Creativity is a form of intelligence many (not all) critics lack. Folks with middling to low intellect will often cling to rules, order and process to keep themselves feeling safe. Doing something that is beyond their comprehension or outside the lines is very threatening because it highlights personal deficiencies. With projects like this, a blend of creativity and ability is presented. It's bound to stir up some small d*c* energy. :) Keep up the good work!

Just a little heads up. The Honda clones tend to have a lot of metal in the oil during the first 15-20 minutes of operation. I would recommend running the motor at different RPMs for about a hour and then change the oil and filter. The 670 isn’t as bad as the other predators thanks to its oil filter but probably still a good idea. I have a video on my channel of a 459 (they just have the strainer and a true filter) and it was pretty nasty after maybe a half hour of run time.

2:30 - I've been a big Saab fan since I could drive (early 2000s), I've had a couple Saab 900 turbos from the mid 80s, and man those thrust bearings always go bad. An engine not designed to handle that at all, it'd be fine for a project going a couple of thousand miles sure, but I don't know if the average car person understands just how important what you're bringing up is; those lateral movements put a ton of strain on the components... I'm glad you mentioned it!

I’m glad I found this channel! I learned to drive in a Renault 12 so I’m a bit sentimental for the old Renault. They were incredibly underpowered and I remember in my lesson with Granddad I was nervous about accelerating too hard and spinning the wheels so I stalled a little in the beginning, now, I realise I could probably have launched it at full throttle and barely gotten a squeak from the tyres. I wish I bought the car from him though. It ended up in a scrap yard, the poor old girl.

My first car was a FIAT 126, twin cylinder rear engine, about 650cc. An important thing to note is it had a big (about 6 inch) tube pulling cold air from the sides of the car, and into the cooling fan, once the tube came off so the engine just recirculated the hot air in the engine bay, so it overheated. I'd have been tempted to have used a centrifugal clutch between the engine and input shaft of the engine, just like a special version of the Citroen 2CV - I think it was called the traffic. Great video though, I'll look forward to see how it runs.

This should have about 2/3rds the power and torque of the factory engine, but also about 1/10th the emissions. Geometry wise, the weight will be sitting a little higher in the rear, so there should be a little more roll-steer from the rear.
If you do another swap, consider the Motus "American V4", it would give more then the performance of the Gordini or Alpine Renault engines, plus sit down lower because it's designed for regular thrust bearing loads. It would make this R10 into something special.
As a Renault owner, you'll probably find plenty of buyers for the original engine too, given the passion many folks have for the R10 and related bodystyles that use the same drivetrain.

I don't want to come across as another " You're doing it wrong! " person since it's your project and I've always thought what you do on this channel is cool AF, but I'm a bit confused about something and comments are for feedback, so...
My experience with this sort of motor is that they're meant for mowers, pumps and stuff that don't have a lot of electrical stuff on them, but if they've got an electric start, they've got some sort of method of charging the starting battery.
For example, my lawn tractor has a vertical shaft 17 HP single and electric start. It's got alternator windings on the fan/flywheel to charge the batteries and makes enough power to also run the weak-ass headlights on the mower. My guess is it's possibly as large as a few dozens of watts!
Admittedly, this wouldn't run all the accessories on the Renault like headlights and tail lights at once, but would charge the battery and likely run turn signals and instrumentation.
Update: I dug through the parts list and exploded diagram and there are three charge coils under the flywheel, so I'm pretty sure it can make at least enough charge current to keep the battery topped off. The 20A alternator still seems like a good idea, though.
Good luck with the project and nice work!

Just in case, I thought I’d mention, electric start lawnmowers always have a way to charge the starter battery. It’s usually a funny kind of alternator built into the fan/flywheel assembly. Give you’ll be running lights and ancillary equipment, as well as using the starter, you’ll probably be using a larger battery and might need a beefier alternator.
But maybe not! Personally, I would have tried it, before modifying the cvt pulley.

According to the French licence plate, this Renault comes from my birth place, in the Ain department (number 01), The town is Bourg-en Bresse, and there, the Renault dealers are parts of the Bernard Group. Well, to be precise, these rear yellow licence plates appeared in France in 1993, and disappeared in 2009, and this Renault 10 is a 1966 or 1967 model year.
So this Renault was in the Ain department between 1993 and the moment when it was carried to USA.

Just wanted to throw an idea out there. They make some pretty hefty (and affordable) agricultural PTO/ chain drives, maybe see if you can make an intermediate chain or PTO that goes into an assembly with the output to clutch / flywheel ect. McMaster has you covered in finding an appropriate thrust bearing for whats going to be a custom n a half ordeal. You'll have to sort out the axis offset but maybe an opportunity to mount the engine lower than the transmission axis!

In a world where sorrow paints the sky,
Where sadness lingers, refusing to die,
An anguished tree stood with tears unshed,
Its melancholy heart heavy with dread.
No one knew the reason behind its grief,
As the tree's branches trembled, seeking relief,
Its leaves whispered secrets, untold pain,
A sorrowful melody, a mournful refrain.
The man, unaware of the tree's despair,
Stood by its side, breathing the heavy air,
But as the tree's sorrow reached its peak,
It fell towards him, a heart-wrenching creak.
With desperate haste, the man leaped away,
      Escaping the tree's sorrowful sway,
And as he glanced back with eyes full of ache,
A fallen silhouette by the street did break.
The tree, once proud, now lay on the ground,
Its agony silenced, without a sound,
A monument of grief by the van's side,
A tragedy untold, where emotions hide.
Why did the tree weep in silent despair?
What shattered its spirit, leaving it bare?
We may never know the depth of its pain,
But the fallen tree's essence forever will remain.
In this tale of sorrow and loss,
We're reminded of life's bitter cost,
For even the mightiest hearts can break,
Leaving shattered remnants in their wake.
Let us cherish the moments we share,
Embrace one another with love and care,
For in the face of sorrow's cruel sting,
Compassion and empathy can healing bring.
And as we pass by that fallen tree,
May we honor its sorrow and let it be,
A reminder to nurture the souls we meet,
And offer solace to the hearts in defeat.
