Steve Burke of GamersNexus Reacts To Their Top 1000 Comments On CZcams | Ars Technica - Hry
I'm so impressed with your editors. The Ars team had great questions and I talked a lot, so I felt a little bad knowing how much editing would be required to cut it down. Really great work by the team to make me sound like I knew what I was talking about, haha. Thanks so much for having me. Very enjoyable and great team making these videos.
The pleasure was all ours, thank you for the kind words!
Love your content Steve, even if .. ( all jokes aside ) I listen to your videos to fall asleep
When you play "Interview Steve", the "verbose" command is invoked by default.
There was one question missing: When did you stop playing games?
@@headmd when gpus went out of stock indefinitely
It’s weird seeing Steve at 30FPS
Cinematic Steve
*24fps
Wait I thought it was 24fps wtf
haha true. I could still get used to it though lol
I was wondering why it was so choppy.
This can’t be the real Gamers Nexus Steve, there was not a single chart or graph in the whole video
Next week on GN: The Ars Technica Interview Review. That will have a full complement of charts and graphs.
You can see here, there is a 99% decrease in graphs and charts. This is disappointing since the last iteration of GamersNexus also had a 100% higher fps.
Tech Jesus and Ars Technica. Somebody catch my fall.
Not a single mention of GN's most illustrious staffer Beve Sturke.
Don't forget Snowflake
Sbeve
Or the group of Patrick's
You forgot Patrick Patrick, Chief Patrick Officer and Patrick in Chief
@@sharath2273 i hope it's not that horrible cat. i hate this new "fashion" having disgusting cats in the videos.
Love how he casually flipped that liquid nitrogen bottle
1 year+ late reply lol but it is fr so satisfying
How long would the video be if he actually answered 1000 questions? I want that edit 😄
Hmm. It would take Linus about 45 minutes to answer 1000 questions. Steve, we're looking at a full season.
Steve is a wonderful mix of entertaining and brutely honest. You can always have faith that GamersNexus is being truthful.
I love the things he says, I only wish it were more succinct.
Oh, what! Just casually watching this and suddenly see my name up on the screen! Did a double take, had to go find the video and check if it was in fact me and there I am. What a small world!
You telling me you still have your account for that long. Wow nice
@@thomasb1521 Yeah! You can see it here: czcams.com/video/miyliZ1VHoI/video.html
That's so cool
Damn, that’s actually awesome. Get this fellow a Barmat.
Love to see other people who keep up their old channel/names!
So cool to see the old comments
5:33 hey that's me! Ars X GN is a godsend, big fan of you both!
Don't forget to subscribe to Steve's channel called Gamers Nexus if you haven't already. I learned a lot from his channel that gave me enough confidence to build my own custom DIY Gaming PC.
He also has a side channel GNSteve with behind the scenes and discussing topics while mountain biking, also worth checking out!
Yep the front i/o panel pins were the worst part of my build experience that i just did. I wish they came with a socketed connection style. Side note it was my first full build. This channel is super useful for tech and build info, you definitely present info in a very understandable way.
Right? And then I watch Linus just casually plugging the front connectors in without even looking when he does livestream builds.
ASUS used to have something called a Q connector block with some motherboards you could plug everything onto and then plug onto the board. It's probably because of patents or something but it's only gotten less common instead of standardized and it's just sad.
Plugging in those little fiddly IO panel connectors suck yes, but more so mobo BACKPLATES are always the bane of my builds....
@@Discostick55 yea the rear shield wasnt much better lol
Even on other channel, Steve still maintain the video length for almost half an hour. He's really true to himself.
As someone who works with LOX (liquid oxygen) that opening scene scared me so bad... Until it clicked that it was Nitrogen
Why did it scare you? I know it’s hella cold but it shouldn’t react to anything right? Unless it touches an open flame or something obviously
@@ryanwallace983 I think When LOX boils off it has a severe risk of aerosolizing oils on any given surface and can spontaneously go big bang.
Japanese WW2 torpedos used LOX where a big risk from it
Oh God, the framing is different. It's so weird.
I was wondering what was bothering me about this and I think you found it.
and 24 fps instead of 60. That i found weirder xD
And somehow this doesn't look 1080p at all?
No matter your build : you have incorrect paste and incorrect cooler placement. - Internet Wisdom
No paste, gonna explode. Tiny paste, gonna explode. Incrementally add .001 grams of paste, gonna explode. Slightly larger than a grain of rice, WHY YOU SLATHERING IT ON ITS GONNA PAINT THE MOTHERBOARD AND SHORT THE KEYBOARD!
I've started using a spreader for paste. Not for any performance or efficiency reasons at all, simply because at this point the only difference made is before the cold plate touches the IHS. So I justify it by saying "it's art" and I make it pretty for the 3 seconds before it gets smushed up. The only difference is when cleaning it off I get no mess down the side of the cpu and am sure about even coverage.
