Martin Freeman Makes Conan Do His Terrible British Accent | CONAN on TBS / teamcoco - Komedie
The less comfortable Conan is, the better the video is.
VisseNekku
czcams.com/video/mzT3cj_biwA/video.html
VisseNekku hell yeah. That’s why the Goldblum videos are golden
It doesn’t seem like that happens much, he like leans into it and likes the comedy of that.
hahaa that is so true
Why is that?
Martin Freeman’s face hasn’t aged since 2001 but his hair has aged 30 years. He rocks it tho
Josh Hunt ikr
he is 49 years old now, isn't he ?
@@paninikin7542 oh right
same as conan
Wow, he looks like 80
Marvel better let Agent Ross interact with Dr Strange.
Sy A they already did the baker street thing in thor ragnarok so it could happen
you know that one is in the cards
damn great idea
I would like to see a Mrs. Hudson cameo.
Of course. Without Mrs. Hudson, London would fall!
This was such a genuine conversation. Like a group of friends just hanging out :D
yes i was just about to type that.... it was so authentic
Yes sir. me too was going to type the same sentence until I found yours. theirs is a authentic banter between friends
basically you've described every single Graham Norton Show episode
mysterychemistry Agreed. I don't know why people in the comments are saying he's douchy and edgy.
They should do this more often. It should be standard to have two guests at the couch for conan. Maybe not the whole time but - one guest comes out, then talk...second guest comes out and the other guest stays at the couch - would be awesome. Not like the other talkshows.
Actually, the best American accent done by a British actor was Hugh Laurie's "Dr. House"...
I mean come on! The guy did a scene where he acts like an American mimicking British accent! And he NAILED IT! You have to see it (as I remember, the scene was House calling a British doctor, I think).
Baraa Khalaf agreed
True!
I don't even think his is that good.
Baraa Khalaf Hugh Laurie and Benedict Cumberbach have identical American accents, it's scary. Just listen to him in Doctor Strange.
I actually didn't know Laurie was British, he fooled me well
My mom just came into the room and asked "Oh my gosh, is that Ellen?"
oh my gosh? are you from nebraska or connecticut?
Well, I always thought Ellen and Martin had some explaining to do. This confirms it!!!
Oh dear...
lmfao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"oi'll pick your pocket, i will, i will."
@rudy2fat YESSSS 😂🤣
This popped exactly when Conan did the bit 😂
I’m just gonna say, Martin’s American accents scare the life out of me purely because it’s unnatural how this man who breathes John Watson can do an amazing American accent.
He has some decidedly British ways of moving his mouth, but yes the sound is American
Conan can't even do an Irish accent, he does it like a leprechaun who found Taytos instead of gold
TEEEYYTOOS
Taaaaaaaaaaaaaaytooooooooos!
He usually says "tayterrs," no?
George Hamilton in the episode where Conan visits an Irish cultural center, he meets a lady that works in the gift shop that sells Taaaaaaytooos brand potato chips.
I just got flashbacks to when Conan was singing Happy Birthday at Sylvia's
He plays nice characters but there is always something shady about them...
There is definitely something shady about Martin. I suppose it's because he's an actor and is professional in deceiving people.
@@MoonwalkerWorshiper doesn't help that he's a very good actor either.
A snake in the grass lol
I may misperceive that, but Martin Freeman almost all the time seems kind of annoyed, or bored to me. Not in a bad way, just as if everything feels slow to him & people should talk faster etc. . I don't know how to explain it.
Also maybe like he's hiding something, but that may be just him acting off-screen. "To be an actor" doesn't always have to be a particularly good thing. As a professional career it's awesome, but not in your personal life. It's like betraying yourself.
Anyone else perceives his manner that way?
@@linneamariequentin8216 Not sure, but I love the way you think
@@linneamariequentin8216 interesting you should say that because i felt that for the longest time but never really found the words for it. i always thought he was quite acerbic and dry, being initially a comedy actor and all.
I like how Andy just stares at them
leonthesleepy That‘s his job
I duno what purpose andy serves frankly, he sits there in a suit says little gets his pay cheque and goes home, easy money
Andy is important you meanies
@@Losrandir just because hes a cult fave with fans doesn't mean hes necessary...
@@Losrandir Literally just an average joe who makes jokes sometimes. Never understood why he's sitting there instead of someone interesting, like Schlansky.
