I am famous in my family for making this cheescake. It is amazing. I had it when I visited San Sebastian at little shop called la vina where you could buy them whole or by the slice. I literally went back to San Sebastian again 2 years later because of this cheesecake. It's my absolute favourite, I highly recommend making it!

I’m basque too hehe I’ve never actually called this a basque cheescake! In my area the popular “Basque cake” is no cheescake at all and looks quite different to this one, but this one is awesome too!!
@@gatosandwichera 😀 how does the one in your area look/taste like? Very curious! the ones I have tried looked like this one in colour/texture and that sort of rustic look. But they weren't that thick, maybe half the height of this one? I haven't had one in years but I remember they were delicious and definitely had that cheesecakey taste.
@@Rockmanticist it's more like a pie, with crust and all that, and it usually has some basque motifs like a lauburu done with more crust. In the inside it's usually all pastry cream. It's delicious!!

there was a mexican panaderia/deli near where I once lived. they had a cheesecake similar to this. I enjoyed the lack of a crust, and the subtle sweetness. I pretty much lived there while my car was broke down for a month. never a dull meal from that place.

I just made this with stevia (intermittently fasting and lower carbs) and it's currently in the oven . I think it will be ready by dessert. I'm certain my diabetic mother and I will love it, as well as the rest of my non-diabetic family.
