- After modifying our conex with a solar panel mount, it's time to paint! To our surprise the paint color we picked was no where to be found but in the end we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We add necessary cabin flashing and a very useful hot and cold water faucet outdoors. With the long daylight hours summer is finally here and we can start chipping away at projects.

Don't forget to grease the rubber gaskets on the doors and the rods when you close the doors so the nuckels don't rust. Trust me on this I used to work on containers

Make sure you put ball valve shut off valves on the inside of the house to shut off water and drain the extra water outside to keep the valves from freezing. Keep the lines on a slope so water will drain outside.
You can see the ball valves @ 8:18 (in fact, he uses it to start the water flowing again), but I completely agree. A must have!

they have valves at the tank if need be... but its a frostless assembly that is why the tubes for the valve extend through the wall into the structure. I believe their crawl space stays above freezing.
@@MrAwsomeshot I think they might have a crawl space heater with digital thermostatic control (for example, if it gets below ~35°, the heater kicks on for a while).
It's a frost free valve shuts off inside through the long tube it won't freeze

You can fasten the metal flashing to the studs that are within the ICF. The studs are recessed about 5/8" from the surface of the foam. There should be a vertical marking embossed on the outer surface of the ICF that is about 8" on center. That's where the studs are located.
ps: use a #10 coarse thread screw.
Love the mess up color! It reminds me of a military beige that is used on machines in the desert areas. It is always an adventure picking paint colors!
When you expand the pex, rotate the pipe a few times about 30 degrees at a time. It will more evenly expand the pex , not just in one place. That may be the reason you had a leak. The pipe may have not been expanded in a symmetrical manner. The Milwaukee unit rotates the expander automatically. The one you have is like mine and does not rotate. You have to do it yourself.

At my "farm" in western Washington, I had a fenced area next to the chicken coop. There was a large fir tree next to the fence, under which was a 3' high ant hill of fir
needles. I would throw a pitch fork of the needles into the fenced area each morning to the chicken's delight. They acted like they were on speed. amidst a cacaphanie
of clucks. Since I moved to Costa Rica, I have photographed many local flowers, insects and birds to later identify them. Nature is awesome.
One working cat: check. Two pampered puppies: check.
It is going to be handy having hot and cold water outside, because you could even clean off outside. I love the color of your shipping container 😍.
Having hot and cold water outdoor is very handy especially cleaning those freshly caught fish. Good choice of paint color it's like earth tone colors. Beautiful!

The paint color looks to me like they used the formula for one gallon instead of 5 gallons. 😮
I also have an outdoor hot water faucet that we use to fill a claw foot tub I got at a salvage yard. Right now we have an umbrella with a screen since it is prime bug season, otherwise it is star gazing paradise.

They might have put the paint color in for a 1 gallon instead of a 5 gallon. Everything looks so good though ❤😊

I know this isn't the case but I feel like you posted this just for me. Today has been a hard day- I had to put Georgie, my cat of 16 years, to sleep this morning and watching this is like hanging out with friends. It was so nice to see all the animals as well.

Bo knows, Bandit's ready! Nice having hot/cold water outside. Consider (before winter) adding two shut-off valves just inside the exterior wall, and make sure they're shut-off valves with bleed valves which go between the ball part of the valve and the exterior wall. This will allow you to shut off the flow of water, open the bleed valves and outside faucet valves to drain all water from outside the house, thus preventing frozen/bursting of the copper. Pex can freeze/swell 300% without bursting.

Look again, it's a Woodford freezeless faucet, as long as the hose is taken off for the winter and the crawlspace doesn't freeze it doesn't need to be drained.

The flowers you found grow in SASKATCHEWAN and only bloom in spring are called crocuses. Grow wild here in pasture land and hills.
I love having hot water outside!! I bought an old cast iron claw foot bathtub ( cost less than $80! ) and I have it outside behind my barn! after a long day of yard work..nothing beats soaking in that tub!

The paint color really is perfect given the color of the soil.
I think your strategy of going with subtle Earth tones, to blend things into nature is going to work out very well. Anything, like browns, greens, and sky blues are going to be perfect starting points, and I don't expect the exact shade to be very important. That Conex looks perfect!

You should have a muralist come over and paint something awesome on the side of your conex. Some kind of cool nature scene. That paint color is perfect. Fantastic job!!!!
Yes, chickens do like foam, insulation and OSB - they ate the whole inside of my coop...I did not paint as you did though. I Quite like the color of the conex. But what I like even more is the paint sprayer - very impressive. I have a ton of cedar shingles to stain and other buildings to paint, so will be checking that sprayer out. You threw me for a loop with the pasque flower - we know them as Crocus's here on the prairies. Good video!

Another fantastic video guys the plumbing went very good and the paint job is outstanding I love the color for sure, I was really surprised how fast the siding pieces went up. You should be able to get rid of most of your overspray by adjusting pressure or using a different tip. It's a bit of an art setting it up, but once it's done it should pretty much throw sheets of paint rather than thick mist. You then just need to move your arm quicker or you'll get it too thick. Bigger droplets are better as long as they aren't splatters.
Whatever they did turned out pretty well.
