No matter what anyone says... Mcgregor rise though the featherweights was one of the greatest moments in sporting history I have ever witnessed...... People forget he started the hype era
True, but wdym "hype era"?
Could you evaluate? Thanks
@Drew Keenan I don't think that's entirely true. He may have had a hand in it but it wasn't all him.
@Drew Keenan not trying to be rude but when did you get into the sport? Specifically ufc
@@dangeejr I believe before mcgregor an upcoming fighters who looked promising had was less expectation. The weight we put on young fighters to live up to the 'hype" really took off after mcgregor
@@dangeejr UFC wasnt as big as it was before conor, as much as you hate the drunk who hits old dudes he made the sport 10x bigger than what it was
Mendes is not a journey man, He’s one of the best fw’s ever, and only lost to the best. His fight with Conor is one if my favourites, him stepping in on 2 weeks notice without a full camp, Conor accepting the complete change of styles and showing up despite a serioys ACL injury which damaged his footwork and takedown defense. And despite all that they stepped up and fought their hearts out, both showcasing their game and their heart, earning everyone’s respect!
10/10 comment, it was a great moment in the sport's history.
Journeyman is a stretch, but he is definitely a gatekeeper at most.
Carlos eduardo chad was never a gatekeeper. his only losses are to aldo, mcgregor, frankie, and volk, and he was competitive with all of them. he’s just a step below the absolute best of the best.
Chad was a beast and and don't understand this nonsense here
@@pootisspencer5492 That's what a gatekeeper is though. Someone who can contend with the elite but for some reason never managed / or hasn't yet managed to pull through. Kinda like how Cowboy was. It's just that Chad retired sooner.
This man single handedly brought the ufc back to the spotlight.
Don't you mean he put it in the spotlight? Everbody in UFC earns better because of him. Everybody thinks they know MMA because of him.
MzX XzM you're a smart man. Too many dumb people out there to realize that. Especially those who think khabib can't fight. Dudes had not knocked no one out in his life. He was born to watch you already know what he was going to do.
Chad Mendes literally only lost to champions/future champions he is not a journeyman by any stretch of the imagination
@PJ Rivera not to mention pushed Jose Aldo to his toughest title win by a mile in they’re second fight
also did steroids.
@PJ Rivera buddy, you really think thats the only reason? plus he didn't get popped for steroids in the conor fight, i'm just saying a steroid user doesn't really deserve respect.
@PJ Rivera you think sean ohmaleg is on roids? maybe healing agent type steroids I could see, but most fighters aren't on peds.
@PJ Rivera and I'm just saying if a fighter is willing to do any kind of steroid and they got caught, whose to say they haven't done worse things or previously done roids. o'Malley never tested positive for peds, just weed.
I feel like so many people don’t appreciate the fact that Conor’s striking is _absolutely_ *Beautiful.*
With his persona, you’d think that he’d be a brawler that just swung for the fences on every shot. But in reality, the way he strikes is the exact opposite. Everything he does is just _so_ smooth and precise. It’s seriously like watching a great dancer.
I wish people had more appreciation for the beauty involved in MMA rather than just the brutality of the sport. Watching Conor, Yan, Gane, Adesanya, Dillashaw, Whittaker, Volkanovski, Poirier, Sandhagen, Namajunas … That’s just as aesthetically-pleasing as Artwork.
Edit - I Forgot to mention a few others who have beautiful Striking: Holloway, Aldo, Wonderboy, Valentina, Moreno, Aspinall, Kattar, Font, Leon … I can’t _not_ give them a shout out when I’m talking about beautiful striking.
Exactly
Dude I'm a Dustin fan to be honest and I really would like him to win the fight... But god damit McGregor has the best striking at 155 just like Wonderboy, just like The Last Stylebender
I even learned something from a video posted some months or years ago... Like the Oblique Kick or Side kick to the knee
@@dragostoma9033 I seriously have the exact same thoughts about everything you said lol.
It’s tough, because it’s such a huge fight in terms of the impact it will have on each fighter’s legacy. Conor needs the win to prove the naysayers wrong about how he hasn’t fought enough elite fighters (although I’m not sure that’s necessarily true).
And I think Poirier needs the win so that he will finally get the recognition he deserves for how great of a career he has already had.
He beat Max twice, Gaethje, Alvarez, Pettis, and Hooker. That’s the kind of resume you would expect from someone that was considered one of the ten best fighters of all time, yet nobody considers him to be in that discussion. And I think that’s solely because he fought in the same division as Khabib and Conor.
I love Conor, but I think Poirier deserves the win. He’s such a great guy and it would be a shame if he didn’t get the credit he deserved.
@@CipherSerpico I mean he does have the upper hand and it would be a shame for many to see him fall yet again
But I do want Dustin to win, because he doesn't really trashtalks, he fights for a greater good, i belive he is an underdog in many of his fights, etc.
It's easier to relate to him than with Conor... He is exciting of course... But I'm more of humble fighter fan
Throw Holloway in that lineup him vs kattar was something else
Chad is no Journeyman he was literally the best featherweight after Jose Also.
Wen u nvr become champion ur a journeyman fuck yo feelings
Right? What the fuck was that lmao
@@josue7210 you don't seem to understand what a journeyman is. A journeyman is someone who isn't the calibre of a contender or even gatekeeper.
Chad Mendes competed twice for the Featherweight Title and was ranked in the top 5 meaning he was a legit contender with actual credibility.
@@josue7210 The way you type and your username reminds me of the fat mexican guy that got beat up in a walmart parking lot by the dude in the cookie monster shirt that was riding a motorcycle
Good joke 😂
I love how people think Diaz won the second fight. Like he got dropped several times and only had success when Conor gassed himself from playing face punch with Diaz. Like yeah... anyone is gonna get tired eventually from beating the fuck out of a heavy bag. lol
the first 7 minutes of that fight showed how huge the gap in technical striking skill is between them. the fact that the first two rounds were arguably 10-8 for conor and the rest were razor close says a lot.
Exactly Conor CLEARLY won 1,2 and 4 anyone who says otherwise licks hairy taints
Okay annnd my nigga Nate just ate his shit and then put the whoop ass on him why y’all acting so surprised everyone knows Connor smokes most people standing and his gas tank and wrestling is his weakness Nate did a good job rolling with the shots and tiring him out that’s how fighting works dawg that shows you just a internet mma coach
Don't worry, I know how to speak to a Diaz fan.
Yo dawg, from the 403. Don't dare come see me you'll get straight slapped. Your boy Nate has looked like a side of beef for Rocky to beat the piss out of. The guy has a iron chin but, relies on it so much it's starting to break the last few fights. Your boy Nate got the piss beat out of him against him & Masvidal.

