you should explain that this is meant for VDO meter. A motometer brand would require 4 gears. This is important to know.
Did your car have a Navi screen before this ?
I did not
Love these trucks. Mines bright yellow 😁
So this one, you don’t have to run wires to the trunk like the electrons one? For the amp?
Nope, all the wiring was plug and play behind the head unit
i have similar aliexpress unit for my prelift E39 1998 for about 140$. Works great. All of them uses Zlink or similar. i have one problem connecting and it was my phone not the unit. I need to reboot my iphone to work again.
It needs some sort of custom air intake scoop and a heat shield, but what nice looking and sounding hot air intake you got there
It’s not mine
I’m not sure why the Turner intake is routed like that. They advertise huge airflow but it doesn’t mean much if the air is hot.
@@jackbowescinema8002 because in testing it doesn't matter at all. You suck some hot air at idle but get going even a small bit of speed and temps drop. The whole flap setup on the original CSL airbox is only really to pull air from under the car at rest.
I want one for my e39
How does yours have a CD player what’s the model number of it
How do you know if the vanos stopped working
In going to do this. Auto elec wants to charge me for 3 hours what do u think?
3 hours install?
@@jackbowescinema8002 yes that's what they quoted $390 to fit it
@@Brigitte.286 it’s definitely time consuming because the lower dash has to come out. You don’t need many tools, may be worth trying yourself?
@@jackbowescinema8002 also she said if my car has an amplifier it will be more do u know anything about that?
@@Brigitte.286 maybe an after market amp? The car has a factory amp in the rear of the car but you don’t have to mess with that. Does your car have DSP?
Hi did you also lock the flywheel pin, too? Or don’t need to do that?
I didn’t have the tool but made sure the crank was at TDC before reassembling everything
@@jackbowescinema8002 Understood, thnaks~
Can you make a video about the wiring? I am not good at this but I want to do similar. Wich wire did you use on the driver side?
It should also be the brown and grey+red wire. The wires that power the window switch lights
@@jackbowescinema8002 is this 12v?
@@TheBestGamer25 yes
Turn off Bluetooth .
What?
You said you have to turn your phone off completely or else it would connect to CarPlay and won’t let you connect to WiFi. Turn Bluetooth off so it won’t connect Also which unit did you get? You never added the link
@@FernDaawg it’s disconnected now. Turning off Bluetooth for some reason doesn’t disconnect me from carplay
@@jackbowescinema8002 gotcha, how is it holding up? I want to get Apple CarPlay but can’t decided whether to go with this or dynavin
Automatic transmissions are ubiquitous now, but there's something so satisfying about how the combination of low gearing and direct drive makes the wheel speed so absolutely controllable. Whether the torque is high or low, and whether the tires maintain traction or not, you remain totally in control of wheel speed, and that's a driving feature that is so easy to forget ever existed if all one drives are modern trucks. Cool video.
I couldn’t agree more, it adds so much to the driving experience. There is such a numb feeling knowing the truck won’t stall in an automatic off-road. Thank you!
is it wireless apple carplay?
So how did it work out for you? I just got a 2000 518i in September. And it's got a little bit in the same spot.
So far so good. I could have sanded it better though. If you only have a little rust sand it as much as you can and it won’t come back.
I put 2 coats of rust converter, 2 coats of paint with a touch up pen, two coats of clear coat and Some linseed oil after I sanded it. Linseed oil has anti rust properties apparently.
hello have you a link for this or is this custom handmade ?!
They are factory door handles from an e38 7 series!
Do you by any chance have been experienceing the carplay audio cutting out at times ?
I don’t have that happen
Might not be a collectors item now but it just might become one in the future. I had a Jeep J10 it was fun
does it have a good voice? they say that the original one is better for listening
For phone calls?
@@jackbowescinema8002 I mean music bases
LOVE it
Cool ..
Dont forget to poke the drain hole on the bottom right, it will stop the water from accumulating in the fuel door.
Good idea! Thanks!
Snowrunner but with unreal engine
i just did this job and my vanos has so much play still? wtf do i do
8:45! Sand down that spacer a lot and you’ll be all good!
Did you drop the teflon ring into hot water to expand it? Was there an arrest made next door? Great video editing etc. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Probably an arrest haha, normal Orlando. I didn’t use hot water. I did soaked the teflon in oil for a little bit.
