This episode is a subversion of Morgan’s “iS hE dEaD?!?! ArE tHeY fUQqInG?!?”
The Sentinel, that attacked Genosha is called Wild Sentinel.
I take everything back that I said about the girl. She was upset when my favorite Gambit died. Thank you. It was a mistake to do that. The Showrunner is gone.
Here's my question why show the video if you're going to keep talking through it
This episode solidified this animated series as one of the best shows of 2024.
Then the writers say 8-10 makes 5 a nice warm up.😅
Not just 2024 lol.
Literally best comment!
Emma's burn was so hard, it even singed the forth wall.
"The name's Gambit. Remember it."
😢😢😢
Yes…that was a line in the show. Congratulations for repeating it. 👏
@@DNotzz someone seems grumpy

This episode is brutal.
Yes this is great story telling.
So Beau DeMayo, former head writer for the series before "parting ways" stated the Pulse Night Club Shooting was an inspiration for this episode, and there's even an exchange in episode 7 that's near word for word from people after that event. It's a real reminder that peace is not the absence of tension, but the presence of justice, something we have not achieved yet, and can never get from asking kindly.
Magneto was Right
Do we yet know what the reason was?
@@SeanTanktopno all speculation. Rumor has it that he was “hard to work with” but it sounds to me like he probably stepped on the wrong person’s toes and got the boot
He also said Tulsa as well
He also said that the change in tone after this episode was inspired by the change 9/11 had on the US, from the optimism of the 90's to the fear & bitterness of the 2000's
All speculation, but its believed he was let go after it was discovered he had an Onlyfans.

Oh boy, I wonder how Rogue is going to choose between the two men.
Oh.
That's how.
Full frontal assault on the senses. Entanglements, genocide, and Ace of Base. If you don’t need a cigarette or drink after watching Episode 5, there be ice running in them veins.
I went outside after the episode and smoked a few while crying. Like how dare this show be this good to evoke such emotion.
One of the greatest episodes of television ever!
Until we see 8-10.

i have seen at least a dozen reactions and rewatch this episode with friends a dozen more, the "sugar... i can´t feel you" kill me every fucking time
Amazing Episode!
Did y’all notice the Watcher in the sky when the fireworks started around the 20:40 mark? As soon as I saw it I knew it was gonna hit the fan.
That’s Ace of Base: Happy Nation. It’s a solid track and has seen an increase in popularity due to the show.
It’s also the song in “Jean’s” vision in episode 1.
This episode broke me. Hands down some of the best Marvel writing in years. And it’s animated. It’s just too perfect.
Also, Forge and Storm have been together for a few weeks if not Months since she left before Madeleine was revealed.
When they showed the few seconds of the concentration camp…. **** my soul.
Yeah, a sure sign that some serious shit is about to go down.
Did you not watch 14:35 of the video?
@@jp3813 the editor saw it, they didn’t.
@@AkodoNoEyes Sure, but that means the editor already pointed out that info.
@@jp3813 and that’s why I f*cking asked if they noticed it. Hence the question mark.
The crazy thing about Cyclops he was molded by Professor X to be the "perfect mutant". Be brave but not too powerful be strong to lead but listen to humans to build trust. And of course Charles wants humans to look at a mutant like Scott summers and be like "oh hes just a regular guy" and see every mutant like that. The xmen even spoke about the designs of the outfits and how they were created to match the heroes like Captain America and the avengers so that the public would not be frighten by the mutants. Cyclops spends most of his time hiding his emotions and focusing on being the perfect leader of his team 1 cause he was taught to and 2 he does this cause he knows every decision he makes is life and death for his team and he struggles with that which creates distance from himself and the team. One of my favorite moments is when the president wanted to give an award to cyclops and captain America was also there and they took a bunch of photos and everything was all peachy and Captain America even told cyclops how important this was and at the end of this when cyclops went home he tossed the award in the trash. He just smiled and played the part.
Oh yeah. When you read the comics you understand that the "boyscout" persona is just a mask. He pretends to be like that because it's his job as the leader of the X-Men. People already hates mutants and Cyclops has to be the boyscout to appear good to people. In the 2nd episode after Xcutioner takes his visor, Cyclops could easily destroy him by just opening his eyes. But he can't do that. Image of the X-Men and mutants is more important than him being ass kicked.

