I got my Sig 2022 .40 back on July 1st 2016, and as of Sep 1st 2017 I have put over 1700 round n the gun is running like the first time that I took it to the range I love my 2022 I'm using Lucas extreme gun oil n Lucas extreme gun grease and it is working great.
I am the exact same as you! I always clean every gun I get new or used.
I replaced my guide rod with a stainless steel guide rod and it works great! Have shot over 500 rounds since replacement without any malfunctions. I highly recommend this replacement to anyone with a 2022.
I have this same pistol only it's completely FDE. Got from a guy off of armslist, traded my TP9SFX for it because I'm more of a DA/SA guy. It's a great pistol. I was really surprised how nice the night sights are.
Had the same initial problems with the slide not locking. Had to adjust my thumb so as not to rest on the slide catch (1911 user). Thought about grinding and buffing it but never did it. I also bought a KPOS from FAB Defense for it. It's an SBR now. Looks pretty cool. Again, thanks for sharing!

Great gun. I have same issue about slide lock/release. I just need to remind myself mentally when I'm using it. I'm 1911 and CZ 75 user. Very good video, sir. Always clean my gun thoroughly before use the first time but not like you do it. I like the way you do the alcohol bath. Thanks for the video in HD.
I have about 3000 rounds through my 2022 and I use it for EP work. Great gun but yeah, you will have to learn how to grip the gun slightly different in order to ensure slide lock with an empty mag.

wow , things have change. i haven’t seen your videos since you were in love with hi points and now your doing reviews on sigs and you said you like glocks, guess i’m going to have to check out your current videos. keep up the good work.
Love my SIG SP 2022 but when I bought mine at Bass Pro it only came with night sights and 2 mags in the box.
I have one in 40 and as I was watching your shooting, I was wondering if you were going to bring that up. I have a similar issue of ridding the slide stop. I have to really focus on my grip much more so than my other hand guns. I have not found much by way of aftermarket accessories. Trouble is that slide stop is much more pronounced and slightly more forward than on the P226. So the Ergonomics are not quite as good. Still a really good gun, just something I always have to be aware of.
I have an HK P2000 and the thumb on slide lock release thing happens to HK guns too, especially the USP line. I think if you can't find anything aftermarket then the only thing you can do is just train yourself to not rest your thumb on the slide lock release.

I clean my guns the same way. I rest my thumb on the side release pretty much ride slide for me it keeps the gun from going left and more control but everyone is different. Nice video

Just picked up this gun in black 3 days ago...I have put 300 rounds through it no issues...For the price and the value..it is the best gun on the market currently!..EASILY!

Hey J : I really like the alcohol bath, prep for the Froglube treatment. all my Firearms are Frog-lubed.
When I shoot this and all my other handguns. My firing thumb rides on top and outside of the support hand thumb. I tried it both right and left handed. I'm primarily Left handed when shooting. Are you left eye dominant? I seen you shoot the long gun left handed or was the video reversed? nice video.
Was thinking of using regular Hoppe’s solvent and lubrication oil but stumbled upon your video. Now I’m a subscriber, so just curious was that 70% alcohol or 90%? And it doesn’t cause any malfunction, damage or possible rust?

Do you do the whole frog lube process after every time you clean your pistols?
No. I do the heat and paste the first time. After that I use the liquid as lube, and to clean. If their is dry baked on dirt. Then I break out the paste and let it soak.

I use odorless mineral spirits to get the gunk of the gun followed by alcohol to get everything off. Then I used my favorite lube.
Are you still using Frog Lube? I was a huge proponent until about the time of this video. Just curious, if you're still using it.
I am abke to try both my hk p30 with this...love both but the sig has had two failures and is requiring to be aent jn fir the same manufacture defect as before.

Use acetone low VOC in lieu of alcohol, much safer and less likely to interact with plastics or other finishes including anodized parts. Tried Frog Lube for about a year, then noticed the plastic top of the FL liquid container has a brown residue build up...WTH is that? Like gummed decayed plant remains. Stick with synthetic motor oil the best and cheapest by far.

No such thing as a brand new unfired handgun, they test fired the gun before they ship out the gun for sale.
What is the percentage of alcohol that you use to clean yourself your gun?
I'd recommend 90% since it evaporates more easily without leaving as much water behind. It'll work better as a solvent as well since oils and water (obviously) don't mix. Basically, more alcohol means more of the oils getting stripped and less water left over that could possibly lead to oxidation and fouling on unfinished parts.

It's a chamber unloaded indicator. Just a piece of plastic you put in the gun to show there is not a round on the chamber.
Love that background strip club music. Sig is the sexiest pistol ever made. How does the 2022 compare to the 229 and the 239?
my buddy has a 229 enhanced elite. it very similar in feel to the 2022 but the 229 has a bit better trigger and better balance. i like the 2022 better because of the price difference. just my 2 cents. never shot a 239.
Great video J ! I have a question for you. I'm very new to the gun world and I was looking at this Sig for my first gun, The question I have for you or anybody else out there is do you know if the LCI is an option for models sold in California ? The reason I ask is because I went to a local shop here in my town and the one that I was shown and able to hold did not have the LCI feature. I asked the salesman about it and he told me that it might not be available in California ??? I was like huh??? Really ??? I think he just had an older version, but not sure. Any help would be great, I really like that feature. Thanks Again !!!
When they tested the Sig SP2022 for the CALIFORNIA Handgun roster, it predated the changes like the LCI and the external style extractor, thats why they dont sell the LCI version in CA it's an OFF ROSTER MODEL
the models sold in California are like the grandfathered older Generation of the SP2022, the same reason why they dont sell Gen 4 Glocks unless your LE or you buy it used from a private party sale.

You wasted a lot of alcohol, I use brake cleaner and it strips all the factory oil off.

419? Thats what I paid for mine too. Same color as well, from RK. I got it week and a half ago. Mine came with plastic guide Rod though. Great vids on the sp2022. Keep them coming!

Each gun is good in it's own way. But if I had to pick one to go to war with. It would be the Sig.

Why do you guys ride your thumbs so high when shooting, ive never understood that method because it causes all the malfuntions..im a right handed shooter so my right hand thumb sits on my middle index finger, my left hand cups my right hand with part of my left palm pushing under the magazine and left thumb touching the bottom of my right thumb..it works perferct for me..good review tho, i have this as one of my guns, its just cool looking, and it works..abd yes, i would trust my life with it, if it was the only gun i owned..👍
