The way Izzy sets up his strikes is a thing of beauty man, the feints, distance management, movement around the cage the guy is a striking wizard
How jan able to do different in term of striking in last match than other
@@AshishKumar-ok4uy Jan was so disciplined that night, he made like no mistakes in there. Can’t wait for his fight with Glover.
@@rei1378 Jan definitely made mistakes, Izzy just seemed to respect Jan's power/takedowns more than anyone he fought before, so he didn't want to commit with many shots
@@joehoward7426 thats what i thought as well he didnt really open up to strike like he usually does, same with romero he was very cautious.
@@AshishKumar-ok4uy Striking is an area where you can't dominate every single matchup. Every all time great striker has either been outstruck or knocked out multiple times even in their own weight class. This was 20 lbs above and that matters in striking as well
Btw can we acknowledge the fact that adesayna almost got the sub win
Nah izzy haters gonna hate
looked more like he intended on a mercy kill there
@@SixFeetRabbit lmaooo
I remember this was after the Vettori fight and Tavares was in top 10 coming off 4 fight win streak. Everyone was saying this was too early for Izzy lol and he absolutely dominated him.
I remember they said the same against Kelvin
@@zero1u19 but Kelvin destroyed Izzy's face like shit bro...
@Darren Reddixit matters bro because was the only one who beat shit out of Izzy ...I think you should research the face of Izzy at the end of that fight so you can understand how badly it matters.
@@batmannots I mean likewise Israel bloodied up him up and dropped him 4x
@@batmannots I don't get what point you're trying to make
If Vettori thinks he's evolved, so did Izzy. Heck, Izzy has improved even more than how he is before when they fought.
As an italian i will root the shit out of vettori. But much respect to adesanya and his courage to step against a difficult matchup so shortly after his first mma pro lost🤝.
It's really hard for izzy to improve in striking, since he was on the very top lvl in this discipline even before he entered ufc. Vettori is definitely who improved more, i still think he loses to izzy tho.
@@EgoCZ yeah i think that too. But even tho i like Adesanya, seeing vettori winning the belt and becoming the 1st italian champ would be so awesome.
@@EgoCZ He didn't necessarily improve his striking but he has adopted it way better for mma since then. This fight was in 2018 and just in 2017 Izzy fought for Glory world title. So it had only been a year since he fully transitioned to mma
@@vns_3dits257 I can't imagine izzy on a losing streak
This is still my favorite performance of his. Brunson, Whittaker and Costa ones were great but there's something about this 5 round striking masterclass that I love more than those.
Gastélum?
@@psnpanuch8142 Izzy rose to the occasion in that one but it’s definitely not his best performance, he took way too much damage.

Tavares “I’m not impressed…” then proceeds to get schooled and DOMINATED in embarrassing fashion
Props for him being very tough though
@@davidcasarez9590 I give him props for being in there at all, fighting is not easy. But if by tough you mean being able to stand there like a punching bag and take shots without going down, I’m with you. But he wasn’t exactly a *tough* match, or a *tough* challenge
@@hugoschkiglitz I absolutely agreed, this guy bag was basically his punching bag
Reminds me of “this is gonna be the fight that says Donnie Long is back”
Lol
@@CJ_YT. hahaha
im glad this fight hasn’t been completely overlooked by the mma community especially considering that it was izzy’s first 5 rounder against a #8 ranked fighter ( higher than vettori at the time ) and it was right after his 3 round bout with vettori ( vettori was ranked fighting an izzy that just entered the ufc )
tavares did everything that vettori did in his 3 round fight with izzy with more forwardness in the striking grappling exchanges and he was still dog walked by a newly ufc entered kickboxer smh
Tavares did not fight like vettori lol. You may be remembering the fight wrong. Go look at the stats, vettori landed 46 significant strikes in 3 rounds compared to Tavares landing only 40 in 5 rounds. Tavares got completely bullied and at times was a straight up punching bag. Vettori on the other hand was constantly pressuring izzy. Tavares is a CAN and it's embarrassing he even was ranked tbh. He has some kind of decent wins but they were all years ago.
Tavares did evertything vettori did? What? Where is the grappling? Where is the kick defense? Head movement? Nothing
*highly experienced kickboxer
@@dylynblue9864 He didn't say Tavares did as good as Vettori dumb dumb. He was talking about the way he approached the fight and adjustments Izzy made. And how much of a casual are you to call Tavares a "can" when he has 13 wins in ufc and most of his losses are to guys like Izzy, Whittaker and Romero. As of now he has a better MW resume than Vettori lol stop embarrassing yourself
@@dylynblue9864 Did you just call Brad a can? 🤦♂️ Stfu forever
Dude is one the few fighters that can actually take advantage of their reach.
him and jones.
Exactly. People think it's just about having reach advantage but that means nothing if you don't know how to use it and don't have elite skillset. James Vick had the biggest reach and height in LW and he sucker lol
Him and Jones are the best in distance control . No one makes better use of their reach than they do
@@user-jp3hc4ux4emcgregor and wonderboy are up there too
That frame he does off his opponents is just beautiful stuff
Israel often doesn't look as physically impressive as his opponents. He often looks skinny. Maybe that's why some of these guys (Costa) thought the were going to maul him.
The elbow at 7:38 is unbelievable 🔥
He is skinny and that's the nice thing, he motivates alot of kids, i always see kids saying watching Izzy made them realize that them being skinny and being a champ was a possibility
@@juuk3103 if you actually look at his legs his thigh is actually kinda big. Look at his strikes, power from the legs and whip from the arm or shin. The man is a walking chain whip
He's lean, and lean = explosive power.
Arms and legs are meant to be whips rather than mauls, for maximum power.
In amateur competitions where dudes defense is always lacking compared to pro, I've seen lanky dudes KO guys 40-60lbs heavier than them, with one perfect strike.
Bulk up too much and you end up mauling, never getting that perfect speed/power ratio.
But his mobility is way better than those fighters.. he is quite flexible too ..
His frame is huge. People who have seen him irl, agree aswell. Alot of bone mass/size
Happy to see Brad win in his last outing. Gotta give respect to all the fighter's out there putting their health on the line.
I swear man, seeing some of the nastiest injuries makes me appreciate even a PoS like Koscheck
I respect all fighters, its hard sport as someone who as trained a few times.
Honestly an underrated performance.

