know it takes away iron sight capability and forces you to go to scopes but it really looks impressive. I have this rifle in .177 and the scope that came with it was destroyed by the recoil of this powerful springer. I never replaced it and just used the sights that came with it. I would really like to get that same look for my ruger magnum if you can help me out with some info of how to get the muzzle attachment and any installation advice you might have.

    Good day, sir. This is a great video presentation for this rifle. It shows the reason why more should get this rifle. I wish it was available here. "good gun to great gun" indeed! Speaking of great guns, I would like to ask you a few questions. Around 2011, I bought a GAMO SOCOM TACTICAL Break Barrel in .22 cal.. Its a good gun. For some reason, GAMO phased it out. They don't manufacture it anymore. I also wonder why there are only a few reviews on it - most of which are 6 years old.. My questions:
    1. How do I tune it?
    2. Can I replace the spring with a gas piston?
    3. If yes to no. 2, what gas piston would you recommen?
    Thank you

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  Před 4 lety +1

      Poch...yes you can tune that rifle and you could replace the spring or possibly get a gas piston. You will have to research the net to find the parts. All as you need is a breech seal, a piston seal, the new spring or gas piston. You also need a way to compress the spring and remove it from the rifle. You will need a clamp or compression tool. You also need to be mechanically inclined. I will do a video sometime this summer.👍

      I have binged on your videos for the last few days and have watched nearly all of your videos except maybe a dozen. So last night I decided to watch from the beginning. Before you start selling your collection on line, please let me know what you want to sell. I might be interested.
      Me and my family are moving back to the States after Malaysia gets over the lockdown and the US is safe to return to.
      I haven't hunted in about ten years, if you don't count rat pesting. My last hunting trip was unsuccessful. I spent four days stalking,and it rained the whole time. The last day, as I was packing up, I saw a ten or twelve point in the open as the sun was going down. I had already put away my bow and arrows, and they were in the cab of my truck behind the rest of my gear. I had one boot on and I was about two hundred yards away. Oh well. C'est la vie.
      I have been planning on teaching my kids to hunt and stalk, mostly just showing them signs of traffic along paths, how they can find different game, and their habitats, and have spent some time with them doing some trigger discipline and target practice with NERF guns. Here in Malaysia airsoft, bb guns, and pellet guns are illegal.
      When people ask me about "gun nuts" and the second amendment they are surprised to know I am a "gun nut."
      Can't wait to give my kids their own 1077s. Once they get their trigger time in I'll move them up to 1322's and 2400kt's before we go to break barrels and PCP's. Watching your videos has been a pleasure. Keep them coming!
      Stay safe, be well, and God bless!

    Great review as always. I was surprised to read it is a replica of the Diana 350 Magnum--do you mean relabeled or literally the action was duplicated by another maker, Umarexusa in this case? What a bargain this is--I paid 3 times the price 10 years ago (no scope included). Replaced the spring with a bigger one with plastic sleeve like you did. Definitely smoother but less powerful than yours. Get 860 fps with 14.3 Crossman Premier HP's for a little over 23fpe. Get a five shot same hole group at 25 yds. Used to like Beeman Trophy 14.7's but no more for some reason, 2-3" at 25 yds. Tried the heavier JSB Match Hades 15.89 and they flew all over, 3-4" at 25 yds!! But same fpe as the Premier HP. Currently doing iguana disposal for our condo association and all shots within 35-40 yds so accuracy is most important (dime size kill zone). Any idea whether the stock is interchangeable? Thanks again.

      Hi Michael, this is basically a Chinese copy of the 350. Not rebranded but a copy and licensed through Umarex. The Xisico XS28 is the same rifle as the Ruger but it comes in a wooden stock. I ordered the .25 caliber through Flying Dragon Air Rifles and I am having Mike do the full tune. I hope to feature a review on it in the not too distant future.