Well I always hear people say “less is more” so I just don’t use any

Me: Ah, Steve's decided to start making shorter videos!
Yo Steve on Ars Technica! Awesome!
I remember several years ago I watched my first GN video and realized "wow, this guy is actually going into detail here". Unfortunately Steve tends to talk really really fast and for someone, who isn't a native speaker such as me, it's difficult to follow, especially if lots of numbers are involved. Fortunately my English improved over the years and I am now able to follow... most of the time at least. Keep up the good work, Steve. 🙂
Yea and then you’ll learn more English from it. That happened to me with TotalBiscuit years ago.
Did you ever watch in slow speed?
exactly! I really had a tough time many years ago, but know I'm capable of falling asleep while watching a good-night-tech-review
Dude, I'm a native English speaker, and the amount of times, the info goes over my head is OFTEN. But I will watch, cuz it's interesting. Keep plugging away.
You should try setting the video playback speed to 0.75.
Been around since Steve's gamer/scattered thoughts videos days.
It's so interesting to see what's come of him vs LTT, Austin, and MKB (the main "tech" channels I've watched over the many years).
Steve's commitment to long format, detail oriented, technical videos has carved out and grown such a strong trust that even LTT has only just now come into with the addition, and built-up trust, of Anthony.
It doesn't hurt that he has such a strong name. c:
Anthony and Madison are the only likable people on LTT videos, everyone else comes across as cringey wanna be rays of sunshine. I especially hate James and Riley.
I still appreciate LTT, plenty of quality uploads, but the bulk feels like uploads for the sake of maintaining the schedule. With increasingly less genuine scripts.
Probably a necessity to maintain a channel that big, happens with streamers/gamers too where it starts feeling like network TV
Didn't expect this but it's freaking awesome
I think the thermal paste thumbnail was the very first GN related thing I saw. I thought "holy crap, it's the PC hardware mythbusters!" Have not been disappointed since lmao
Favorite GN moment: during the new office vlog, there was a time-lapse of the GN crew moving in, set to an ambience of Age of Empires builder sounds :D
Got to love Steve for that massive LN2 flex at the beginning. 🤣🤣🤣
Steve is a treasure. Will tell you the absolute objective truth about a product without fear of losing sponsorships or review units. Will rip apart the people selling lies *while speaking to them*, like with ThermalTake. We need more reviewers like him.
The title is kind of misleading but as an interview this was very good and a lot of fun to watch.
Yay Steve!!
So great to see Steve having fun. We need more of this on your channel!
Enjoyed seeing Steve on a different channel, he seems more relaxed / chill.
Great piece. Gamers Nexus really blew up in such a short amount of time, I remember subscribing around the 150K mark
Great video! Loved it! Steve is such a humble guy and it really shows here.
I don't understand why the solution NZXT came up with for connecting the front panel connectors isn't standard at this point.
Really Awesome Stuff Ars Technica Wonderfully Edited!
I've been watching GN for a few years now, people say he is boring but Steve is just a in-depth and detailed reviewer. we're very lucky to have him. Plus he shreds
Love that Steve did one of these!
Yesss the crossover I was waiting for!
I'm so glad I checked the new video's, I just watched the LTT video and now GN!
I can't speak for those who've been here since 5k subs, but your videos on hardware have been very useful in educating many, teaching how to throw a pc together, and what parts are even worth it. I built my first pc due to the guides and techniques shown on your channel. Thanks for doing the best work in the computer segment, and thank LTT for a segue into to your channel, instead of a sponsor, for once.
Love you and your content, Steeve! Keep it up :)
Keeping it real! Thank you
Absolutely love these Wired/Buzzfeed/Vanity Fair style videos and it's so awesome that someone is doing it for TechTubers.
Imagine making a video for GN in less then 4k 60fps... Wouldn't be me.
16:52 The fan will twitch every now and then to let you know “hey, I’m a fan and I’m alive’”.
A bit like watching Sunderland AFC really.
hehe, i got that joke.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
I am so happy to have a surprise like this show up on my CZcams page.
This video is awesome. Thank you.
Finding Steve on another channel feels weird...
20:04 "senior AMD analyst" - lmao!!!!
this was such an insightful piece. thanks AT & GN Teams
Great to see our very own tech Jesus being showcased. Nice job on the editing to the team at Ars.
First video of their’s I ever watched was about the 960 memory buffer, maxwell’s original 960 had 2g and I think 2 months after they made a 4g and I remember watching that video over and over to understand what’s going on. They’re always so thorough and witty. Love them.
Great vid, supped. I see you have more like this that I'm going to watch!
Epic crossover!!!!!
