Nice job - love Race German stuff. I rebuilt the vanos on my e38 as part of the whole timing chain job. I know what you mean about the rattle, so glad it’s gone!
I’ve been really happy with it! I found them because someone was selling the intake on marketplace so I ended up looking them up.
@@jackbowescinema8002 yep - I got their fuel injector rebuild kit when I had a vacuum leak caused by a worn o-ring. Great kit. Drove me nuts trying to find that leak, until I used a smoke machine!
How do you know if the vanos stopped working
Did you drop the teflon ring into hot water to expand it? Was there an arrest made next door? Great video editing etc. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Probably an arrest haha, normal Orlando. I didn’t use hot water. I did soaked the teflon in oil for a little bit.
I have the same kit from race German, no clue what the 2 copper crush washer are for though. Any idea?
Yes! Those go on both sides of the vanos line to the vanos.
Thanks! I am having the same issue of play with the new ring, how much did you have to sand it down?
@@JJSmooth225 jeez probably about 500 swipes on each side. It took forever
Awesome thanks a lot for the replies!
@@JJSmooth225 No worries! It wasn’t a lot on each side all at once. I assembled and disassembled the vanos a lot of times checking the preload.
Hi did you also lock the flywheel pin, too? Or don’t need to do that?
I didn’t have the tool but made sure the crank was at TDC before reassembling everything
@@jackbowescinema8002 Understood, thnaks~
i just did this job and my vanos has so much play still? wtf do i do
8:45! Sand down that spacer a lot and you’ll be all good!
