    great video in detail for the euro s50. We are lacking content for this engine on youtube. I gained back about 30wrhp (dyno tested) from having a Dr Vanos rebuilt unit in my euro s50b30

    More Moose!!! I love these videos, you can really see the passion for the car and the thorough explanation of what’s happening is so good and unique to the content on this channel. Eurospec all the way!!! Keep up the fantastic work! 😁 oh and I love how Moose is more comfortable in front of the camera now!

    Got my double vanos (S50B32) rebuilt this winter by a guy who knows his way around those things, got like 50hp back when I took the car out this spring.
    After seeing this, i have no regrets to pay someone a bunch of money to getting it done, way to fiddly for me :) Good work!

    That Anti-Rattle kit isn't even needed - at least for us lowly single vanos guys. I bought o-rings only from e-bay and adjusted my old 'ring' by sanding until I had slight drag (m3 cam swap). Worked perfect on 2 rebuilds and there was barely any sanding needed. The rattle ring kit is 'harder' metal but who's to say if that will help long term or how much harder it is.
    Beisan needs you to do this anyway since they can't predict thickness variation in the stock components. Their first step is to assemble and check clearance, then sand the ring or the spacer until you get the right clearance. Therefore put 2 and 2 together and you just tighten up clearances with sandpaper and your old parts. From what I've read people still need to rebuild their fresh rattle ring vanos with the same frequency since it's the o-ring that goes out first every time. Still going strong a year later for me.

    Cheers for the footage on the S50 euro . Looks like your top end is in good condition even the vanos. I'll be rebuilding my engine. Not taking any chances on a 20 year old engine. Most engines I've looked at or owned were rubbish leaking vanos /Rod bearing gone .

    Rebuilding a VANOS system.

    It's actually not that difficult to do. Keeping things surgically clean and organised goes a long way to success . Once you done a few you build up confidence and really get a feel for what's going on. With patience and strict adherence to the instructions any reasonably competent mechanic could do the job.

      A lot pf thimg are hard... However gettimg part and put it back together is not the same thing...marking and checking before put it back to the car the hard part since amg or gtr engine also had mistake... Sinc these car hogh power and small mistake will show up in dyno....

    • @andrewwilson8317
      @andrewwilson8317 Před 5 lety

      campkira should not need to mark anything! It literally is as I said,make sure everything is put back to factory standard. Worn parts are replaced ,seals are replaced and solenoid tested. I have overhauled a few ,first for myself and several for customers. They are all still in service many thousands of miles down the line,with no problems. There are lots of clear step by step instructions available. Follow them to the letter and you can't go wrong.
