    Tejano country! “I expected ‘way too much of you” - great line. Always fun watching you move and react.

    I am so glad you decided to cover the Mavericks! The reason you hear Dwight Yoakum in there is because their guitar player, Eddie Perez played for Dwight for several years before joining the Mavericks. They are one of the top Spanish language groups in the US and draw thousands when they work in the southwest. The strong accordion and horns sound of their group is due to the German influence no one knows entered Mexico. Listen to them do "Sway" sometime and get ready to do a dirty cha-cha.

    Love The Mavericks!!! Lead singer/songwriter Raul Malo is so underrated. They have a great rockin' Tex/Mex sound and in some of their ballads Malo's vocals will bring Roy Orbison to mind.

    • @jeffjohnson9911
      @jeffjohnson9911 Před 7 měsíci +2

      Raul Malo co wrote this with long time NRBQ lead guitarist Big Al Anderson.

    • @walterpanovs
      @walterpanovs Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@jeffjohnson9911 Malo wrote virtually all the songs on the first two Mavericks albums by himself. Starting with this album, their third, he began to collaborate on most of the new tracks.

    ----------- You've got an excellent ear and must've been paying attention to your earlier posts. I've often thought the same things... the Dwight Yoakam category is where I'd place this songs. It's a culmination of Country, Rockabilly, and perhaps Zydeco / Mexican.
    Sounds like Dwight & Buck doing Streets of Bakersfield