24:01 ha ha! Some have been complaining there hasn’t been enough Wolverine in the show. As if he wasn’t the star of, like, ten X-Men movies at the cost of any coolness or focus on Cyclops. Jesus, people! Let Cyclops take center stage for once!
Not to mention Wolverine had his own show on Nicktoons and got his own anime 😂.
It may be a good thing Logan hasn't been focused yet....seems like the members that get to shine end up getting wrecked.😔
It was at the cost of every other X-Man.
@@wantutosigh1117sure was! They took one of Cyclops’s pivotal moments, when Jean dies with him and for him, and gave it to freaking Wolverine. I was so done with X3 as soon as Scott was killed. I knew exactly where we were headed at that point and I hated it.
Nicktoons?!?!?
*Thousand Yard Stare* "I mean.. They... I mean... It's Genosha... Genosha's got... Some problems..."

Gambits her fave
Ace of base.. remember it kids
I'm saving this reaction video for when I have my glass of whiskey after writing or dancing (or whatever it is I'm doing tonight) cause I want to go through the trauma and pain of that all over again with the three of you when the world is quiet & all I can hear are our sobs.
So The Watcher was just chilling in the back and watched some mutant genocide
Anytime the Watcher shows up, you know it's going down.
It's almost as if he is not supposed to (But does sometimes) get involved or something I mean shit, he is called the "Watcher".
So what nobody is talking about is how "Happy Nation" by Ace of Base is a CRAZY fitting or ironic choice depending on your reading, because Ace of Base were Neo-Nazis, and "Happy Nation" has some Nazi-esque lyrics in it, including ironically chanting in hebrew, the translation of which is about the german eagle, AND literally mentions "Brotherhood", so yeah, tons you can read into it.
You are so dumb it's not even funny. There is no Hebrew in that song, it's actually Latin. Ace of Bass are certainly not Neo Nazi's, the Latin lines in the song are:
Laudate omnes gentes laudate
Magnificat in secula
Et anima mea laudate
Magnificat in secula
Which roughly translates to:
Praise all nations, praise [God]
Greatly praise [God] forever
My soul / praise
Greatly praise
Those lines come from pieces of Catholic Liturgy. Which makes sense, considering Ace of Bass is a Christian band. So I will leave you with this:
"What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul" - The Principle from the movie Billy Madison
Its Ace of Base Happy Nation. Good track.
It's the new Rains of Castamere for me, I can't hear it without a twinge of pain in my heart.
The different scenes in the intro are references to scenes from episodes of the OG show. They also tease what to expect in the episode.
I hope the 90s Spider-Man show gets revived
Oh, just wait, this series is the precursor to a complete early '90s MCU animated revival. Spider-Man will return in short order.
Especially if that continuation can potentially be THIS good.
Get back here shocker! SHOCKEEEERRR! *YOU* can't escape *ME! ILL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EEEEEAAAAAARRRRRTTTHHH!*
That would be sick
No thanks - that send off, though capping off a rushed season, was perfect
This episode was inspired by the Pulse shooting. The show runner used to go to that nightckub regularly and then a party ending so sudden and violent.
9/11 also. It changes everything.
Omg I knew it!! I thought the same thing! A night of dancing turning into a masacre just because they are different 😢
"Just get really into rubber." Morgan is a problem-solver.
The thing I'd say to Morgan about separating mutants from other superhumans is that bigotry isn't logical. Like, Morgan is being totally reasonable, but people like the Friends of Humanity aren't reasonable people. (And to attempt to explain why the public would see a difference, most superheroes are one-offs, whereas mutants are a whole population that is surrounded by a "theory" about "replacement" of baseline humans.)
Probably one of the best things Marvel put out since Endgame.
Probably? "One of" is a safe bet.
@@jp3813 you know people get when you don’t pad certain takes with things like “probably”
@@JoshV_TX The "this show is woke and therefore bad" crowd.
Welcome to the support group.
What hurts the most is this has been described in the comics as the Mutant 9/11. Most of the people on Genosha weren't X-men or Brotherhood members, they were regular people who either were discriminated so hard by humans they fled there as refugees or sought the place out to try and be a part of history. It was a utopia that was legit hit with a terror attack that killed thousands and cut the head off of the government.
"I cant feel you", just what Wanda said to Vision in Infinity War
She said it in Wandavision.
Dustin give Morgan the avengers vs X-Men Omni. It would be perfect for the topic of "mutant vs hero". Great reaction guys been a fan since game of thrones reactions but really got into this channel with the last Airbender episodes.
I watched your episode 1 reaction. The song that's playing during this episode plays briefly, but noticabley when Jean is probing Henry Gyrich mind in episode 1. The seeds they planted and the writing is so good in this show!
Ace of Base, yup.
☠️ Get really into rubber. I screamed unintentionally 🤣
This reaction made me realize seeing Morgan sad absolutely sucks! She always seems so upbeat and hilarious that seeing the opposite hurts.
Do you not know of the machines and posthumans that come for the men, women and children in the night? With their claws, deathbeams and eyes that pierce the black? Are these the stories you like? Oh my poor sweet summer child.
I've been waiting for you to do this episode 😈...but also 😭
Gambit is my top favorite. I've been waiting years to see him again...and this happens. He went out like a G and true hero but damn 💔