On the front panel headers, I love that some board makers put in a sled that you connect everything to, then insert it right onto the header, already in proper placement
Woah, a bonus GamersNexus video on a separate subscribed channel? What a lovely day!
Really fun video!
You look so happy, Steve.
My favorite video is the one reacting to OUT OF THE BOX THERMALS! I just died laughing and can watch it over and over 🤣
Awesome video 👌
The man, the hair, the legend
About the whole AIO orientation thing, i think you've made a great service to the community by pointing this out. I myself never wanted to use an AIO for cpu because well i don't really overclock my cpu and any noctua tower has done a great job for me up until today so i basically never wanted to pay more money for a few degrees less and also worry about leaks etc. But i also never thought about how to apply an AIO. If a friend of mine had asked me to build his pc with an AIO, i could've done a terrible job only because i would never think that there'd be an air bubble in it. Anyways thanks to you now i know that and i'll not do a terrible job. As long as the cpu is under the radiator or the application of the tubing is a long flat line on top (not sure that's achievable with aio's but that'd probably be the best case scenario.) It's gonna be fine.
Thanks, Steve!
It's funny that you talk about the disconnect with pump orientation because I came *this* close to making a comment like that on a PC build video I saw...but when I thought about it I realized that I was remembering it backwards. haha!
Interesting video! 👍
I'm following the channel since the H500P review, it's crazy that already 3 years have passed
I found the videos Steve made in his house where he walked from room to room showing what they were testing a little chaotic but they had a gorilla-tech feel. In the first set, where they built the wood wall, the quality and format of the videos improved a lot plus there were cat cameos! The newest videos are different but everything has a purpose now. The live videos are usually a lot of fun and the interactions with other TechTubers is priceless.
Gamersnexus , Steve and the team,
They are the best, the best channel.
Can't believe that they have so few subs. Regardless, that doesn't change anything, we still get top grade videos, from the best channel in YT!!!
Thanks GN keep it up!
I can’t think about the PC space on CZcams or what it would be like without GN. Such a staple. Awesome!
thank you Steve, very cool.

What a LEGEND Steve is!!!
Cinematic Steve
Very nice, have a sub for your efforts
Can't thank yoh enough for your Article in 2012 About how GPUs function 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳
Thank you google this is a video I wanted to see
Steve is amazing
i liked the way he says the olny thing that is challenging is the front panel connector
Steve your a f&cking rock star! Sending love from Canada
I totally forgot about Snowflake the Senior AMD Anaylst Cat .. good stuff! 07
Ars, are you just going through my subscriber list and releasing videos of everyone I watch? I joked with someone yesterday about it since MVG had a spot, but now GN? If Jay is next I'm gonna be thinking something is sus
@ 19:23 - The video overlay of the pegboard is not the old "wood wall set" he speaks of. He means this: ibb.co/NLgZBz8
Amazing picture of Steve there :D
@@headmd A very fortunate freeze frame 🤭
Lmao
All pray be seated for our Lord, Tech Jesus™️
Steve and Ars 🙌
Here after HW News!
Next we need an interview with Beve Sturke.
Jay even made a video about the AIO mounting.
Omg i never expected Steve to be here lmao !!
This was actually quite nice.
4K viewer, so did notice video quality. But did not actually realise it wasn't Gamers Nexus..
Great to see the flashbacks and the all around video comments. Some of the best information on any release day. Well deserved Steve.
Another long time reader of the GN website found from the OG Anandtech bulletin board days.
So after seeing this video, I went back and searched the oldest video of gamers nexus I have watched and it has the title: "What is Tessellation ?" from 2015. Interesting that's the time where switched from console to pc. I have been building PCs as a side job from high school till the end of my engineering degree, but I wasn't really into gaming PCs before 2015, so this channel is like perfect, since it concentrates on hardware, but also covers the gaming related stuff like fps, frame time and effects like ray tracing.
OMG that 2014 hair!!
Nice!
Me: oh a video from ars with steve, who has the same kind of hair as me
CZcams: plays hair straightener ad before the video
STEEEEEVE! Welcome !
been here since less then 100k subs
heavy, bro...
for thermal paste i always do a hammer and sickle so all cores have equal temperature
I pile it up in a pyramid and try to remove the bottom part.
Who needs filthy lower paste.
It touches the processor... ehwww
I miss having 4k as an option like there always is on Steve's uploads. Thought at first that Steve had a bad hair day. ;-)
If you're interested in buying a certain part, say, a cooler, a chassis, take a look at his channel, he's one of the best out there, even if he talks a lot lmao, and he's not afraid of burning bridges, which is important when you review general consumer products. Great channel.
Steve is so modest he didn't even link to this video in the description of his video :P
If you look closely, you can see a streaking moth @ 20:55
EDIT: Also, great video! Thanks Ars Technica and GN!
I'm on the ride since 2k subs, different account though
Steve is the best!!!