I have the nav dsp.. would it be plug and play with an 6m extension front to back.. currently have no sound ..
what about the AMP wire?
cant you just replace that entire panel? would be better from a parts car if you want to keep it oem paint technically, right? i may be having that issue on my imola m5 soon , and am debating on doing that
Not on these cars actually. If you look at where that panel starts and ends it run all the way along the roof down the a pillar. These rear quarter panels are molded to the body. It’s annoying because replacing it would fix a lot of my rust issues haha.
@@jackbowescinema8002 yeah was looking into it after i posted this. unfortunate
What brand is your quick release?
Have you installed the backup camera yet?
I never got around to installing it
Does this work for the 2003 e39 m5? Listings says 95-02
where can i get the new gears?
I got mine through garagistic
Hi Jack, did you install the backup camera? If so, how did you mount it and where did you run the wiring? I have an e39 Touring as well. Thanks again for your videos!
I never ended up mounting in. I have seen plate bracket attachments though!
Hi Jack, I really appreciate your videos. I first watched your Eonon head unit videos as I am looking to upgrade that for my 17 yr old daughter who is now driving my '01 e39 Touring. Mine is also silver but with black interior and is an auto with about 184k. You are so lucky to have a manual but I'm sure you already know that : ) I'm about to replace the front wheel bearings so that is one thing you may want to plan for if they are original (I'm the 2nd owner of my e39 and it spent the first 18 years of its life in SoCal and in the Charlotte, NC area since then so virtually zero exposure to road salts). They are not cheap and it's a knuckle busting job. Window regulators are another item that will fail but are fairly ez to replace. I just subscribed to your channel, thanks again for your videos!
Love the M715… nice video keep it up
Thanks!
Any more Kaiser videos?
What year and model 5 series is this? And what is the model number of the head unit you installed?
Jack which is the Enon Model# which goes into the E38? Just want to be sure I get the right one.
Gonna be sorting my fuel filler rust in the next week or so. Good to see it getting done on a car with similar amounts of rust as mine.
Good good. It’s such a pain that they rust there but good you’re catching it early.
@@jackbowescinema8002 Aye, got a sill and a jacking point to do in the next year or two. Other than that there's really only the fuel cap and some stone chips dotted about. Maybe the day will come that I own a rust free e39 🤞
@@dtek497 haha, I have to do the same. Rust is the worst
Just wish you had shown how to plug everything in and where it all goes
Which wires did I not show?
@@jackbowescinema8002 just in general, I kinda wish it was more in-depth. It's a good video. Just didn't work for me. I bought one of these and boy its a major mess. It's not easy like what I did on my e61
@@chipmunk1631 that’s weird. There was no way to plug anything in wrong with my kit. All the connectors were specific to each other.
@@jackbowescinema8002 well, I bought mine used on marketplace and bought the wiring harness adapter but it was very confusing. It was like something to rewire the entire radio wiring harness
Great vid Jack! A bit more details on wiring would be greatly appreciated.
What a truck!!!! Final drive ratio must be insane!.
It is! I have a video on my Instagram of it driving itself at idle!
It says 1995-2002 bmw e39, mine is from 2003 will it work? and why would the be so specific with otherwise?
The ends of the wires on the 2003 cars are different from what I know. Connections will also be different if it’s a 540 or an m5, the wires have different ends
Do you know if this will replace the earlier model head units? I have a 98 e39 523i
I believe so. I’ve only heard it doesn’t work with DSP systems
I have the same kit from race German, no clue what the 2 copper crush washer are for though. Any idea?
Yes! Those go on both sides of the vanos line to the vanos.
Thanks! I am having the same issue of play with the new ring, how much did you have to sand it down?
@@JJSmooth225 jeez probably about 500 swipes on each side. It took forever
Awesome thanks a lot for the replies!
@@JJSmooth225 No worries! It wasn’t a lot on each side all at once. I assembled and disassembled the vanos a lot of times checking the preload.
Bro is using his blinker in a bmw
A rare sight
3:30am just finished with one of these
Sick!
Will this work with a e38?
I think the fitment is slightly different
Nice job - love Race German stuff. I rebuilt the vanos on my e38 as part of the whole timing chain job. I know what you mean about the rattle, so glad it’s gone!
I’ve been really happy with it! I found them because someone was selling the intake on marketplace so I ended up looking them up.
@@jackbowescinema8002 yep - I got their fuel injector rebuild kit when I had a vacuum leak caused by a worn o-ring. Great kit. Drove me nuts trying to find that leak, until I used a smoke machine!
Good stuff. I'm going to purchase this one based on your input. Appreciate it, sir!
Quick thing!
Make sure you do not have DSP! I’ve been hearing of people having issues when they have DSP because it needs a special head unit. The one I have is disconnected but the r49pro seems to be about the same.
