  • What's it like to drive a battery powered car on a 900+ mile road trip? That is what I wanted to find out! In this video, I show you how it works in the real world to drive a Tesla Model 3 on a two day road trip from Oklahoma to Kentucky!
    It answers questions like:
*How far can you go on a charge?
*How long do you need to charge each time you stop?
    *How does Supercharging work?
Trip details: I was driving from Oklahoma City, OK to Augusta, KY to see family. Complicating things was the fact that there wasn't any level 2 charging or faster available at my destination. I would only have level 1 charging which is really slow. So, I didn't want to arrive with 10% charge remaining which is what I normally do. I had to arrive with as much power as practical.

Hi! It is a dual motor, Long Range version, which is advertised at 310 miles range. My longest leg was 172 miles, so even if you were in the standard range (which is 250), you'd have plenty of margin. It only works because of the really great Tesla Supercharger network. In all honesty, no other EV maker can support road trips like Tesla does. I'm sure that will get better in the next few years.

@@parkevely I use it on just about every drive! I have learned where it will do great and when it should be turned off. I think of it as a 16 year old. Does pretty good must of the time, but you still need to watch over it and be prepared to take over when conditions get tricky. When I first got it, it drove like an 11 year old! Much better now and really safe with supervision.