Office, Marvel, Hobbit, Sherlock you could say that I'm a fan of Martin
Man watch Fargo season 1 it's just the best
And of course his most critically acclaimed role as Ricky C in Ali G Indahouse.
I forgot about that role and I love Cohen's films.
And the cornetto trilogy
The Cohen brothers didn't make the Fargo series.
''Conan we're talking'' my god that bit got me good.
His American accent in the Black Panther film weirded me out. It was spot on.
Yeah, when any other nationality apart from the English try and do an English accent....it’s just cringe
@Krok Krok in the United States there are different regional accents. The same applies to England.
@@454aubrey that's what kinda bothers me when people say "American" accent. The accents and cultures between someone from Brooklyn in New York City and someone from Dallas, Texas are worlds apart.
WhoDarestheMAN gamer there’s actually a lot of nuance. If you truly did just pronounce R’s, you’d sound Irish or Bristolian. The right intonation, vowel sounds, mouth placement and many other factors are needed to even do a basic American accent. Plus, even more is needed for regional US accents. Take a Wisconsin accent vs a New York Polish accent, or a rural Louisiana accent, or Northern California, Missouri, or New England. It’s actually way more complicated than one might think.
It was a good “neutral” American accent
When I saw the thumbnail I knew Conan was gonna do his chimney sweep accent
and then he did
His Liverpool accent at 3:24 wasn't that bad - at least he didn't do Cockney or Prince Charles
5:42 Martin's reaction is priceless!
Freeman feels very genuine and down to earth. It´s refreshing
It really didn't feel scripted. It all felt like they didn't even rehearse it once. And yet it was funny. This is why I love Conan.
LEVI Exactly
LEVI lol yea I think they were supposed to be talking about black panther
4:14
Thanks to Kevin for that.
You said; it wasn't even rehearsed and yet it was funny" which should be; it wasn't even rehearsed and that is why it was funny."
Oh man, the Beatles impression-off was fantastic.
Martin Freeman is the British Jason Bateman.
Sy A I've thought of that too!
Really accurate description, actually
That's true
On the surface you're absolutely right.Though I kinda feel Bateman is a better dude and less full of himself.
Stondexx Martin Freeman isn't full of himself, he's just British. We tend to be quite dry with our humour and less enthusiastic about the world in general 😂
Older Martin Freeman is too good for mankind. Dear Lord he's getting hotter.
I know right?!
It happens with men. We don't have a biological brick wall of ugly we hit at 30.
@@slyguythreeonetwonine3172
You think all women after 30 are ugly? How strange
Well, I just „discover” Martin recently and I really think that the older he gets the hotter he is 😅 Good someone else also notice it
@ST H It's funny how fame and talent can make men confident, which in turn makes them hot for women.
His character in Fargo had the best roller coaster development I've ever seen. If you didn't watch, then go!
Tony, The Stark I don’t understand why everyone is calling if Fargo because in Australia it’s Cargo!
Hannah Wilkinson it’s only cargo if it’s shipped by car. If you’re shipping it far away, it becomes Fargo.
Walter white??
Martin's face when Conan said the second sentence was priceless👏😭😂
You can't love Martin enough, what a brilliant, talented, funny, charismatic person he is, God I love him
The funniest thing is Conan could totally do the accent if he tried. He's just having some fun.
djlobb lol
Which one? Cockney? Estuary? Scouse (Liverpool) Manchester? Brummie (Birmingham) Geordie (Newcastle upon Tyne, the most extreme English accent)? Cornwall (basically Pirate)? Devon? Somerset (Zomerzett)?Yorkshire, Lancashire? And all the places in between. And remember, all these places have subdivisions of accents, Liverpool has at least four differing versions of Scouse, probably more.
@@SvenTviking Yes.
I would be amazed if he could do anything approaching a decent attempt at any one of the English accents.
SvenTviking greater Manchester accents are quite nice not Manc like Rochdale and Oldham accent its a mix between Yorkshire and Lancashire like example they pronounce Milnrow as Milnra I personally like Yorkshire accent therefore I prefer northern accents though
"I'm so happy to alive I am I am"
lol
These 3 guys should do a podcast together! What awesome chemistry.
That moments Martin transformed into John Lennon. So smooth, he didn't even try
god i love Martin! They forgot to mention his fantastic work in BBCs Sherlock :/
fangirling out loud those bastards! How are we gonna live with ourselves?