A nod to gambit being omega lvl
Thank you!!! I too for years have had a problem with the X-Men/Mutants -- Avengers/Spiderman/every other hero existing in the same world. Like she is saying you hate one but then not the other? It just doesn’t make sense. Glad to see I’m not the only one who has had conflicting feelings about this.
Bigotry tends to have illogical reasons for why hating on one group but not another. Generally at the whims of the movement leader(s), or seeing one of the groups of "other" people as upholding some moral that the bigots favor.
When you read the comics you understand that the "boyscout" persona is just a mask that Cyclops has to wear. He pretends to be like that because it's his job as the leader of the X-Men. People already hates mutants and Cyclops has to be the boyscout to appear good to people. As the leader of the X-Men he is the face of mutants on the media. Dam I thought it was gonna be both ep 5&6. Oh well
I think at this point they’re caught up so they’re watching it as it comes out, but releasing reactions later for CZcams.
14:35 JAJAJAJJA
man the reaction was unanimous, all of us fans of this animation had the same feeling, that's a surprising connection
I've been waiting for you guys to do this one.
Wait, Morgan doesn’t know Sauron?! The vampire dino man, not the jewelry maker. He had a cameo in Motendo!
I’d actually like to see reactions to some of the old episodes, I think it’d be fun
This is where the fun begins! 👏
The BEST episode!! I almost gave up on the season until they went all in!
Btw, again, Love you three, but as you know already, y’all have some of the best editors/editing EVER. This is nothing new. 🙂👍
This episode deserves EMMY!
Morgan is literally me right now I'm sad foreverrrrrrrrrrrr
This episode hit so hard. Even knowing what happens later, this still hits hard in the guts. They better hire the showrunner back. Marvel hasn't been this good in a long time.
the most awaited episode of X-Men 97
I feel like the 3-part finale may have a run for the money
Ughhh, "I can't feel you" was the same line Wanda delivered when she was finally able to touch the disassembled Vision and both got me 😢❤

21:45 The moment the show broke Morgan...
Its kind of cool you guys discuss some themes of the show before knowing they exactly address those issues in later episodes.
We’re only 7 episodes in, but this is already eeeeasily the best xmen property+ ever put onscreen. And this ep is the single largest reason why
+ Logan (2017) is still better, barely, but that’s less a true Xmen movie and more a movie about Logan himself
Not me annotating a YT comment 😭🤓
I’m just putting it out there. Rogue and Gambit, in this world, could be intimate if they want. During intercourse, Rogue wears the mutant X-gene suppressing collar. After they’re finished handling their business, take it off. I’m just sayin’…