@@SHOTTuINdFACE damn you didn't have to kill him...
If anyone deserves a rematch, it’s Jose Aldo. “I would like to take the time to apologize.... to absolutely nobody “ gotta love the guy.
might be too late in aldos career.
Aldo doesn’t deserve anything, ever since USADA came out, his entire camp got busted and he’s had to drop a weight class because his steroid weight wouldn’t stick. It’s funny how as soon as usada comes out, he looks flat, and gets knocked tf out several times since.
John Johnson He never popped 🤡
@@MS-ie2bm naaah he is friking 32 years old if I'm not mistaken, he still has time
@@dragostoma9033 yeah but hes 42 in fighting age ever since conor took 10 years off his lifespan. Seriously, he aged 10 years in the process of that fight and buildup to it.
Why you do Chad Mendes dirty like that haha
i would have done the same 💀
i legit haven’t heard chad's name in any conversations, it's always in the same sentence as “mcgregor” because that's what people will always recognize him for, nothing else. the same can't be said of others like Aldo and Poirier, who despite their crushing losses to conor made an effort to change their game and climbed back into the pictureframe again.
Mr. Nijimura Mendes ran through everyone except Aldo, McG, and Volkanovski. He literally only lost to champs. If you haven’t heard him in any conversations, maybe you’re listening to the wrong people.
Even Dustin said McGregor is the hardest puncher he ever faced and that was after beating him. Another Thing ppl have to remember is Conor jumped up to 170 to fight Nate Diaz and that takes a lot of heart.
Much respect to Chad Mendes. He isn’t a journeyman, he’s a legend who’s had some of the most competitive fights with the top guys.
TRUE!!!!!!!!
This is a true story.. these casualsforget fast than Mendez was on a hunting trip when he got the call to fight Conor on short notice.. and the fight was totally competitive untill money gassed.. I think that if both have a full camp and fight 10 times, Mendez wins 5-6 easy
Ah yes, when Conor could talk the talk AND walk the walk. Miss those days. Seems like since the drama, he hasn’t been the same
Just like the cowgirls in ‘89
He got humbled thats why
@@yvs7618 you’re not wrong
There will always be something special to see this man in the octagon
Dustin’s second fight with Connor was impressive considering he ate and chewed Connor’s sniper bullet
With Alvarez especially, Conor was grabbing at Alvarez's lead hand which took away the jab. This distracted Alvarez alot and then Conor would purposely leave his head slightly exposed so that Alvarez would rush in, and Conor would make him pay with a counter shot every time.
dropped nate with this too

