I did this today with the 4 bulb and 6 bulb vanity lights. They were old, rusted and pitted chrome colored light fixtures. I removed the fixture and sprayed it with Rustoleum Brushed Nickel paint. Came out great. This is a rental unit and wanted to save a few $$$ and now I don't have to paint around a new fixture.
@@melissajones5829 incorrect. Per the instructions on the can you apply 2 or more medium coats. I know because I just used this product a few weeks ago with amazing results, the results in this video look subpar at best
Hi, I can't find that INSPIRE paint you're using. Has it been replaced by something else? I REALLY want that same look to cover a tall brass floor lamp. Please help. Thanks.
rivieracar1992 They probably changed the design of the packaging. I think this is the same thing. Hope this works for you! www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/specialty/metallic-spray/
Great job. Is this the entire painting process in this video? I don’t see how you could had gotten any paint on the backside of those three bell shaped light receptacles without turning the entire piece over?
Exactly my thoughts too. When I saw the start of the video I was "He isn't going to pray paint over the solid brass, is he?!"...and he did :( Calling this a "restoration" is a step too far, sorry. But can't really blame him as if you're a person who doesn't like the brass look, there's only so much you can do in this case.
I dont understand why the hammered spray paint first only to spray it nickel later 🤔 couldn't the hammered effect been sprayed nickel color to begin with?? like A Rust-Oleum hamnered effect in nickel finish. Im confused.
you should have sanded it clean first and waited between coats. the orange peel is from dirt and the paint trying to cure while you're already applying heavy top coats
Andrew Saturn as I explained the piece was cleaned ahead of time. The texture was the desired affect that was achieved by use of the Hammered spray first. The paint did cure the required time.
I think it looks great. Gotta love these people on here who think you need to prep it like it's a car going in for a paint job. It's a bathroom light fixture people! He cleaned it and hit it with steel wool, it'll last forever. Great job, love the hammered look 👍👍
Seems like a lot people can't multi-task when watching CZcams videos. They can either watch or listen, but not both. And that doesn't even qualify as multitasking. 🤔
Thats really nice...you gave me a new project for this weekend
I would have never have thought to use a hammered effect followed up with a solid color. It looks really good. A great tip.
I use Rustoleum “Clean Metal Primer” before spray painting a bathroom light fixture. Nice video.👍🏻
A nice paint job - but personally, I much preferred the original brass.
You hosed that down like you were fighting a fire!😂😂😂
Awesome. I'm planning on doing the same thing with our vanity lights. Thanks for the assurance that it will work :)
Super helpful! Thank you!
Looks awesome!
Thanks for the video. We have a kitchen light fixture that needs some work. I will give this a shot! 😀
I cant help holding my breath to avoid inhaling the fumes while he is spraying !!! Ha ha!!!
Great vid
well done. looks great
I actually like the brass light fixture do you remeber where you got it from.
Hard to spray lightly...I repainted my house #s w/Rustoleum gold & it sprays out full blast. LOVE that texture -thanks for posting!
You don’t spray lightly with the hammered. It says one heavy coat

I don’t guess you read the part about several light coats. Great results, I’m doing the same thing in a few days.
With the hammered, you use one thick coat

has there been any adhesion issues with it so far? it does look nice and your right it save a few bucks

How long before do you have to wait before spraying on the metallic layer?
Marc Duchamp I think I waited a couple of hours. The dry times are different with each product. The longer you can let it cure the better.
Good to know thx for the tip!!!
How has the paint held up over time in the damp environment?
Second Account It still looks good. No problems with the moisture.
Im trying to to the opposite - make stainless look like polished brass
Was the surface cleaned to make sure there was no dirt or grease on it and afterwards scuffed? Didn't look like it from what I could see.
dnsmithnc I used TSP and steel wool to clean and abrade the surface before painting.
dnsmithnc i was thinking the same thing
you took a silk purse and made a sows ear.
It is a pity to paint such a lamp in black.
Great job.

All you had to do was buff that with Molly's may aluminum polish

I liked to original brass better. Ugh 😩 can’t believe he painted it.

He wanted a chrome finish in the end.