thank you for posting this video it completely exemplifies my thoughts on the current recency bias surrounding post-jan izzy against vettori at the moment
Izzy gonna humble the pasta lord
Pasta la vista
The Kevin iole of ravioli
The Pizza Dream
The italian wet dream
He gon put the Italian dream too sleep 💤😴
Adesanya’s striking stamina is one of the best, throws a spinning wheel kick and doesn’t take a deep breath
My man Tavares says "the only thing Israel has earned us his Kickboxing Credentials, he hasn't done ANYTHING in the UFC" and then he proceeds to let Adesanya turn it into a kickboxing match.
Can't make this shit up 😂
He got kneed so bad, I thought it was a kneeing match. Best kneeing bag for Izzy thus far.
Izzy striking is scary AF!💯. I don't know how Tavares was still standing after the fight🙏🏿💪🏾
He's probably still Shell shocked from this
Izzy has no power bro lol
“has he done anything to impress u?”
him knowing izzy’s kickboxing record: gettin the fight tbh
Craziest part about it is that Jan showed Izzy he has A LOT more to improve on and that’s saying something from someone who’s now about to lap the middleweight division
Well said
Jan showed that there are weightclasses for a reason more than anything. Holloway just moved up 10 lbs vs Dustin and lost but that didn't necessarily show he had "A LOT more to improve".. The size difference matters a lot as well.
@@AsherKjhad Well Max and Dustin also fought at Featherweight years before that and Max also lost, obviously their skillsets were a bit different at that point in their respective careers but size wise I don't think Dustin is like massive in comparison to Max
@@justalurker3489 he is now he was smaller before
@@AsherKjhad that's true, Izzy and Jan had a striking war and obviously Jan didn't go down the dude is huge, like Izzy said, Jan was just a side quest, the real mission is Middleweight
At least he can say he got fucked up by the champ 😂
And also got koed by the previous champ as well 😂
Extremely biased commentators in favour of Tavares. Izzy made them swallow back their words.
Extremely biased. Israel's "kickboxing credentials" seriously should have been an indication of how well he can fight. He proved himself with those credentials even if it wasn't in the octagon that he got all of those wins they're still fucking wins. It isn't surprising that he's schooling UFC fighters.
Props to Tavares for his durability
This is precisely when I became a fan, what a performance!
Dude run his mouth and got beat up like a kid😂😂😂😂😂wtf dude izzy is something else dmam!!!
Lets be honest , first fight with Vettori wasn't close
It kinda was, stand up was competitive and vettori won a round
@@drake1896 Marvin won a round by holding him on the ground, the stand up wasn't close whatsoever.
@@cheeto6057 the strikes were 57 to 46, and izzy used a lot of leg kicks which did no damage. I don't really care for either of these guys but even though it was a clear 29-28 izzy, it was competitive
@@drake1896 THIS GUY JUST SAID LEG KICKS DO NO DAMAGE! Also a majority of Marvin's strikes came from on the ground. He had zero chance standing with izzy

