      Brazil 2019:
      Bottas VS Leclerc
Sains VS Perez(or it was against another driver and maybe it's wrong)
But what matters is: Sains made a perfect divebomb in T1 while being squeezed by his rival, while Bottas had a lot of space to dive on top of Leclerc but he always gave up and braked more.
In Japan 2024 it was also the same thing, he took his foot off because Magnussen was waving on the track while others made beautiful overtakes in T1 at Suzuka braking late.

2021 France is a good example for Bottas’ poor defence, but I think Verstappen’s overtake on bottas is a better showcase than Perez’s overtake. They were heading in to the same corner, but Bottas defended when verstappen was even further back, and he totally outbraked himself. This meant verstappen easily got past on exit, they didn’t even go side by side through the fast right hander. But he did something pretty similar with Perez like you showed, not as severe, which is arguably even worse because he didn’t learn his lesson at all.

Formula 1 2018 Abu Dhabi max vs bottas was one of the great overtakes..and never got any real credit for it. Bottas screws max his magnificent overtake up a bit with his bad racecraft there too, if he stays on his line it wouldve been clean 👌🏻

Looking at the rear tires on the Bottas / Verstappen example, he had to go back to the outside to maintain the faster line on those worn-out tires. VER could send it inside of Brooklands on fresh mediums. But overall, Bottas was always passive at Mercedes.

At Silverstone 2020, Bottas defending the position was kinda useless. If you look at the rear facing camera the tyre on the right appears to be massively graining, whilst Max was on fresh tyres. Still, it is a testament to the W11's speed that he was still able to hang on round the outside.

Neat tidbit: the Coen Bros. stated that Anton is more a personification of Death itself than an actual man- his sheer relentlessness, rigid & incomprehensible code of 'ethics,' and the way he resembles a force of nature by his spectacular wake rife with physical destruction & violent death are the means by which the filmmakers carry out this personification.
