We're back with some gaddamn X-MEN '97 stuff and THIS IS WHAT WE"RE TALKIN' ABOUT YALL! Which is to mean that we wanted to get back to feeling stressed af, thrilled and .....creeped out? This one has A LOT OF STUFF! A really touching funeral scene leads us in and it's note perfect!
Rogue has a lot of righteous fury, but not before knockin' heads with CAP HIMSELF!!! Did NOT see Steve Rogers being in this one, but definitely marks just how much Genosha is being felt around the world.
AND NOW WE GOT PART SENTINEL CYBORG PEOPLE OR SOME SH*T?!
Also, Bastion is giving creepy serial killer genius vibes, what with the imprisoned shaving Magneto moment...

Bryan Singer, have you tried not being a piece of sh!t?
Sun Spots Mom is White. As in White skin and Red Hair. His Dad is Afro-Brazilian. So a little bit of reverse white washing for my favorite child hood character
Rogue’s moment of allowing herself to cry in Nightcrawler’s arms and being comforted by her family… gets me every time 😭
"Professor X is coming back to talk her down."
All of us: 😐
Already the best xmen anything ever put onscreen, by a MILE
Comic book accurate characters outstanding story. Yeah five seasons please.
32:27 Morgan is absolutely right about how the queer-supportive families of the 20th Century acted. Yeah, they didn't hate you for being queer, they loved you and supported you... *just don't make waves or draw attention to yourself*
I've found a lot of reactors, younger millennial or Gen Z, didn't grasp how *this was pretty much the best you could hope for* when coming out in the 90s or before!
OMG Facts
She's so funny and wise
Hell I came out around 2014 and it went like that, maybe a smidge worst as they actively forbade me from bringing my partner around! At least decosta seems to still be able to hang with jubile :/
Jubilee and Roberto's dialogue at ground zero was word for word what survivors of the Pulse club shooting said.
You know how they say every villain is the hero of his own story? Nah, not in X-men. I love how Sinister and Bastion are straight up "we are villains".
I would say bastion considers himself a necessary evil mr.Sinister on the other hand is just up and evil
In Buffy & Angel, if you ever tell a soulless vampire that they're evil, they'll just be like "duh".
"and you're one of the scenester queer girls that he's been hanging out with in the big city."
this is the best channel
God I LOVE it when Theo James does voice acting roles, and he absolutely killed it as Bastion. He was also in Castlevania and Nightmare of the Wolf!
Same. He had a very suave and smooth voice in NOTW and a very sinister one in this. :)
Knowing that Rogue's VA Lenore Zann lost her niece to cancer and channeled her grief into Rogue's makes her breakdown in Kurt's arms hit even harder.
Rogue really working out her feelings with her fists this week.
Also, in one episode we get a quote from Mr Rogers and an appearance from Captain Rogers...
Love how much of the discussion you guys included, engaging with the show in all of the ways it wants you to
I love watching you guys react to these episodes. Sean and Morgan have some of the best facial reactions of people I’ve watched on the CZcamss.
X-Men has always been at it's best when it has the hard conversations and this series has really raised the bar, especially for an animation.
The ability to have the same conversation from multiple veiw points is top shelf. Trask has been setup in this series as the "we only want to protect ourselves" man, the "we only want to arrest the bad ones". He is representing the concerned citizen who doesnt see themselves as strictly bigotted or hateful. He is also used to show just how misguided that mindset can be and how easily a far more evil person can take advantage of someone like him. I think Trask has genuine regrets and was too short sighted about what he was starting, but somethings just cant be undone.
In contrast, we have Roberto and his mum. She is "supportive" or believes herself to be, but again "won't anybody please think of the shareholders" her apparent support only extends behind closed doors. Episode 1 had a captured Roberto declare "I'm one of the good ones" which I'm thinking is an attitude he's learnt from watching his mum react to the news stories.
Cap isn't wrong to see that flying his big old US flag into Mexico and punching civilians would be a political disaster with big reprecussions ... But Rogue isn't wrong for being pissed off that he won't come and help her either.
Not to mention Beast, who soent most of the first season (1992) in jail awaiting trial because he shared Charles' optimism and knew he would be found innocent so he trusted the system ... To now standing in the ruins of Genosha, dropping those heavy lines.
I don't know how far ahead you are, but you're right this is going to big places!
Rogue was Mothering a little too close to the sun this episode
tbh if someone KILLED A GOOD MAN, MY MAN, I'm yeeting the entire universe into oblivion.
I know right...I had to do a double take too when Cap's shield slammed into the ground next to Rogue's feet! unbelievable!....LOVE YA! Morgan is so cleverly funny...
These Prime Sentinels are basically Borg, and that music cue for Cable’s re-entrance felt very Kyle Reese 👏👏
The animators on this show LOVE drawing the little crinkle between people's eyebrows
IVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK
This is where the fun begins!!!! 👏
Take a drink every time Sean mentions or references 9/11
9/11 is a psychological watershed that forever looms in one way or another over everything for people who were a certain age at the time.
Or take it up with Beau DeMayo who’s specifically dropped that and Pulse Nightclub as two big cultural touchstones they’re evoking here.
8:12; Couldn't believe Zack Snyder did that, but then again I can! Hope both Rebel Moon movies flopping knocks some sense into him, but it won't :(
The line Rogue says to Ross is so fucking real, something very close to things I've said to queerphobes who hide behind respectability. Like so many queer people killed, directly or indirectly, now you're stuck with us bitter fucks who survived, deal with it.
According to what I read, this was going to be the Halloween special.
that's why they were in día de muertos.
Derr Batman is technically D.C., although he has appeared with Captain America and fused with Wolverine in Amalgam. I'll stop now.
“You were born for this” Magneto was born to listen and obey… god damn
The line really doesn’t go anywhere though, at least as of episode 9
When X-men were created, they were a metaphor for the civil rights. Xavier and Magneto were basically Malcon and Luther King. Singer used it for LGBT. Recently in comics, they served as a metaphor for immigrants. Basically you can put any minority group that's being persecuted at any given time in their place and the methafor will work.
If they were basically Malcolm and Luther then why were they both made white?
@@bensenzo The X-Men were created in the 60's, before the first Black super hero was created.
But they were a metaphor for the minority being persecuted at the time because they were born different.
@@OrdemDoGraveto I don't think you understood my question 😂
@@bensenzo Sixties. Before there were Black super heroes.
There is a cap on how progressive comics could be.
@@OrdemDoGraveto fair enough. But it sort of lost its purpose if they were based on black people but the writers couldn't make them black. Good on them though. It was coming from a right place👌
25:34 Sean's Canadian accent is pretty damn good, eh? My compliments
🤘
Her mistake was not ripping him apart. Double tap or don't even bother.
I saw a comment below about how our favourite trio talks over too much of the show and I think that's ridiculous. We're here cause of the banter - we know that they're not missing anything crucial & what we get from them is a lot more soul & charm than any other channel. Never change what's best about this tiny little part of our community - y'all rock.
Can’t stop the vibe and wouldn’t know how to! 😘 ty
13:52 Bro sometimes is better to stay quiet and enjoy the damn show, specially when you are painfully not funny
I dunno, I’m just hanging man. Which is much better than being *painfully* uptight. Have a good one dude
It is a reaction show you are watching. He made a great observation that I have seen in other shows.
