- **Before trying this, make sure that the luggage compartment lever in the trunk is set to the correct position. The luggage compartment lever is the most common reason the roof won't go up**
This video will show you how to manually put the top on of a 2004 BMW 325ci. I made this video because i could not find a solid video explaining how to do this when i needed it.
1:45 Turn the Allen key COUNTERCLOCKWISE (to the right)

You saved me. I was driving to work, I put my top down and heard click click click at the end. Button was flashing red, and it was a oh no moment. Got to work found your video and followed your procedure. Got some funny looks in the car park but it was worth it. Later that day it started to rain. You save my ass.
Same problem on my car this evening. Top down, click, click sound from back side and button was lighting red. This video help me. Do you have still problem after this?

This video really helped got my soft top system got stuck while opening and system wasn’t working anymore so I use the video trick to close it completely then the system started to work again

Thanks Jason For The Excellent Instructions. The Top on mine is from the Dark side.It stopped working,Fluids good,Fuse is good.Checking Wireing Harness over drivers side next. Cannot get the top to Manually tighten up in the Front will not tighten to close.Also cannot get rear window to raise to put Back panel Down . Red light flashing on open and close convertible top button.Is there a relay that could be the issue if the wiring harness wires are not severed. Thanks Very Much

Great video. I am looking for some help with replacing just the convertible top cover. It was vandalized. Everything else is in working order. Not sure the best place to buy the replacement cover and install. I have a 2004 330ci. Any recommendations or videos would be great. Thanks!

Jason...Thanks, you got me to third base on my wife's Black Beauty 2001 325Ci! Top is down and not responding. You showed how to get me to near the end, but the 2001 does not have an Allen wrench crank hole where I see it in your great video for the 2004. Any ideas on where I can find the right opening on the 2001? Thanks again! Joe

We have to give BMW credit when it's due, this is an amazing feature. Most convertibles with electric roofs get totaled when the roof stops working because they can't be manually opened and you can't get parts for them... but not this one!

So one of the cables broke On the motor under the rear seats. When I try and lift it up it cracked the plastic on the upper corners and it wouldn’t let me lift it up all the way. Have you had any problems like this

I have a 2000 323CI and the roof is semi automatic. The lock for the roof cover open but it won’t lock ( I replace the lock mechanism once before) what could I do to get it to work???
Thanks this video helper so much. My 2003 has just started having problems with the automatic roof. It got stuck closing and got stuck opening the button just flashes. I need to find out why

FYI there is no need to remove the back seats. The loose flappy part of the back seat under the console piece comes off. It sits on a bar so just remove it from the bar.
Need help! Mine won’t close at the end with the Allen key. However when I push the open and close buttons the place where to put the Allen key spins! What to do?
When I put my tap down automatically everything looks good but it won’t grab at that last little quarter of an inch. I don’t know what to do. If you drive with it that way the dong sound continues in a red light on the instrument panel clothes. Any ideas? Maybe I should take out the backseat and try to crank that

Jason, I did this and the right side it tight. Left side did not latch all the way and now the wheel seems ( feels) like it is stripped. Ever had any experience with this and is there a way to navigate the small crank to engage it?

Love the video! quick question, I can get my top to the 2:40 mark in the video where the rear window drops but then it's impossible to pull the front part down to the windshield as if it is stuck on something. I've tried pushing extremely hard but it just won't close any more than how it looks at the 2:53 mark. Any ideas? Thanks!

I tried but the rear compartment does not open, I tried to turn the alien key a lot and now I think I broke something inside I am not able to close, can someone help me?
Since my auto roof stopped working my car has been on manual and is closed. If I now want to open it (using the method in your previous video) do I have to remove the seats each time I want to take the roof up or down? Isn't it off and cant I just keep the allen key up front for such use to take it off?
In my experience, yes you would have to remove the seat every time you want to do this. You can keep the Allen key in a handy place; that’s what I did.

@@joseph_the_human from what I know I think that after you drive a little bit, the car detects you are moving and closes it automatically. Or after you finish all the steps he said, press the roof lock button and probably it will close it as a last step. Try it

I'm looking for the removal of the top
I have an e46 m3 vert. I’m trying to open the top, and that screw keeps on coming out completely when turning it to the left to loosen it. Any thoughts?
Gear is stripped, needs to be changed
The manual stop point is stripped..when the screw goes beyond the set stopping point…the screw will come out an additional 12-24mm or 1/4 to half inch..right before that happens…stop there and push up…the top should be able to be pushed open..put a piece of tape over the hole.. so you do not loose the screw as you lower or raise the top…my advice..

Happened to me. You aren’t supposed to be removing your top at all unless it’s for repair purposes, because when you do it manually your latches will lose tension (again, happened to me) and now the top is just open enough to bring in a little bit of water. To sum it up, you need new latches
So how to return it back ?