I watched this fight live he absolutely demolitioned Brad.... RIP Marvin it's about to happen to him.
Wow adesanya really shouldn't have been thrown in with a top 10 opponent, dude looks dangerous 😳
When you disrespect Izzy, you gotta pay for it...
Brad said, "He hasn't fought nobody..." The dude Anderson Silva'd Anderson Silva LMAO
It was before the Silva’s fight
Was before the silva fight dummy
Lol
Izzy got them all. No one left. He’s through the ufc roster. The guy who would defeat him isn’t born yet I suppose.
This is why the mma community is ass. Kids like you don’t even know the time line of fights. Dumb ass
Best striker in the ufc
@The Face Of MMA yeah jan should hi strike against ngannou let's see how good he is. Or even Derrick Lewis
Nah Overeem
We can see through the history that Izzy almost always says the truth when it comes to fighting. The ONLY time he ever even considered the possibility of him losing was against Jan and that's his only loss, throughout the lead up to the fight he constantly said it was going to be very hard and he could lose, he knows himself and he's honest. When he says he's gonna show the levels between him and Vettori, we should believe him.
Only other time he wasn't right about his prediction of a fight was against Romero because he didn't think Yoel would just stand there the whole fight.
I think this is his best performance considering it was a complete domination for five rounds.
Ade wasn't even trying to knock him out he just beat em up for 5 rounds
I am a huge Izzy fan but to say Izzy wouldn't have taken the knockout if he could... nah Izzy like most other fighters know that knockouts impress and makes more fans, Izzy cares about his fans, he knows that's what puts money in his pocket.
@@Explorshon123 but izzy doesn't force a knockout. He just touch you again and again until you crumble. (Izzy's own words)
The aim was to hurt and punish him

I didn't see Izzy flip him off the first time I watched this... Awesome!!!
yeah cause he flicked his snot on izzy, thats gross 🤢
Tavares didn't believe in the hype...and then went in their got schooled. Lmao love this sport
That fight...it felt like Adesanya had some friends place a bets that he would win by decision. Felt like he could have finished the fight in the last couple of rounds if he had chosen to do so.
The setups Adesanya delivers are absolute class!
Absolutely love these videos please keep making these
these are always nicely edited
Its been long enough since the Weidman incident that I can finally watch leg kicks without covering my eyes..
Let's not forget Izzy went up a weight class and his power definitely had to increase during that fight with Jan. I'm sure he's more than ready
We didn't get to see it cuz Jan out striked him lol.
@@forgot2wipe fatsc Jan showed Izzy it's levels but I'm sure he felt the polish power so he had to adjust granted you don't just get stronger mid fight lol but he knew mid fight he need to do more afterwards
@@forgot2wipe this is true, but if I remember correctly, Jan believed Izzy would KO him if he didn’t take him down. He didn’t believe he could stay standing with Izzy for another 10 minutes.
@@notever8401 Jan did say that, but Izzy was gassing out, and I think Jan was being Jan and trying to give as much credit as he could to Izzy. There's a reason there's weight classes. The size and power difference were so easy to see, similar to the Dustin Max fight
@@forgot2wipe he out strikes him because of the weight difference combined with the threat of the takedown. It’s what makes khabib striking better then it is. Nun the less jan put on a performance and showed that he’s the king to stay 👑
The fact that Vettori pretended that he got an eye poke after a clear elbow landed and tried to complain! Just showed Style bender broke him mentally....didnt want it no more.
U goof Izzy poked him with his left hand before the elbow
@@mmatakespodcast1idiot793 yea he poked him one time by accident then Marvin started thinking like a dummy every shot is damn near an eye poke
Bogar,
Don’t let the italian fan boys lie to you. Vettori did everything to take unfair breaks.

I like how you cut this thing together w the trash talk. It forms a really nice narrative, documentary style
Another great video man keep it up
Izzy threw a jab, then turn his lead hand in as if to telegraph an elbow. But then throws a surprise straight left followed by a rear knee. wtf. that's crazy. wow.

Italians still arguing Vettori won anything after he lost the whole thing. Why wouldn’t he be back for #2? He knows the inevitable and who is waiting for him at the octagon haha🥲.
@@AncientPharaoh ok just saying he won 1 round on 3 on their first fight for sure.

That being said...LET'S GO IZZ💪😤🔥🌊🌊🌍🌬
At 9:41 Tavares wipes his nose and flicks it at Izzy. Then Izzy flips him off
I wondered what the finger was for 😂, that's just disgusting though.
Israel is a virtuoso.. Israel to MMA fighting is like Mozart to classical music. Everything he does in the octagon is next level. His opponents are good, but no one seems to be able to bring what he brings every time he fights. Of course he trains hard, but what he adds to that is unteachable. The diverse kicks and strikes are right on time and can not be anticipated or defended… they come from every angle often when you least expect it. One of the best MMA fighters of all times!
What’s they type beat in this goes very well and makes for one of the best vidoes performance wise for a fighter completely shows Izzy as the best striker I think ever in the UFC

Man if you don't quickly close the distance with Adesanya and let him impose his pace It's over.
Exactly and rob reach is. Soooo short
It's a technical war when you step in there with Izzy, he's AT LEAST sound everywhere with the creativity and striking ability to keep you guessing. The type of champion that will give anyone in the division problems. (obviously) No shade towards Vettori, but does he have the same ability to give completely different looks than he did in the first fight like opponent does? Idk. Definitely looking forward to Izzy's first rematch in the UFC though, it will speak volumes to his ability to evolve and grow as a champion if he finishes this fight in spectacular fashion.
The impressive thing about Izzy is that we can observe the constant improvement in all of his fights.