I mean it's not like its never been brought up before lmao. Martin seems like if he heard someone mention BBC Sherlock, he'd do an inward "oh here we go"
Youssef Dirani exacly! How dare they
Clare yep, but still XD
fangirling out loud this is a 6 minute video.
This might be the closest an American talk show has got to the relaxed and casual chat you see on the Graham Norton show. Wonderful and fun.
Because of Sherlock I associate Martin Freeman not with being nice, but rather "polite but capably snarky." Which is so very British.
"polite but capably snarky" - love this!
Agent Ross and Strange :
" Ross : I feel like I know you
Strange : You do.
Ross : How, I've never met you before ?
Strange : In another dimension we're partners who solve crimes "
Ross: seems like a stretch.
Dr strange: you were never really the observant one, where you, Watson?
Ross: what?
Strange: nothing.
Well the multiverse exists now.
@@madiholly1192 yes lol that would be hilarious
I wanted Strange and RDj to go at it
Such a genuine conversation they had. Martin seems like such a pleasant person.
I like how Kevin Nealon interrupts Conan and I'm thinking oh what's he gonna say and then he praises Martin for Fargo and I'm like I love you Kevin.
Amazing interview as always! Conan is the best 😂
Martin Freeman has this incredibly witty and fun sense of humour that is hard to grasp at first but once you got it you realized this man’s funny as hell.
That look on Martin's face when he heard Conan is priceless.
This may be my favourite interview clip of all time. Me watching it for tge 100th time in 2020 is saying something. I love conan.
He's awesome, the interview is great, good job Conan.
5:54
“then I’ll pick your pocket I will I will” 😂
I love the double’s at the end
“so happy to be alive I am I am”
Core Blimey! He pinched Martin's 'ankerchief! He oughtta wollop him!
Joshua Rowe Eekkgadd! Bullocks mate!
No need to get ye knickas in a twirl!
Get on with it!
He's havin' a bath if he thinks he's half inchin' that.
I'm love Martine Freeman, he is one of the most understated actors out here, yet constantly surmise people when he nails parts or leas franchise! Cargo, the office, the hobbit, Sherlock. Sherlock alone deserves kudos being that him and Mark gatiss starred (mark gatiss was one of the lads behind the league if gentlemen, say no more). Rant over, Martin is and will do ever be a legend, AND a pub quiz legend according to Gervais haha
This clip is amazing! It's so authentic
“I’m hiding it very well cause that’s my job” the honesty lmao
5:51 It almost killed me!!!! Conan still does that!!!
"Me, Kenneth Branagh and Hugh grant were back there doing that..and Idris Elba came out" The sight would be very bizarrely funny isn't it?
When I first looked at the thumbnail I thought that Conan was Interviewing Ellen.
MicroApp bloody hell! I thought I'm the only one thinking about that..lol
hahahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
MicroApp ok
MicroApp Ahhhhh Damn 😂
I love him. He is amazing.
Very atmospheric background, I like it, not your typical talk show backdrop.
IrishBard ...it’s a lovely foto of the Burbank Studios (Warner Bros.) lot, right outside of where they tape the show, if I’m not mistaken.
Id say its lovely and warm there ha!
It's so depressing!
Well no, you might call it depressing, but your simply making a projection, the word is not the thing.
Freeman has a new fan. I think I could watch a segment like this for the full hour-long show. This interview was a thing of pure beauty!
5:59 conan!!!!martin was soooo trying not to be angry😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love Conan.Wish they'd show full episodes over here in the UK.
"what a lovely day is to die..." --Conan
IM LAUGHING SO HARD AT THIS THANK YOU SM XD
Lmfaoooooooo
Hahaha Conan sounds like Graham Chapman talking "I am, I am"
This Id why Conan for me is the best night show host, this interview just feels so real and genuine. This is like a bunch of friends talking and pulling each others leg.
Love Andy, just chilling, what a life
When Hollywood inevitably makes a Conan film, Martin Freeman *must* play Jordan Schlansky.
Now that's a genuine interview. Felt like it went off script very soon.
so underrated, one of my favourite actors for sure
Yeah, love Conan.
Martin is so genuine... and I love his smileee...
Conan did so well to turn the awkwardness at the start to an absolutely brilliant interview!
