      It's the german dedication and discipline in Graf in every sense in her name. At 5 she could swing a racquet better than most adults, it came so natural for her. German people are so good, no?

      David, I'm so glad that you have came back! For me the 3rd set is hard to watch because of nervousness of Steffi. I hope that you know that the 3rd part of the match is missing. Hope you will be able to upload it.

    Against Steffi I prefer Sanchez, Seles or Navratilova. But because of Steffi the matches were so great. The different styles. Nowadays you don't have it anymore. The rally from 3:38 and 4:55 unbelievable

    this is the reverse of the 1989 finals where steffi got ahead 5-3.. but boy steffi would probly rather have won that 1989 than winning this one.. that woulda given her the backtoback calendar slam as well as triple noncalendar slams!!

    • @sds2954
      @sds2954 Před 4 lety +1

      I was thinking the exact same think.
      If there are losses i would trade it would be that 1989 FO final and the 1993 AU final against Seles

    • @sds2954
      @sds2954 Před 4 lety +1

      @Ilya Kuryakin my thoughts exactly;).
      But i wanted her to take the 1993 AO as i believe it could have changed the course of history. Guther Parche might have had other thoughts about stabbing Seles and Steffi would have proved that she was closing the gap on Seles and it was only a matter of time that she was back at no.1. As i believe she was starting to figure Seles out. Same as she did with Navratilova and Evert.

    • @zeddeka
      @zeddeka Před 3 lety +2

      It's interesting - Steffi said afterwards in 1989 that she was relieved not to have the pressure of back to back grand slams. I remember hearing her comments after she won the grand slam in 1988 about how mentally and physically exhausted she was. She didn't want to leave her hotel room afte she won the US Open final. I think it's hard sometimes for fans to grasp just how much it takes out of the players. It leaves then with a kind of post traumatic stress disorder. I remember Rogerr Federer when he was having his great run saying that he had "created a monster"

    Anyone can watch the entire match. 95% of the game before Steffi took the lead for the first time 8-7, there was not a single sign that the crowd was for Steffi. The entire 3rd set until the score was 7-6 Arantxa's support was even louder.
    Of course, when Arantxa didn't apply for the match 2 times, and Steffi saved herself, then all Steffi's fans received a huge charge of positive emotions, drive and splashed out. And the fans of Arantxa were shocked and quieted down. Only because of the course of the match, the end of the match was dictated by Steffi's fans.
    If in football 10% of people support a team in the stands, but it will bounce back from a score of 0-3 and lead 4-3, then these 10% will outshout 90% of the others. It was the same here
    There were no less fans of Arantxa and they loved her no less. The Spaniard herself made many mistakes after the game. She was insanely sorry as a woman, her behavior as a person was understandable, but an athlete has no right to show herself so weak, humiliated and depressed.
    Her tears, her terrible crying, complaints and suffering from the fact that the crowd did not support her and gave rise to the myth that she was unloved by the crowd. Her rivals like Novotna began to put pressure on this.
    Why didn't anyone explain to Arantxa that her fans were no less?

    • @carrerau7138
      @carrerau7138 Před rokem +1

      Then why did Arantxa say to the crowd at the victory ceremony - tears in her eyes- “I hope that next time you will cheer also for me“?

      She is better player than ASV.As i see,you have no idea about tennis.Tennis get involved,like cars : today you can drive much faster than 20 years ago.
      If Graf had problems wiht ASV,she would have problems mit Caro.
      I can compare both players,than Caro is better