nice one, one of many but this clip truly shows conors greatness in a short but good and correct way
Eddie was hoping for mcgregor to apologize about his wife and kids but he apologize to absolutely nobody
There is a spring in that left hand of his. It strikes out and extends abnormally. It’s a beautiful thing to see, I love it.
Great breakdown, probably best I’ve seen from the ufc community recently!
this channel deserves wayy more subs, this video is insane.
I love Conor's opening line in this episode. Shows his supreme confidence in himself and his mighty left.
Imagine seeing that McGregor vs Alvarez fight with no crowd, my number one favorite finish in ufc.
He showed his ultimate pace during the fight with Chad but after becoming two divisions Champ he took off for too long consuming every luxury which ultimately slowed him down and his pace. He had never been the same after that
The Mayweather fight was the turning point
Great video!
I find it hilarious that everything that comes out of your mouth sounds sarcastic 😂
Like him or hate him hes one of the most entertaining fighters and his style makes him even easier to watch
Conor was right in saying that this is a forgetful sport, its sad because when you look at everything he has done for our sport. Everything he has accomplished inside and outside of the cage, people still forget. They try to downplay his success and his skills. Sure he may have lost that fire, that passion that drove him, but he is still one of the best to ever do it, still lethal. I get most hardcore fans of MMA don't "forget", but I just wish the majority of the community would be like that. Just sorting by newest comments is a pretty good gauge of the attitude towards him. This doesn't apply to Conor exclusively either, I hate when someone loses, or stops being as successful inside the octagon and the fans shit talk them.
100% agree, but keep in mind. MMA fans are a fickle bunch
Yeah, fans shit on his skills but the fact is. The more people shat on Conor the more money I know they bet on him to win against dustin XD
@@snabsv4799 Yeah you're right
The siver fight was actually the first fight of Connors I watched. I was impressed and kept track of him since.

8:31 you said Conor used a pull counter on aldo he did not. A pull counter is literally when you shift your weight back and forward to counter someone. Conor just countered aldo when he came forward he held his ground. It’s like what Conor was doing to nates jab. That’s a pull counter.
Conor left hand teleports behind dustin and KOs him 2nd round

Dustin' Calf kick made Conor learning to walk

This channel has a nice polish. I’m in.
think when I look back one of my favorite things about the mendes fight was it was on the same card as lawler vs McDonald 2 back to back amazing and such memorable fights
feel like people forget how much conor has changed this sport because he lost to dustin and khabib, this guy put more eyes on this sport than anyone, he influenced massive pay rises (even though the pay still isn’t that good apparently)
Prime McGregor was a force to be reckoned with! He's the one that got me into mma and ufc
I think Conor is still in Dustin's head after the rematch but Dustin managed to use it as fuel instead of poison during that rematch.
Can you do a video on Max Hollaway by this Saturday?
Conor w the pulled back braids went hard
To this day I'm still intrigued about that Mendes fight. Chad took it on 2 weeks noticed. Conor was gassed by the second round as well, even though he was preparing for Aldo for months. I wonder how the fight would've gone had it been a full camp Mendes in there. Conor was laughing out of desperation at the end of the first round, after the ground and pound. He was caught in his weak spot. Mendes was probably the worst matchup for Conor in that division, stylistically.
Mcgregor had an torn acl tho
Chad wasn't ever gonna win that fight. Those frontkicks to the body did him in.
You are insane if you think chad was a journeyman he was at the top of his game when he fought conor...
please you didn't indirectly called Chad Mendes a journeyman....
@Ben Dover man has like 5 losses against the best and now he's considered a journeyman. No, he's not.
@Ben Dover You know damn well journeyman ihas other meaning in MMA/boxing. And Prime Mendes was outstanding.
@Ben Dover that's the definition but does not apply to Chad Mendes
@Ben Dover Mate you are mixing shit up. I never said he can be champion now. All I said Prime Mendes was outstanding. WAS (key word) And all I'm saying he's not considered t a journeyman.
@Ben Dover lol
I don't care what anyone says about conor, rising through the ranks while dismantling deadly opponents with almost ease is still one of the best things I've seen
i forget how scary Brandao was going into that fight with Connor. He was never the same after.
McGregor's striking display against Siver was simply stunning.
What's unbelievable is if Conor touches you with that left your going down. That can only happen if every aspect of the punch is perfect. He mastered the perfect mechanics from start to finish with that left hand touching your chin. Not only could he do that but the slip counter with combination punches would finish you. That is so explosive though and requires so much energy if he doesn't finish you,it could leave him so depleted a takedown ground attack could be his undoing. I don't think he need to be bulkier or stronger, his striking was perfect. What he should have done is stay lean and perfected his ground technique/submissions. That way noone would want to take him down. Just my opinion, who am I,nobody!
Cleanest combo in ufc history ... cowboy owns that ...
8:10 i'll never forget mcgregor's look, almost like he felt bad for aldo for what's hes about to do to him:/

@The world of Avatar You got issues, buddy.
Chad is actually one of the best to never become champion. Maybe the best fw to never become the champ. It was actually disrespectful to call him a journeyman
2:22 i've NEVER seen that before. That was beautiful.
Dude called Chad a journey man
I wish he took some of that style he used at first in the smaller weight class and transferred it over to the heavier division's. His karate mixed type style to me is the best that there is. That style can counter, wresters, any form of opponent, it gives more options then the later style of mostly pull counter punches. Regardless McGregor is a beast. I'm really liking Sean O'Malley and Izzy and Wonderboy. Anyone who's good at unorthodox type karate style and I'm all for it. I feel like that is the style. It's at least my personal favorite type of fighting. The wrestling and grappling style and the power punchers have already had their times in the UFC. I'd like to see unorthodox high fight I.Q. styles win now.
