    Great video bud. This really helps me out with what I want to do for radio ideas in my f150

    Wow, considering all the bad videos out there, this was really well done and was exactly what I was looking for, so Thank You! My question for you is what voice commands are native to the stereo itself? For instance, with a USB thumb drive inserted, can I use voice commands to play songs/albums/playlists? Can I use voice commands to tune to sirius XM stations? or voice commands to make calls? (I suppose the last one is really a phone command which I could use google for). Also, how is text messaging handled? Read aloud? Voice input to reply or create and send? Thanks again and great job on the vid!

      Hi, thanks for the feedback! All of the voice commands are handled through Android Auto. I mostly use it for sending text messages by voice, activating the navigation, and setting reminders. Android Auto will let you say "Remind me to take out the trash when I get home." As soon as you get home, your phone will remind you. One note, I set mine if I press and hold the voice button, instead of Android Auto, Sync voice will be activated. I rarely ever use it. Also, I think you can just say Ok Google out loud and it will activate the voice system, but I prefer just pressing the button. Hope this helps.

      I don't think the stereo offers any voice function. It is handled by your Android Auto or iPhone.

    I have a 2013 XLT with the stock 4.2 inch screen. A few months back it got lines on the screen and was like that until the other day when half of the screen was completely black and now the whole screen is black. So I guess it’s time to upgrade.

      If you're going to replace your radio, better by one of these

    I want to get this but how is the sound it puts out? My 2013 Kia Optima SXL has the infinity sound system with the built in subwoofer. I really liked it. The stereo in my 2013 XLT is ok but not that good

    I'm having a hard time finding a wiring diagram for the OEM backup camera wiring in the kick panel. Any chance you remember where you found it?

    Did you have to run the aftermarket microphone to be able to use the android auto voice commands?

    does your truck have the shifter down by the center console? if so, were you able to retain the factory usb and aux inputs inside the center console storage?

    great video. I was thinking of doing the same setup in my 2014 F150. Did you bypass the DVD parking brake wire?

    • @kc5cbt
      @kc5cbt  Před 8 lety

      +Kirkmorris13 I didn't, but from what I've seen you just ground it. I don't ever watch DVDs, so wasn't a big deal to me.

    Can you use the back up camera while going down the road? sometimes I haul stuff in the bed and can't see, I would like to use it like a rearview camera. Thanks a bunch, great video!

    Nice video. I have the same 13 model with back up display in mirror. Do you mean this doesn't affect the mirror display? How about the backup sensor?

    • @kc5cbt
      @kc5cbt  Před 5 lety

      Your original mirror display still works. You splice into the signal wire and Y it to the head unit.

      +Bubbas Garage Vlogs Also, I've learned if you have an audio app on phone that isn't android auto compatible, you can leave the phone unplugged, start your audio app you want, and it will start streaming via BT automatically. But, if you plug in the phone, android auto will start and will stop playback of the non-compatible app. I was using a podcast player that was not compatible so had to work it that way. I have since installed an android auto compatible podcast player and it works great. I have Pocket Casts, Google Music, Amazon Music, and NPR One in my list of music sources on Android Auto.

    Awesome video. Now that it's been a few years since you've uploaded the video, how is it holding up? Any major issues? Also, when you use remote start, does it still turn the climate control on? Thanks in advance!

      I sold the truck last year to my buddy. He loves it and says everything is great. Yes, remote start turns on the climate control as well.

      @@kc5cbt that's good to hear. How was the setup? I've installed aftermarket radios in my previous vehicles so I've got some experience doing it. I just wasn't sure if there was anything that was very different.

    • @kc5cbt
      @kc5cbt  Před 4 lety

      Well, the maestro setup complicates things but you def want the deep truck integration. My only complaint about that head unit is I wanted the screen to be brighter.

    Thanks for sharing -- can I ask when you loaed up the iMaestro you first bring to your PC to load up your veh specs? Also the MAIN screen when the unit is powered up can that be customized as far as graphics/logos and background colors? I was considering the Pioneer 8100 over this model but truthfully speaking I do not like their graphics for the menus once outside Car Play. thanks for your feedback!

    • @kc5cbt
      @kc5cbt  Před 8 lety

      +Frank C As for programming the iMaestro, I think you told it what car/truck you had, steering wheel config, then what stereo you were using. After that, it allowed you to config certain settings such as what happens when you press steering controls, if you want to keep Ford Sync, etc. Then it sends those settings to the box. Then you install it in the car/truck.
      The background screen can be tailored. They have some included graphics or you can add your own via USB.
      I leave mine in android auto 99% of the time. Only time I exit out is to play the FM radio, which is rare. What is cool is you can have the radio playing and then plug in your phone and android auto will start, but keeps the radio playing. So you can see navigation, etc and still listen to FM.

    Get yourself a HDMI dongle no cords at all, you can screen mirror your android.I have th Pioneer 4200 same setup. Android auto is a joke IMO once you mirror screen you wont ever go back to android auto. With mirror screen you can multi task. Will post a video in the spring when its warmer outside:)