14:57 The biggest, most devastating attack in the entire episode.
Vampire dinosaur = Sauron from the Savage Land
Gambit is by far the best X-Man.
He’s the most real of anyone on the team.
Nobody was ready great writing
This episode was crazy and Gambit says the remember it line in the original show too I found out after watching it along with this so now I extra sad lol. And I lvoe them giving all the characters there due especially Cyclops even in the original show he gets his due like he has such an arc in S2 and 3 with his father, being a leader and so does Rogue and everyone
“From my daddy I ran to another daddy” 😂😂😂
So gambit was techinally married to someone else when he started dating rogue and in the comics rogue and magneto only banged in the savage land , so it wasn't as bad and , heck I think gambit cheated on her too , and now they are happily married and they have like 5 ways to touch each other I don't know if there was all the implied grooming with mystique literally handing her daughter off to magneto and alot of fans think Valarie cooper's reaction to magneto and rogue almost getting married means she's mystique
Not Enya, it was Ace of Base. Song is called Happy Nation.
Episode hit hard. Also, I'd be interested to hear what Dustin's doing with the modular gear.
Every show pulling something like this makes it hard to feel the impact, because the moment more than one important character dies, you know they will undo it anyway. First one dies, you are shocked, second one dies, you are getting a bit of hope, third one dies, you relax and stop worrying. Imagine if this was the show that knows we all expect a time travel reset button and then doesn't do it (making Cable a cruel misdirect).
Someone get morgan a "cyclops was right " shirt or Hoodie lol also someone probably mentioned it but "i cant feel you" is the same thing wanda said when she found visions body being dissected and couldn't connect to his mind
The “vampire dinosaur” was Sauron fyi.
I remember a comic or something where Spider-Man tried to join the X-men and they said f you, your not a mutant 😂
I appreciated the multiple Lucille Bluth quotes, I see you haha
This episode and season of x-men ‘97 gets a chefs kiss from me.
The “enya” track was Ace of Base. A Swedish pop band that was very popular.
Oh yeah, we saw The Sign!
X-Men '97 has been like if the 90's cartoon and anime had a love child and I love it
15:42 Ace of Base
Kenny is killing it with these
On the mutants vs. regular marvel superheroes, most of them are considered "mutates", people who were changed by something rather than "mutants" being born with their power. Cap, Spiderman, the Hulk etc. would be considered mutates. So I guess maybe the masses would see mutates as humans who had something done to them and came out heroes, as opposed to a race that is possibly going to overtake humans.
The whole thing of prejudice against Mutants vs other superheroes is due to genetics. In-universe, bigots see mutants as humanity’s replacement. That one day normal humans will become extinct as mutants continue to reproduce. Not dissimilar to all the people who try to perpetuate White Replacement Theory to stoke fear in others here in real life. Heroes like Cap, Hulk, and Spider-Man that got their powers through external means aren’t seen the same way since they were born human.
Side note, it’s so fucking heartbreaking that Gambit died not knowing Rogue chose him over Magneto.
The saddest part is that people feel sorry for Rogue because she "lost both of them" but nowhere has anyone considered that Gambit, after losing Rogue, seeing her kiss Magneto, and then mourning Magnetos death...Gambit kills himself. It's not because she "lost him" he lost out on a reason to live. Now she can die...untouched by Magneto...and unloved by Gambit.
There is a lesson in that ladies...remember it.
Re: why people hate mutants but not Captain America
Captain America is a mutate and not a mutant.
Mutants are people with the X-Gene, which sorta kinda activate sometime around puberty giving the person powers.
Mutates are normal people who got exposed to external stimuli that triggered mutations thus giving them powers: Captain America (super soldier serum), the Hulk (Gamma radiations), Spider Man (radioactive spider), Fantastic Four (cosmic rays) to name a few.
Then there are the Inhumans, their Inhuman genes activate and give them powers through Terrigenesis (exposure to the Terrigen mist)
Then there are the Eternals, basically Celestial experiments.

Love the Aaliyah tank top. Keeping her name alive. I saw her live in 97 Budweiser superfest. Absolutely stunningly beautiful in person. Love X-Men too. Jeans my girl. Name of the song that was in the club is called Happy Nation from a group named Ace of Base.