Bilbo.
Edit 1: also I’ve gotta watch Fargo.
Edit 2: I love it when guests stay on the show with other guests.
If you haven't watched Fargo, you're a war criminal. You need to see it now
Yeah, I don't understand why talk shows don't do that more often, like Graham Norton. Corden does it, but he isn't exactly a funny guy imo.
Yeah, on Corden, they're not really interacting most of the time, instead of just answering to questions in the order James presents them. It doesn't feel authentic or adding anything to the show. The atmosphere isn't laid back enough and he certainly ain't no Graham Norton.
They're missing one important component on Corden's show: alcohol.... :D
God bless Graham for constantly plying celebrities with alcohol.
Lol I regularly cry/laughing at Conan when he snatched the pocket square Martin laughed to 🤣👏
"Are you his helper?"
Andy, sitting right next to him: "HEY"
I just love Martin's genuine reaction!
Martin gets fed up of Conan interrupting him at 3:11 then retaliates at 4:12 deliberately interrupting him.
I love him for this, really annoys me when people think what they've got to say is more important than you, so much so, that they cut you off to say what they want to say.
DGeorge Wilko i think you’re reading too much in to this
That clip always makes me smile.
I love this so much. I don’t even know how many times I’ve come back to see it.
Andrew Lincoln and Alfred Enoch have amazing American accents
Marzell Holbrook Most of the time. KOOOOORAAAAL
Don't forget Hugh Lorrie!
Millie Bobby Brown
HUGH LAURIE
Charlie Cox too man
Martin is so awesome! Great actor and person!
conan's laugh is like a diesel engine cold start after 30 years ... i love it ...
3:59 That snap🤣🤣🤣
wha a luvely chap eh lads
Spot o tea please
U avin' a laf?
Luvly jubbly
“Not even the Beatles talk that way”
5:53 Where is that movement from? Please, someone tell me. That movement with the hands. Is from other character?
Liked for Conan snatching back control of the show like a boss🤘🏾
Damien Lewis has the most undetectable American accent ever. His portray of Major Winters in Band of Brothers is amazing and is just topped up by the accent. Also, his portrayal in Homeland was just as good because of his American accent. It took me a while to realise the guy was bloody British (I mean the ginger hair should of sold it).
So true
When he says "What a lovely day it is today" that's a semi-decent accent that sounds like it's from a completely different part of England to the rest of the sentence
My favorite British person doing an American accent is Stephen Graham. For one thing I had no idea he wasn't actually American until I had finished watching Boardwalk Empire where he plays Al Capone. That's happened to me a few other times as well but that one always sticks out in my mind.
OH and Idris Elba, as well. He is mentioned towards the end of this video and that is what reminded me. I had seen all of The Wire and of course he plays Stringer Bell. Had no idea that the actor playing him was British. And now that I think about it the guy who played McNulty is also British. Had no idea.
I could watch this all day, hilarious and authentic.
Martin’s laugh at 5:40 😂😂
I love Martin Freeman! 💜💜
1:51 in _Black Phanter_ and _Fargo_ movies, Martin speaks with American accent, I didn't know he was England before I watch the _Sherloc_ TV series.
wat a great clip! love Martin!
THE SASS MASTER IS IN DA HOUSE!!!!!!!
Andy’s face the whole time... he’s hard to read.
Considering he’s a human being and not a book, I’m not surprised
Fighting over the guest 🤣🤣
when he swoops his hair it looks so gooooood i wish he would do it all the time.
Love Conan’s Victorian British accent! It’s up there with his turn of the century American accent!
I laughed a little too hard at Conans ” ’Ello govnaa! ” i wasn’t prepared for that kinda gold! 😂😂
Omg that chimney sweep impression 😂😂😂😂
Conan sounds like Michael Caine.
"Oi, it's me Michael Caine, I am I am"
Well, he's doing a London accent so it's probably a good thing. As a native Londoner I'd say his accent isn't too bad.
martin great actor !!!!
I love all these guys they crack me up
6:09 whoot! Kennith Branagh shout out! Artemis Gordon!
I've only known there were different kinds of British accents for like 3 years and for some reason I'm allowed to vote.
I love martin freeman 😭❤
That was one of the best late night talk show clips ive seen
I agree with myself from a year ago
Conan just cracks me up. It's been decades now!
Martin ILoveYou
